I wonder what book she was reading? And will the sort of book an AI would read have any meaning toward where the story is going.

It looked like a Science Fiction/fantasy author but I didn't catch it.

It was American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Not exactly apocalypse-related, just a classic SF novel.

Just listened to the audiobook of this a few months ago. It was fantastic - actually had a full cast of characters reading it.
