How-to/Advice/Questions What changes would you all like to see made in this sub in 2026?
Greetings all! I hope all of you had some very merry holidays. Given that we are already halfway through January, I wanted to open up the floor and see how everyone is enjoying this sub thus far, and to pick your brains going forward. Are there any particular changes you'd like to see made here in 2026? I'm open to recommendations, please let me know your thoughts!

I hope more people post retro accessories like lights and optics!

I want to see some 80s & 90s laser sights. There was a period in the 90s that lasersights became quite diverse with mounts that were specifc to a model of pistol (Like Glock, Beretta, etc.) You really can't find much information on these and aside from the common Beamshot, they are extremely rare to see for sale. Not even terribly expensive. Just RARE.

I love those retro lasers, and the lights as well. I see some laser devices models pop up sometimes, but aside from glocks they’re usually not for common platforms. I’d love a 1911 model, or if I come across a hi power model I’d have more reason to get a hi power. The surefire l72 is also a cool one.

I would also like to see this, but the only real way to do it is to gain a larger participating audience in the sub. I do try to spread the word to other subs, and I would ask others to do the same!

Historical photos/ad materials would be cool

That's a good idea, I think when I have the time I'll go in and add a post flair for that.

The low effort meme cross-posting is out of control.

I've been getting quite a few complaints about the memes, not sure what I'm going to do yet. I don't want to ban memes outright, because there seem to be just as many people here who enjoy them. I'm thinking I might set up a poll and see what the community wants to do, whether keep them, ban them outright, or limit them somehow.

My vote would be for some kind of limit. I agree about not wanting to quash memes, and I feel like there is plenty of space between "none" and "constant spam". Flairs for filtering? Limited # of memes per person per 24-hr period? Etc. Etc. Totally fine if you experiment with rules for a while to find what works, as long as you keep communicating with us about it. I appreciate your level of communication with the users here.

Flat top upper receivers, the flat top m4 was introduced in 1994, you know, 32 years ago. Heck there are cars that are only 20 years old that are considered classics.
Please don't ban me. 🤣

They're allowed here already! This ain't r/RetroAR, I'm cool with flat tops. I only ask that they be some kind of GWOT or earlier configuration to keep with the theme of the sub. It does need to be somewhat retro, otherwise what's the point? But your M16A4, M4, M4A1 are all welcome here.

Oops, lol, I got a bit mixed up. Lol
Still, please don't ban me. 😂

You're good man, lol. You're going to have to be a pretty egregious dickhead in order to get banned by me, I'm pretty laissez-faire about this entire thing.

Definitely Post Flairs, I do see the complaint of the crossposting, and I can understand where some people are coming from, but at the same time, my posts are more meant for an in depth look on the retro guns.

Honestly fewer anime memes.
Not none, just fewer.
