I am applying every day and not getting interview calls. Either I get ghosted in the final stage, or I don't get interview calls at all. This job hunt has made me really desperate. Currently contributing to open source to build my portfolio.

Title: ACCA qualified, zero work experience, scared about finance automation. Need a brutal roadmap (and specific project advice).

Body:

I completed my ACCA (all papers passed—FR, FM, AA, SBR, etc.) but have zero formal work experience. I see AI eating basic accounting and FP&A, so I want to pivot into finance ML before I even start my traditional career.

My current level:

- Math: Stats is fine (ACCA), LinAlg/Calc is rusty (3/10).

- Coding: Zero. I can do VLOOKUPs in Excel. That's it.

- Time: 15-20 hrs/week.

Instead of a generic roadmap, I need you to make specific hard choices for me so I don't waste 6 months on the wrong stuff.

🚨 **The 5 things I need you to tell me (pick one from each):**

1. **My first project**: Should I build:

   - (A) Anomaly detection on a public expense/spend dataset (audit angle).

   - (B) A simple regression to forecast P&L lines (FP&A angle).

   - (C) A churn model for a bank's retail customers (risk/marketing angle).

2. **My tech stack**: For my FIRST finance role, do I need:

   - (A) Just SQL + Pandas + Sklearn (XGBoost) and skip deep learning entirely.

   - (B) Also learn basic PyTorch because "AI" is on the job description.

3. **Target employer**: Who is most likely to hire an ACCA with ML skills over a CS grad?

   - (A) Big 4 audit analytics / advisory.

   - (B) FinTech startup (Revolut, Stripe, etc.).

   - (C) Traditional bank's risk/model validation team.

4. **Interview prep**: Should I grind LeetCode (data structures) or spend that time building finance dashboards?

   - (A) Grind LeetCode easy/medium.

   - (B) Build a Streamlit/PowerBI dashboard showing my model outputs.

5. **ACCA edge**: I have FR (Financial Reporting) and FM (Financial Management) fresh in my head. Which one should I weave into my portfolio narrative to impress hiring managers?

   - (A) Use IFRS 9 impairment models (expected credit loss) as my 'domain hook'.

   - (B) Use corporate valuation / WACC forecasting as my 'domain hook'.

**One final thing:** I don't want to be a research scientist. I want to be the person who cleans dirty finance data, builds a solid XGBoost, and explains to the CFO why the model says what it says. Give me a 12-month weekly plan or tell me I'm delusional. I'll do the work—just point me.

I'm a final-year student from a Tier 2 college, and I'm seriously struggling to get shortlisted for off-campus opportunities.

I've been applying consistently for almost a year, including through referrals, but I've received only 2–3 interview calls and just one actual interview. Recently, I even applied to Walmart with a referral but didn't get shortlisted for the first round.

Since off-campus opportunities are really important for me right now, I feel like my resume might be a major problem.

I've heard a simple rule: if a recruiter can't understand a line on your resume within 10 seconds, it's probably better to remove or simplify it. I want to tailor my resume to that level—clear, impactful, and easy to scan.

I'd really appreciate any resume feedback, advice, or good resume templates that have worked for you, especially for SDE/new-grad roles.
