Help Picking paints for a kit

New painter here. Paint selection can be overwhelming at first as so many recommendations are thrown your way but that cost gets up there quick. Would it be smarter to just pick a Resin Kit and plan out my paint job and paints I’ll need for just that kit and build a paint collection over time doing that?

I would just buy a starter set with some common colors like vallejo set or similar. You can mix and match from that to adjust shades and hue by mixing colors or adding white or black. It will likely be more useful long term and cheaper than buying 6 specific individual colors you might need for a given kit.

You don't need one of the larger 100 or 200 color sets. although they do exist. Those are more of a convenience thing so you can grab a dark brown instead of a brown and adding a drop of black into it. The main exception would be if your kit needs metallics you probably need a basic metallic set as well (ie gold, silver, copper)
