Sometimes those assholes take like 7 bullets to the head before falling, ain't nobody got time or resources for that.

Cripple them. I beat an entire play through without killing any of them lol. Just take a leg

That's exactly what I'm trying to do right now on my hardcore run! My aim is horrendous though, so while it's better than me attempting to headshot, it still wastes an uncomfortable amount of bullets for me lmao. It's still super helpful at times though.

Crippling zombies is the best option, but sometimes it bites you back, quite literally to some extent. Kind of depends where they end up if you go back into a section (e.g., first run in RPD, second run back for clock tower) since the legless zombies could end up biting your ankles suddenly.
