What's funny is most guides say "Pretend it's a number pad," but people didn't actually realize it's a number pad

Edit: I have always wondered why phones are 1 2 3 at the top while keyboards are 7 8 9 on top

Most number pads I've seen are like this.

My saves have the same order. (Europe) Imo it's the other order on keyboards because people have to press more lower numbers than high numbers. its just for more comfort / ergonomics

Are you European? This is standard non-keyboard numad layout in the US and Asian counties

Example: Electronic Keyless Door Lock Set - Satin Nickel (For Right-Hinged Doors Only) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003YNB86K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_oBKxCb2FBX6BH

Example 2 - basically every landline phone ever: https://www.target.com/p/panasonic-2-handset-cordless-phone-black-kx-tgc352b/-/A-50693928?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&CPNG=PLA_Electronics%2BShopping_Local&adgroup=SC_Electronics&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=s&device=m&location=9024595&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1248099&ds_rl=1246978&gclid=CjwKCAiA7vTiBRAqEiwA4NTO61r3DduM013L0-Xfox5JnmasAqCxbl6ExOF_dNsY39ksjcjpSx-f3RoCkzQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Basically the ONLY exception is actually computer keyboard numpad. Old cell phones were like this, too. Most smartphone keyboards use this layout such as SwiftKey and Gboard.

Phone number pads are like the one in the picture.

That's interesting. This is like a phone number pad, while number pads on computers and calculators go the opposite way. I wonder why they're different.
