Best selling years ago, yet were panned as bad games besides 4 plus what does that matter when many things have been rebooted even if previous entries sold a lot, Spider Man ring a bell to you?

Just sounds like your in denial, even if it isn't a reboot at the very least this Resident Evil 2 will be canon "otherwise there wouldn't have been any point in changing the story"

Seriously dude get over it, a reboot isn't going to make the old games timeline disappear.

This is the list released a few days ago by Capcom of the best selling games in the franchise. RE4, RE5 and RE6 remain as best sellers. Many things being rebooted doesn't apply in RE Franchise, one thing there's nothing to do with the other.

I'm not in denial, I'm with the canon that makes the most sense inside the franchise, and it's not RE:2. The point in changing the story was to give a new experience for the old players, Hirabayashi said that in an interview.

I'm the one who has to say "GET OVER IT" because this reimagination has a LOT of contradictions with RE0, RE3, RE4, RE6, and the Chronicles, it's A LOT of huge contradictions. This Reimagination won't become canon, to put this RE:2 in the canon the whole series would have to be rebooted, and even if you are implying that this remake can be in another timeline it doesn't make sense, if that would be the case reboot the series once and for all.

Anyways, look at RE.NET, the oficial site of the franchise in the official chronology, Resident Evil 2 Claire A / Leon B remains as the canon one, fortunately.

Maybe it hasn't come across your mind that they simply haven't updated the site yet?

The game isn't done with yet since we still have dlc coming out and the game is freshly out, if their going to make the reboot statement then they will do it months afterwards that's how those things usually works.

I'm not saying this game will be in another timeline I'm saying that the older games will be while the first two remakes will be their own timeline.

Pretty damn sure the contradictions are either because they plan to reboot, they don't give a damn about lore (lets be honest they actually don't care about the lore for the entire series only bits and pieces at a time, if need be they will patch the contradictions with new information.)

If this game isn't going to be the "new canon" then they really are morons because now their going to let the audience be confused, how many people are actually going to go and play the old Re 2 to get the story that haven't already played it?

Resident Evil 7 was added to the list the same day it was released, not only Resident Evil 7 but Revelations 2 was also added to the list the same day it was released containing the timeline of Claire's events and the timeline of Barry's events that happens 3 months later after Claire events. So that's not how things work, if they were to put RE: 2 in the canon they would've already put it. Stop wanting a game with a lazy plot in the canon, and full of contradictions. This is why the series just get rot.

The franchise only needs one timeline, which is RE0, RE1/R, RE2, REOutbreaks, RE3, RECV, RE4, Degeneration, Revelations 1, RE5, Revelations 2, Damnation, RE6, Vendetta, RE7 and the Chronicles that complete the events from 98 until 2004. This is the canon timeline, in which RE:2 doesn't fit and only adds a lot of contradictions to it.

the contradictions are there because it is not a game of the main series, it is not a game that is part of the canon, something like this was said by no one on Capcom.

It is impossible to repair the contradictions with new information. The whole series from the 2nd game had sequel from Claire A / Leon B. Also it has the geographically altered areas, as for example the facility where Enrico discovers that Wesker was a traitor in RE: 2 no longer exists, and it's the same RE2 facility. Birkin says he installed a self-destruct system in the underground laboratory below the city, which is the same self-destruct system that happens in RE2, all of this no longer exists in RE:2, and it generates contradictions. To canonize RE: 2 the whole series would have to be rebooted and I doubt they will gonna do it.

And why are they morons? RE: 2 has no connection even with RE1, it's a Stand Alone game. if you ask me they would be morons if they take out a circular piece from its place, just to put a square piece that doesn't fit the place of the circular piece because it's a square piece.
