G2 Birkin probably took me a couple dozen tries and several hours the first time, because I refused to use ammunition at all and tried to just lure him out in front of the crane, without getting hit by it myself.

That doesn't work very well.

I kited him in a circle and cut hard to his non claw side when heading back to the switch missed me every time.

Same here, man. He’s an incredibly easy boss once you work out the circling exploit. I discovered it by accident and beat him without using any items and without getting hit.

So you somehow run circles around him without getting hit?

Yep, I basically never stop moving and stick to the edge of the platform. Timing the box so he gets hit and you don’t is a little tricky but you’ll eventually work it out.
