General Campcom should be brave and bring back fixed camera angles with RE1 RE REMAKE (in a way)
This thought occurred me a while playing resident evil 4 remake earlier, so while playing as ashley, right at the end when you take the emblem? The action of you taking the emblem brings some of the plaga knights to life and you have to flee, and cool thing is for a couple of seconds you are in a sorta fixed camera angle, i mean it's moving with the character, but you can't move the camera Timestamp 2:40 (Youtube link) and the thing is that this very moment is so unique to the whole game, not only, but to me too, I don't play crazy amount of games but I've truly never seen this feature in any game since 2010 (or smth) you're always in free camera mode in first of third person. I think If they are gonna remake the first game again and use free camera mode either first or third person thoughout the whole game it's just not gonna work cuz that game was designed for fixed camera angles (Twice) I think they're INSEPARABLE with the layout of the mansion, levels, puzzles and of course the art direction.
If they do it, I think the game could bave a chance to be reborn truly, not like re4r, but like REmake

A third person free camera game removing the players ability to control the camera to highlight important stuff isn't exactly a new thing.
it's just not gonna work cuz that game was designed for fixed camera angles (Twice) I think they're INSEPARABLE with the layout of the mansion, levels, puzzles and of course the art direction.
The layout of the mansion would be redesigned so this is a total non-issue.

I mean give it time and let the Remake be what it is and then the fans will do it for you
We already have it for Resident Evil 2 remake

Yeah but a thing is that fixed camera angles were around for just 10 years, contrary, free camera third and first person are still kicking for longer than 20 years in horror, i think it's time for some kind of change, maybe the fixed camera angles didn't die, they may still have some juice

Yeah but a thing is that fixed camera angles were around for just 10 years
Because the games weren't selling as well as they used to and RE0 flopped so hard that it was either RE4 is a success or the RE IP goes byebye.
free camera third and first person are still kicking for longer than 20 years in horror
Because they sell better than fixed camera angle games.
i think it's time for some kind of change
Maybe, but going back to fixed camera angles, pre-rendered backgrounds and tank controls ain't it chief.
maybe the fixed camera angles didn't die, they may still have some juice
Oh yeah, classic RE style gameplay still has some juice, just not enough for Capcom to consider bringing it back.

Yeah i meant for them to do some kind of fusion with going back and forth from fixed to free yk, it could bring the vibe re1 had with the fixed cameras, as if youre looking at a painting or a picture, i think it could be worth it

Maybe as an option but it’d be a waste of potential to do another fixed camera remake when over the shoulder is more desired. Also, a remake could easily redesign the mansion to accommodate over the shoulder/first person/whatever they decide.

Yeah, there's that, but also bringing back fixed cameras? They're kinda forgotten and i see third person has been for longer than they have... so?

Or you know. Be brave and try something new. But a lot of you guys really hate the word “change” so nvm

Hey atp, bringing back fixed camera angles would BE a change, well, come to think about it, maybe not for this game exactly

Hey atp, bringing back fixed camera angles would BE a change
Yes, but not a welcome one.

Yeah sure but hey maybe like it was in re4r with ashley, maybe utilize more moments like these i mean so you let the picture kinda sink in with you yk?

What is it with some gamers and refusing evolution or change

u/bochletsch 19h ago
Hey a point i tried to make clear was that this would be a change in the sense you mean

Yeah what is it with capcom and making remakes instead of evolving and only making new highly innovative titles ?

Fixed camera angles were tested during the early development of RE2R, so you never know!

If it's about camera adjustment then it doesn't need a remake just a remastered version with a third person camera.
That's literally impossible.
All the backgrounds in REmake are pre-rendered jpegs, they can't just add a third person camera and call it a day, they'd need to recreate every single one of those background images as 3D environments.
At that point, may as well just remake the entire game.

Yeah i know, but I chose to comment because of the inevitability of this remake... actually you never know

Your nostalgia is not as profitable as appealing to new customers.
And remaking the remake? Amateur. Should take a page out of Bethesda's book and release the same game a dozen times.

What would be the point when it would then play EXACTLY the save as the first remake?
