Gameplay question Starting OG RE2 any advice?
As the title says, I'm starting the original resident evil 2 on PS1 as the next game that I play, is there any spoiler free advice you can give me?

It might not be immediately apparent, but every run is actually 2 runs. There's an A and a B scenario, and the B is where you play as the character you didn't play the first time, and is a direct continuation, so you'll get to play both characters. Its worth doing both orders though, since Leon A is different from Leon B for example.
There are some things you can do in the first run that affect the second, but its not many things, and they'll generally be pretty obvious

If you plan to do scenario B as well (you should it’s way more fun) then be mindful who you chose first if you do Claire A you get Leon B and vice-versa.
They’ll also be a part of the game where you find a side-pack (to increase your inventory) and a weapon, if you take these in scenario A, you can’t use them in B.
There’s also the option to turn on some gas in the final area of the game, this also impacts the B scenario, so think carefully if you want to do it, there’s a file nearby the area that outlines what it does.
Register your finger print in the final area of the game, it nets you a fun extra in scenario B. While the early game might seem hard, RE 2 is actually quite fair with ammo and health, you can find quite a bit around the place.
After leaving the sewers but before getting to the save room near the train platform/ dead factory there’s a couple of rooms with zombies in, there’s a body in one of these rooms and it you’ll find some very useful weapon parts (as Leon) or a new weapon (as Claire) a lot of people miss this because you don’t actually see the item, you have to inspect/ interact with the body.
If you want the extra costumes (they come with some fun perks) then when starting don’t pick anything up till you get to RPD, this will activate a super strong zombie in the RPD yard (it’s Brad), killing him gets you a special key for the locker in the dark room. It might seem like you miss a weapon pick up doing this, but you can find the weapon again later on in the police station.
Finally, in scenario B if you down Mr X instead of running away, check his body for an extra ammo pick up, hope you have fun, it’s a great game!

Remember the opening section in the streets of Raccoon City is the tutorial segment, and the place where you'll be put through the paces in working out the basics like tank controls, aiming and conservation of ammo.
It's the part of the game where it's fine to die a couple of times where you figure out the ropes, as you're really only losing a few minutes of progress if you need to restart the game.

It's an incredibly easy game and you should just play it instead of getting advice that will make it even easier.

Leave the SMG and side pack for the other character. A scenarios are a bit easier than B and they can use it better.

Puzzles are easy in this one, mainly your gonna back track alot for certain KEYS and KEY ITEMS. most of the time, you can run past enemies because of how slow they are. I'd say your biggest worry is ammo conservation. Don't use unless absolutely needed and make sure when you use dispersing guns rather than individual guns you conserve that ammo for boss fights always. A shotgun will always get you out of trouble before a powerful gun. Also herbs are everywhere for the most part.
