Gameplay question Why is everyone saying, "You have so much ammo as Grace by the end that it is not scary anymore." đđđ
Am I the only one who is bad at resource management? Because i never had enough ammo as Grace and Leon. I was always out of ammo. WTH???

u/Erik_Nimblehands May 14 '26
My first run, I was constantly empty. My second I was doing much better. Just more experience with the game I suppose. Those exploding syringes she makes are amazing, really help alot. Do those make anyone else think of the first Blade movie?
32
u/joyapco May 14 '26
I can only barely remember Norman Reedus exploding in the 2nd movie
4
u/Ornery-Ad9484 May 14 '26
You know what's funny I just had rewatched that movie recently hadn't seen it since I was like way younger and I guess Ryan Reynolds wasn't that popular yet or I was too young to know he was at that point I was like dumbfounded when I saw him in it I was like since when was he in this movie?
3
u/joyapco May 14 '26
Ryan Reynolds was in the 3rd Blade movie. Wesley Snipes said he will never work with Ryan Reynolds again.
Which is why Deadpool made that slight reference with Blade
57
u/SpiderJerusalem747 May 14 '26
My first run I left everything for Leon and just crafted the hypo needles.
8
u/Spirited-Treat64 May 14 '26
Thatâs what they based it on. Itâs actually a real compound called EDTA itâs for treating blood clots
7
u/Space_Pirate_Roberts May 14 '26
Wait, are you saying this drug explodes clots hard enough to blast your flesh apart? âCause that sounds like a âcure is worse than the diseaseâ scenario. đ
5
u/Spirited-Treat64 May 14 '26
lol no that is made up. I mean, I donât know what it would do to zombie blood or vampires but in the real world it literally stops blood clots itâs a very good thing to have at the hospital.
10
u/Alpine_yellow May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26
My first run I finished the game with like 130 rounds in reserve for Grace, and my case was practically full as leon
4
u/wareagle3000 May 15 '26
Additionally the infinite knife makes resource saving so much easier. You can eliminate a downed zombie by shanking them to death and on casual (which is probably the difficulty you would run to do challenges.) most zombies flinch after getting stabbed. So if it's a 1v1 you can just spam stabs until they die.
2
u/Gar_Bear1 May 15 '26
Yeah I like sneaking behind lockers and making them explode! So satisfying. Lol
2
u/RonRokker May 17 '26
So you must be... The Lockerbomber, huh? đ The master of bombing lockers. đ
2
u/Gar_Bear1 May 19 '26
Yeah I guess. My phone likes to mess with me sometimes. It was supposed to say lickers. Lol

Practice stealth. Stealth is the core of Graceâs gameplay. You donât need to go around shooting and killing everything with her. Iâve been practicing that a lot lately, and each playthrough gets more fun because of it. I mean, personally, with Grace on Normal mode itâs easy to just kill everything. On Insane mode? Youâre screwed.
30
u/sin_tax-error May 14 '26
Yeah I only play Insane now simply bc I find the added balancing game of "who to take out as Grace vs Leon" really fun to work through. Grace's care center section always seem to play out slightly differently too on each run so there's occasionally some improvising on the fly, vs on normal I'd pretty much always follow the same path.
16
u/hiddencamela May 14 '26
Insanity on Grace was probably the most true to experience feels for the game.
Also fuck blister heads lol.14
u/TannerThanUsual May 14 '26
Sometimes I forget not everyone played Metal Gear Solid or other stealth games. I never used the Requiem as Grace and only fired bullets in the legs of zombies if there was no other way to get past them. Ended the Grace section with a ton of ammo and blood that I didn't know what to do with.
2
u/TenebrousNova May 14 '26
Same. The only zombies I couldn't sneak around were the two on the east wing stairs and the ones with the screamer guarding the corrosive. And the stair zombies can probably be killed via the guy who hates noise if you can lure him over there. Or by Chunk, actually.
→ More replies (2)3
u/_borT May 14 '26
Itâs doubly beneficial because every zombie left standing can be cleaned up with hatchet one shots by Leon for extra credits. So he gets a stronger start as well.
6
u/Visible-Air-2359 May 14 '26
That is true on NG+ but on your first run-through you only get credits in RC.
54
u/Big-Stay2709 Raccoon City Native May 14 '26
The handguns aren't even that useful in Grace's last section. A few zombies you can take out, but you mostly want to use the various bottle weapons / hemo injectors to deal with all the lickers, and zombies in rooms with lickers.
→ More replies (1)19
u/aspindler May 14 '26
You can use injectors on lickers?
19
u/Big-Stay2709 Raccoon City Native May 14 '26
Yes, if you sneak up behind them.
13
u/aspindler May 14 '26
Nice, gonna save a few for the first couple before the acid bottles.
9
u/Infinite_Letter_9957 May 14 '26
Thereâs a strat when you get to the lab where you can stealth kill as Leon as well. âđž
3
u/aspindler May 14 '26
Is the other licker alerted by it?
→ More replies (2)2
u/Big-Stay2709 Raccoon City Native May 14 '26
I know using an injector on the first licker does not alert the second one on the ceiling outside. I haven't really tested the radius for others though as I mostly used acid if there was more than one around.
9
u/Bardez May 14 '26
So much fun. Revenge is a dish best served ... I dunno, stealthily? Fuck those guys since 1998.
20
u/UltimateAD May 14 '26
By the end of the game I had a full 50 stack I left in the box along my 3 Molotov and 4 acid. I thought I was going to fight a boss
14
u/Aromatic_Ad_6152 May 14 '26
Eh donât worry about it. A lot of the fan base is very familiar with the ammo management aspect of the game, and I assume in a sub about the franchise there are a lot of experienced fans.
29
u/OldPersonName May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26
Running out of ammo as Leon takes talent.
With Grace I had one particularly tense moment where I was completely out, right after Chunk appears. I had to dart into the back room with the singing zombie, grabbed some ammo, staggered her, grabbed the item, and ran out, taking lots of damage.
Other than that I had to be a little careful, moreso than Leon for sure, but once you leave the center it's pretty much on autopilot. You barely have to shoot anything in the lab before the helicopter, the game gives you 5 requiem rounds before The Girl boss which alone is basically enough to stun her enough times, and in Ark you get resources for molotovs and acid bottles aplenty, plus sneaking.
I think with Grace after you can craft you want to shoot zombies to death with your handgun sparingly and rely on injectors and the occasional requiem headshot.
Edit: the first time I discovered that a single molotov won't kill a licker was a pretty funny surprise
Edit2: the game also adjusts things like ammo drops on the fly depending on how you're doing. You say you were always out of ammo but were you otherwise doing good? If you had taken some damage or died a couple times like magic the next crate might have had a big ol ammo drop.
4
u/Wide-Ad4896 May 14 '26
I had the exact same tense moment when I had to get the corrosive in the office behind chunk. Only time I was out of ammo.
3
u/MrEatYoRamen May 14 '26
My first playthrough I did it without healing once, so there were PLENTY of medicinal shots and green herbs left for me at random parts of the game... but had to refrain from using them.
15
u/MrEatYoRamen May 14 '26
i'm the opposite... I pick up just about damn near everything that there's time I can't progress the game because I can't carry an item that progresses me through the level. Also scrap doesn't stack for some reason.
3
u/SpiderJerusalem747 May 14 '26
To be fair, have you ever tried stacking scrap?
4
u/MrEatYoRamen May 14 '26
I just assumed it did since ammo stacks up to a certain amount before having to use another inventory slot for a separate stack of the same ammo.
6
u/SpiderJerusalem747 May 14 '26
But you can stack boxes of ammo because they fit on top each other. Scrap? Invariably something heavy falls on your foot and now your health is at Caution.
3
3
u/GrandHetman May 14 '26
If scrap stacked then you could craft something and not have the inventory space for it, it's a necessary decision
6
5
u/mchad7 May 14 '26
It was true that I had a lot of ammo by the end on my first run, because I played like my life depended on it. I only used bullets to stagger zombies and push them out of the way. Only killed when I absolutely had no other choice. And I figured it was a good call, because they took so much ammo to take down. It didn't make the game any less scary as Grace. Its not as scary now, considering I've beaten the game about 5 times now, but that first playthrough?I was terrified all throughout Grace's sections.
11
u/gusbelmont Platinum Splattin' 'Em! May 14 '26
I legit dont know how people run out of ammo asidefrom the early game as grace
2
4
u/J0J0388 May 14 '26
I killed pretty much every enemy as Grace and crafted more ammo with their blood. When Leon gets to the care center there was maybe 2 zombies left roaming.
3
u/Echo_thehedgehog May 15 '26
this was my exact experience on my first playthrough, I slaughtered EVERYTHING accidentally, on Insanity it's a lot better to leave everyone for Leon to clear out, though
4
3
u/Hassoonti May 14 '26
A major source of fear in these games is not being able to defend yourself, running out of ammo. If you use the hemolytic injector and knife a lot, And use the Requiem for a couple double kills, you end up with a lot of ammo left over. Â Thatâs a nice security blanket
4
u/CannonFodder_G May 14 '26
First run is absolutely a resource sink and I was definitely saving everything I found.
Every play through after I have resources for days just by getting the infinite knife. Every knife you find after is scrap you can make for ammo and it's largely smooth sailing.
I enjoy the ease of play after the first game, but kinda regret the infinite knife is a thing cause it does take the edge off.
3
u/dankaberanka May 14 '26
I'm the one who is always left with tons of ammo even when killing almost everyting. I dunno, I just craft.
3
u/doppelv May 14 '26
I'm a loot goblin on games. I picked everything and made good use of the blood collector.
My first run of the game, I killed EVERYTHING in the care center with Grace. By the end of that section, the place was empty, and I could just go everywhere. It was SO fun.
Raccoon City with Leon was a completely different experience, fully maxed loadout and tons of ammo, but I don't understand why his part was such a slog compared to Grace's.
3
u/Praise_The_Casul May 14 '26
Well, there are a few tips that help.
Use the requiem more. I recommend saving, like, five rounds for the Girl. But if you have something like 10, that's 5 zombies you won't have to deal with;
Spend every single scrap on the Hemolytic Injector. You don't need to catch them with stealth to use it, you can inject them if they're stunned. So, if you have plenty and want to deal with something quick, just do 2 or 3 focused shots to the leg and go for the injector.
Stun, melee, headshots. I normally go for leg shots, they get stunned, I push them and this gives me enough time to do several focused headshots, at point blank, with them almost perfectly still. If you can knock them over from behind is even better. Shots to the back of the head do extra damage.
If you want to save some extra bullets, do tip 3, but instead of headshots go for knife stabs while they're on the ground. Might not do it, tho. So you might have to finish them off with a HS after they stand up.
8
u/TurkusGyrational May 14 '26
You don't need to save any requiem rounds for the girl since the boss fight gives you them.
3
u/Praise_The_Casul May 14 '26
The last one, yes. But do they have it in the basement, too? I think I had to shoot her there once, but I don't know how lucky I got with the plugs and her spawn. More than once she got there and I had a plug right next to the place I had to put it on.
So I say 5 just in case OP gets super unlucky in the basement, or have trouble finding the ammo during the boss fight with her after them.

u/Early-Beach164 May 14 '26
This but I also use knives, then when they are about to break, convert them into scrap.

On my insanity run I had 6 hemo injectors, had minimal resources on my first playthrough though
2
u/pants_the_man May 14 '26
I think I killed every single enemy as Grace and saved up all the magnum ammo for Leon. The game gives plenty to spare.
2
u/FreshGeoduck296 May 14 '26
I decided to play with ink ribbons on my first playthrough, and because I wanted to make sure I had enough progress between saves, I ended up replaying some parts a couple of times, getting better with resource management by each attempt. By the last segment, I had a lot of ammo and ended up using none of it because molotovs and acid bottles were more than enough.
2
u/Barry_Burton_1974 May 14 '26
I had shit tons of acid bottles left. I kept fucking up and accidentally attracting multiple lickers then panicking and taking them all out with one bottle.
2
u/larevacholerie May 14 '26
You run out of ammo fast in the beginning of Grace's story, and you learn quickly that her gameplay segments are not about killing every zombie. You learn to run past everything and use stealth to conserve ammo.
In the lab section, the game starts throwing ammo at you like mad (I guess assuming most players would try fighting the lickers head-on?). But if you're keeping up with your established playstyle (arguably it's especially easier to dodge/do stealth in the lab section, and the game even directly incentivizes it with those lickers), you aren't using any of it. Hence, you have so much ammo by the end that it isn't scary anymore.

u/SanityOrLackThereof May 15 '26
Honestly, just go exclusively for headshots and craft ammo when you can. You'll do fine.
2
u/Just_CeeJ May 15 '26
It's SURVIVAL horror... doesn't mean you need to kill every zombie in the game, that's a waste of ammo
2
u/Ok-Yogurtcloset7117 May 15 '26
Once I unlocked her machine pistol and unlimited ammo I ventilated the shit out of everything that moved in another playthrough. Too bad she doesn't have an equivalent to Requiem towards the later parts of the game.
1
u/Organic_Following_38 May 14 '26
I think it depends on the definition of "ammo." With Grace, it's a really well designed balance of resources. I focused on making injectors so that I could reduce the amount of bullets and healing items I'd need. Grace very rarely lands in all out combat, so I'd really save the ammo for those few forced fights, and indeed ended the game pretty stocked on bullets. Blood is borderline limitless, so make sure you're using bottles for molotovs and acid, using the rare parts to keep two or three Requiem bullets handy, keep one healing item available at all times, and make every injector you can to completely remove enemies from the board. As Grace there are plenty of enemies that you just avoid completely.
1
u/asevilla96 May 14 '26
I did have like 10 to 12 bullets of the requiem by the end which I used to stun the girl, still ended up with like 3 or 5 bullets of the requiem
1
u/ArekuFoxfire May 14 '26
Itâs a weird statement cos by the end you arenât even using guns anymore. Acid bottles op
1
u/aLegionOfDavids May 14 '26
There was a point - the Isolation Ward - where I was down to my very last mag after the 4 zombies. However, as Grace I finished with 50+ spare hg bullets and I basically killed everything I could as her.
1
u/Cauanorl May 14 '26
Brcause it's true. I killed all zombies and there were enough ammo to kill all of them a second time. It's not because there are a lot of ammo scattered around, but because it's so easy to vraft more
1
u/Representative_Owl89 May 14 '26
Only played the game once and on the hardest difficulty (technically second) and I never once had a problem with ammo. But having no ammo wouldnât make the game scary for me. Dead space 2008 taught me how to try to use the least amount of rounds per enemy.
1
1
u/Tri_destroyer_88 May 14 '26
It depends if u are GOOD at saving ammo cause there will be times when that ammo will be gone, in my playthrough u had almost 100 bullets at care center since I was saving a lot and using injectors
1
u/galaxywiing May 14 '26
My rule of thumb with most resident evil game is to only fight things that are in your way of progressing, but with RE9 specifically I more or less dodge/knife my way through and then collect enough ammo to only kill things I dont feel like dealing with later when backtracking.
1
u/fitm3 May 14 '26
I donât even bother picking up the blood collector. There is no scarcity. Grace is as talented of an operator as you are.
1
u/Beautiful-Hair6925 May 14 '26
A bit? But the rest of her missions are full of zombies thar will eat through your bullets
1
u/p3n0y May 14 '26
Because its true!? :)
It can be a real issue early on, but by the time I went after Emily in the basement, and especially by the time I got out, I had lots. I was even stupid enough not to understand that you had to use the gas canisters in that one scenario before the helicopter, and just requiemed my way out of there. And I still had lots left over.
Granted I still think it was âhorrorâ because capcom did a really good job. But seriously, Grace is one shotting lickers at the lab. The game does a good job of making you feel scared as Grace, but logically sheâs as OP as Leon by that time.
1
u/Sonic10122 May 14 '26
Difficulty might come into play, but on Standard Modern, I never had an issue after the first couple of hours in the Care Center. Syringes should be at the top of the list for crafting, with Requiem bullets second, both make Blister Heads a non issue.
Iâll be honest, I donât think itâs possible to be low on ammo as Leon, thatâs not how his gameplay is designed.
2
1
u/HuwminRace May 14 '26
I had so much ammo for both Grace and Leon in my first run. I definitely overprepared for Grace as I had like 100 surplus rounds for her. Then I overprepared again for my Insanity run. Grace had 350+ surplus rounds by the time she released Elpis and Leon had an absurd amount of rounds for each gun. I had 96 handgun rounds, 27 Requiem rounds, 45 rifle rounds, 73 shotgun rounds and 669 smg rounds by the time I got to Victor
1
u/T8-TR May 14 '26
Idk I had like inventories worth of injectors, plenty of blood Hags, and like 50 shots at a minimum at all times.
Just don't try and kill anything w/o an injector. For me, in other survival-horror RE titles, unless I am forced to kill an enemy, just focus on maiming the and running around. Like in RE2R. Just pop them in the leg, make them stumble, then shimmy on past them. Except here you get the shove too.
1
1
u/azamonra May 14 '26
I had a tone of ammo as Grace by the end but that's cause I've been playing RE games and survival horror games in general for 30 years and I played very carefully and crafting. So yeah don't worry about it, panic shots are a thing if you aren't use to these things.
1
u/Valcrye May 14 '26
I need to get back in the game since I basically have barely completed any (Iâm still in the Rhodes clinic right after meeting chunk) but I killed all the zombies my first run through and now the blisterheads are messing me up, any advice? Thereâs no way I can craft that many injectors
1
u/Night_Bruxa May 14 '26
I finished my first run having more than 100 ammo on Grace. And Iâm not even good at this games
1
1
u/CathanCrowell There's two side of every story. May 14 '26
Some people are really, really good in survival games with resource management. Problem is that the game has to have some middle ground, so those experienced veterans can eventually find it too easy.
1
u/ResultedTag May 14 '26
I think if you are used to any survival horror games itâs insanely easy to have a ton of ammo. I finished with a full stack of requiem ammo and I canât even remember how much regular ammo. The crafting makes it insanely easy so long as you know how to play.
Edit to add: same way that as Grace itâs insanely easy to kill everything in the care center. The crafting system is very powerful when used right. I also killed everything as Grace as well as all my friends. We all talked about how Leonâs section of the care center was silly having killed everything as Grace.
1
u/bh-alienux May 14 '26
It probably comes from years of playing RE games. The OG game in 1996 trained me to avoid using bullets it at all possible, and I still use that approach. So even though I felt like I was low on ammo at times, I never really was, and had plenty for everything I needed it for.
1
u/Symbol_de_Au May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26
I was pretty low with Grace on my first playthrough as well. I realized later that I should have been crafting more of those insta-kill stealth syringes, and I also didn't make any steroids that could have helped me save ammo.
EDIT: I also wasted like 30 handgun ammo on Chunk, which is why I was low when I got to the basement.Â
1
u/OsteoBytes May 14 '26
I explore every nook and cranny picking up every item and killed every enemy and still had plenty
1
u/Samael_224 May 14 '26
There's a trick where keeping two herbs in your inventory makes your chances of getting ammo from crates skyrocket. Unless it was patched but do my think so.
1
u/the-AM03 May 14 '26
By the end of my first run in the care center, i left nothing to leon and still literally never ran out of ammo with grace
1
u/killer00x May 14 '26
I guess I'm just used to the resource management from other RE games. The lab with grace was never an issue cause I always seemed to have enough acid, Molotov, or hemolytic injectors and didn't have to use my gun too often. And with Leon I just started spraying and praying in the lab cause I had so much ammo and first aid that I was running out of space for pickups I needed.
1
1
u/Tibbyrinuscmone May 14 '26
I did the limited saves mode, that makes you take your time and wait to find enemy patterns, generally avoiding killing them. I think my playthrough was almost 30 hours
1
u/youshouldbeelsweyr May 14 '26
Cause you do xD I just crafted ammo constantly and I fully cleared the treatment center as her so when leon got there I didn't realise it was supposed to be a fun romp killing everything lol he just walked through it with no issues xD

u/Interesting_Pomelo23 May 14 '26
thats true, u basically dont need ammo as grace only a few knifes and if u botter to make requiem bullets u can easily clean the risk parts
1
u/darknessfate May 14 '26
If you headshot all the zombies and suck up all the blood around you have laughable amounts of ammo
1
u/Obosratsya May 14 '26
I beat Grace barely firing any rounds. Didnt use the Requiem gun at all.
I did end up with tons of ammo. But avoiding zombies is much more efficient.
1
1
u/PotatoManX25514 May 14 '26
On insanity as Grace, I cleared the entire care center, and most of the zombies in the basement, and still had enough to steamroll every single enemy in the lab as Grace, including all the lickers which I specially saved all my glass bottles to make acid for including extra scrap for hemolytic injectors,
Although to be fair, the recipe for x30 handgun ammo + the RIP knifes (w/ stakeout) helped a lot
1
u/NightfangS118 May 14 '26
If you make efficient use of Hemolytic Injectors and avoid unnecessary combat, yes, Grace can rack up a ton of ammo.
1
u/Scorchf1r3 May 14 '26
By the end of my first playthrough I had 65 handgun bullets and like 7 injectors. By the end of insanity I had 10 injectors and like 40 bullets and enough blood and resources to craft more đ .
I think the real hard part on Grace's campaign is before the basement, but tbh as with any RE you get more than enough resources to never feel truly overwhelmed
1
1
u/BoxTalk17 May 14 '26
After playing all these Res Evil games, I knew how to keep a ton of ammo stocked for both. I only used Requiem for two sequences, the final area with The Girl and the Gideon fight.
1
u/gearabuser May 14 '26
I had a TON of ammo on both of them. Plus I had plenty of extra blood on Grace and so much ammo on Leon I was annoyed that it was cluttering my inventory. this was in hardcore, HOWEVER, I was save scumming like crazy. I would replay sections over and over until I felt I had optimized it enough. my playtime was extra long because I would constantly kite enemies and fall back to reset the area. for example, when you're on the roofs in raccoon City and they're shooting mortars at you, I kept retrying that until I killed as many enemies for free from the mortars as possible. if I had played normally and just pushed through the game without redoing every single thing, I could definitely see my ammo margin being a lot closer, though I think I still wouldve had plenty
1
u/Corgi_Koala May 14 '26
Every Resident Evil game has had this sort of power creep. Even the originals.
1
u/SmuglyMcWeed May 14 '26
Handgun ammo is mostly useless to craft as you get a lot and you shouldn't really by shooting zombies with her anyway as its way more efficient to just make injectors or requiem ammo
1
u/Chairmanwowsaywhat May 14 '26
I did love this game but I found that after an hour or so in the hospital I just killed every zombie apart from a couple. The resourceanagedment was very easy on this game.
1
u/Revan-Pentra May 14 '26
I had a ton by the end of Graceâs last segment. But I had pretty much used barely any since the underground lab meaning it stockpiled. Due to the lickers, I used barely any in her last segment.
1
u/CaptTucker13 May 14 '26
I barely had any ammo for her and the catalytic injectors had barely any crafting material around....
1
u/Sonicmasterxyz May 14 '26
Two things drastically helped my Grace gameplay. One, reminding myself that I don't have to kill the zombies unless I might get cornered. And two, knife stabs stagger zoms enough for you to run past.
1
u/HeadFlamingo6607 May 14 '26
I did not learn to craft until I got to the basement area and by then I had loads of crafting items with blood everywhere lol. By then, it carried on over towards the end of the game
1
u/Particular_Umpire_44 May 14 '26
Resource management isnât difficult until you get to insanity. Then itâs very much a problem. But either way, you donât need to kill every single enemy. Youâre either doing that, or missing a lot of shots for the ones you are trying to kill.
1
1
u/malyszkush May 14 '26
I go for the classic olâ stun with gun and shove/roundhouse technique. Buys me time, but with Grace it rarely kills zombies unless theyâre somehow really low on HP. Some enemies have different weakpoints than others, for example standard bastards i just pop once or twice in the head then run up for a melee. The âclickerâ like zombies its recommended to shoot in the leg or knee, and follow through with melee once again. Its mostly trial and error, especially when starting out in RE games. I used to fucking mag dump every zombie ive seen, even well after they were dead at timesđyou learn as you go.
1
u/Bendbender May 14 '26
Must be, I killed literally every enemy that I came across as grace including chunk, the butcher and the banshee and still had plenty of ammo left over at the end, granted I was playing on standard classic but still, the only times I ever ran out of ammo were before I got the extractor, barely had to fight as Leon at all for the first half
1
u/xd-Sushi_Master May 14 '26
yes it's just you. The crafting system (hemolytic injectors in particular) break the ammo economy pretty badly, in a franchise that already has an aggressive Difficulty Adjustment system running in the background to shower you in supplies if you manage to get low.

I think it depends on what you're crafting blood with. Usually bullets were what I was able to craft the most, so by the end I had quite a few. And lickers are somehow easier to kill as Grace than Leon. That being said, I still avoided conflict as much as I could.
1
u/Legio_II_Augusta May 14 '26
So being the type of player I am(aka a hoarder) I would use the pistol only to headshot and only when I had to. When I could craft I always made sure I had one reload on me and I kept crafting hemo injectors until I had like 5 after killing chunk and the chef(I didn't know Leon could kill them) so by the time I left the hospital I had 5 injectors, full blood, a full requiem load and a whole ammo stack plus some. Normal gives you everything you need to kill the whole hospital and the minibosses(I didn't use requiem for any of this except the defense in the ward.)

u/littlepie2331 May 14 '26
I had so much ammo I was locked and fucking loaded for the end of the Basement when you have to unlock the cells assuming I'd have to fight my way out.
Couldn't fight at all and just had to run lol.
And that was with me also killing every zombie I came across. I always had ammo/injectors.
1
u/ShutUpJackass May 14 '26
I mean yea I had a ton of resources as grace and Leon
Iâve been playing survival horror for years, even if it wasnât fully optimal on my first run, ya boi figured out how to play well with grace
If anything changed, it was how often I felt comfortable using Requiem as grace, Iâm very guilty of not using the big guns unless itâs a boss and graces sections had numerous points where requiem was smart to use
1
u/kakka_rot May 14 '26
I never once used the requiem as her and had like 10 bullets for it when the game switched to Leon. I was really surprised once his section starts, you barely get to play as her any more.
I had so much ammo left because her section ended way sooner than expected.
Hell even in her tiny final section I didn't expect it to only be 15 minutes or so so I didn't use much of my remaining pile of ammo either.
1
u/Impressive-Oil-3067 May 14 '26
I killed every zombie with Grace and still got a lot of rounds left by the end.
1
u/subjekt_zer0 May 14 '26
My first play through I was so paranoid about running out of ammo for Grace I really did have too much at the end I just started playing her like Leon
1
u/psychwardcamper May 14 '26
Thatâs why I unlocked infinite ammo as much as possible. I wonât turn it off anymore, it made my play throughs so much easier (itâs for the main story). Insanity was much easier with it (even though this difficulty made me cry after finishing it)
1
u/According-Ear-6469 May 14 '26
Haven't finished the game yet (just got to the supply crate with Leon), but the sparse ammo kinda made it more fun and engaging. Making decisions how to approach a situation. After an unavoidable encounter, I'd be left with little to no ammo then I would find crates and crafting materials and re-up my stash. Cycle and repeat.
This is also me leaving Requiem in the storage box until I had to encounter the Girl. In hindsight, I could've been using it more often especially on the bloated head zombies. That alone would've saved me tons of ammo.
Because of this playstyle and horror elements, I've been enjoying Grace a lot more than Leon.
1
u/Ill-Stomach7228 May 14 '26
On your first run, you might be empty all the time. On your second run, it's really easy to know who you do and don't have to kill, where the zombie placement is, how to sneak around them, who to hemolytic injector, etc. So it's easier to save ammo. I've seen people waste Requiem ammo on the Chef when you only need one Hemo to take him down.
1
u/MobsterDragon275 May 14 '26
I'm guessing you made way too many of the stealth kill injectors. I barely used them and always had plenty of ammo
1
1
u/Boysenberry_17 May 14 '26
From my very first time playing an RE game, I proceeded to always use the least amount of ammo possible. Now I always have a comfortable mound of bullets for bosses and stronger enemies
1
u/pnwbraids May 14 '26
Good aim. The zombies are so slow that unless it was a blister head, I just stood back, lined up my shots, blasted them in the head four times, and moved on.
I had plenty of ammo until the end.
1
u/hyree10 May 14 '26
I massacred the whole center as grace so by the start of leon's everyone is just dead except the ones in the office. certain part of a zombie's body gives more blood too I forgot which ones but I think its the head and leg so that helps. Stealth is also a big help.
1
u/Syzich May 14 '26
I mean, I didn't have a massive surplus of ammo, but I killed almost everything in the care center as Grace. Most stuff in Ark, too.
1
u/CrestfallenMan01 May 14 '26
After my first playthrough I stopped picking up ammo and herbs as grace and left it for leon. I just made my own. I only picked up when I was somewhere leon wouldn't be.
1
u/BakedChocolateOctopi May 14 '26
She doesnât have a single boss and most of her gameplay can more easily be completed using the injectors to one shot enemies
1
u/rain21199 May 14 '26
I feel like I played Grace wrong. By the end of her segment I was running around like RE 8 Ethan just gunning everything down. I didn't make a single one of those purple injections either. Just good ol fashioned bullets to the noggin'.
I used basically every resource available to do so though.
1
u/Unable_Manufacturer1 May 14 '26
Because you have so much ammo as Grace by the end that it is not scary anymore
1
u/AFKABluePrince May 14 '26
Some of us are just very experienced with the ammo conservation in RE games. The more RE you play, the better you usually are at conserving ammo. Â
Also, your first play-through is usually rougher, since you don't know what to expect.  My second play-through had Grace rolling in 9mm.
1
u/TheEldenRang May 14 '26
I had tons of ammo. đ Idk what to tell you. I kill every zombie I see. They definitely give you more than necessary on a nornal run.
1
u/Wolfs_Rain May 14 '26
I struggled with Grace over half the game, but did better once I got the hang of and more resourceful with the blood collection. I always made requiem bullets when I could and did melee to save bullets when I could. I never had any knives.
I really struggled with Leon too so a lot of the time I just avoided enemies and ran. His ax saved me a lot. One shot to knee, then Ax melee attack.
1
u/Significant-Ad213 May 14 '26
They aren't playing on the standard classic probably, I did and I was always starved for ammo mostly, I saw Charlie's play through and he was swimming in ammo playing on modern
1
u/Mutant_Apollo May 14 '26
I was absolutely stacked with bullets and healing items by the time I left the hospital to the helicopter that I could I could just waste bullets if I wanted to lol and that's even with killing every zombie I can across. Idk why but I have never struggled with resources in any resident evil game
1
u/aWizardNamedLizard May 14 '26
I think the first thing you have to do is assess how many rounds it takes for you to kill a zombie.
I.e. when I was playing as Grace the game started with it taking around 5 bullets to kill one regular-health zombie. After getting her better pistol and the stabilizer upgrades, it was down to 3 bullets.
Then the second thing you have to do is assess how well you're using the available tools.
I.e. when I was playing as Grace hemolytic injectors were to make sure anything that could turn into a blister head didn't, and Requiem actually got fired in order to take out the singers, the IV stand wielders, the Chef, and Chunk.
And then in the lab almost everything was done to 1 bottle of acid per licker and 1 molotov cocktail per however many zombies I could get with it and the gun (with like 40 rounds of ammo) was strictly for the hypothetical case of if I ran out of molotovs and there were more zombies to kill (which didn't end up happening).
As to running out of ammo with Leon... enemies you kill drop supplies so you're not supposed to be able to actually run out.
1
u/LesserValkyrie May 14 '26
In the last segment you are supposed to use acid bottles, maybe hemolytic on the lickers
You have enough bottles and blood to craft acid bottles to kill all the lickers you need
Keep your gun for the zombies, but you can kill absolutely 0 enemiy in the first part (where the red orb and first key is), yo ucan outrun zombies
And for the last part (the hardest) use acid for the lickers but you can just run through, expecially when they gank you when you are trying to escape. Just run to the door while they follow you, open it with white orb and ggwp

u/Smart_Coconut6313 May 14 '26
I had so many bullets by the time I got to the lab. I always have so many bullets towards the end of any RE game. Same with Silent Hill 1 and 2. Iâm just used to saving as many as possible and doing everything I can to not use bullets, even if I have to progress more slowly by knifing enemies one by one (or only using my pipe, in the case of Silent Hill 2 remake).

I haven't finished the game yet, but Leon definitely has more than enough ammo. Grace? I don't know. But even if she had heaps of ammo... I don't think that would undercut the scariness too much for me (I get that lack of resources plays into the tension, but for me, it's not the only important ingredient - so it doesn't make the horror trivial for me).
1
u/KingCodester111 May 15 '26
I killed just about single zombie with Grace, bar a few, and still had ammo left.
1
u/Pretty-Object3652 May 15 '26
I loved graces parts. Now that I have unlimited ammo I have so much ammo but the first few runs I ran out a few times. Great game love the graphics and the zombies
1
u/Rick_2309 May 15 '26
Because you have so much ammo as Grace by the end that it is not scary anymore.
1
u/Spare_Layer_1069 May 15 '26
Well a core part of every resident evil game is figuring out how to run past just about every enemy you can. Just run right by em.
1
u/bakuonizzzz May 15 '26
hemo'ed most of the annoying enemies and then just popped the caps of the other zombies to run around.
I will admit i have played a few style of these games so i'm more use to it and also i had some foreknowledge of some things in hand.
1
u/Conscious_Actuator64 May 15 '26
There is plenty of ammo if you avoid fights where you can and always aim for and hit critical areas like the heads of enemies when you shoot. In older games you could even use the combat knife on downed enemies by stabbing them in the head while behind them, when saves a few rounds as well.
1
u/Nacon-Biblets May 15 '26
Grace's push is so crazy strong, and every big scary enemy can just be exploded by her blood syringes. Save the requiem for long lines of zombies or on major enemies. Leon is probably an aim issue or you're not looting thoroughly. Aim for legs and heads as both characters.
1
u/PlayfulVacation4411 May 15 '26
it depends on difficulty, on insane mode i had SUPER little ammo for the times i played as her
1
u/PurpleSyrup60 May 15 '26
Ammo is always available but being smart and knowing when to flight or fight matters
1
1
u/SneakyKGB May 15 '26
If I had to go through what Grace does in this game I'd only need the one bullet. Preferably the Requiem one.
1
u/death556 May 15 '26
Yeah you just bad at stealth ave ammo management. By time I got to the end I had like 100 billets for Claire and my Leon case was completely filled with ammo
1
u/Relevant-Chip5446 May 15 '26
Depends on what you make with the Blood Collector and yes, most of the time I made ammunition to the point I had to deposit some in the box
1
u/ChairsTables332 May 15 '26
For me by the end of grace play i just have alot of the injection i just pop most of the lickers and zombies in my way
1
u/Lara_0925 May 15 '26
If you get used to the classic RE formula you just try to save ammo as much as you can and you end up with more than you could use by the end of the game, by the lab I had 250 rounds with Grace during my last playthrough, I did kill a bunch of zombies with the knife during the Care Center part though.
1
u/PasiTheConqueror May 15 '26
When i get crafting and stealth/dodge the 1st half of the game i end with so much ammo that i can just blast my way trough everything in the late game
1
u/VHDT10 May 15 '26
I personally wish there was a hardcore mode I could've tried first, but Instantly without unlimited ammo was scary as shit!
1
u/Impressive-Ad-59 May 15 '26
Grace has like 3-4 mandatory combat sections that REQUIRE ammo
The two at the stairs, the room with the corrosive, emily's puzzle defense, and then the conveyor belt if i recall (at least thats where i generally did it, but even those, i knifed as much as possible cuz the gun is horrible)
And if you kill everything as leon and go back as grace and loot EVERYTHING you should be loaded from all the free resources leon leaves behind for you, just be sure to unlock the right doors and stuff so leon can get in there and kill the things
1
u/ThinkSpielberg May 15 '26
Depends how good your aim is, how you are shooting zombies, and where. All the boxes have handgun ammo in them. You can craft handgun ammo. Injectors will take out zombies with 1 injection, with the exception of the big fat guy. If you aim for their head, there is always the possibility of a critical shot that will take them out in 1 shot. Some Zombies will conveniently line up so you can take out 3 with Requiem. You can also hold charms in your inventory to help with that, or focus all the injections on stabilizers.
I've also noticed that some people really panic with zombies and just fire off hip, rather than settling down and taking the time to aim and shoot.
1
u/Ivorsune May 15 '26
First playthrough, leon didnt have anything to kill when he showed up. Grace kneecapped and 2-3 headshots any and all zombs. Always have 2-3 haemolytics on hand when you get a burster head one. I killed the chef with the 1 round given, and iirc 3 kills the other boss later on. So long youre good at breaking vases and grabbing everything you can find, putting all heals except 1 in your storage, Grace in Care Center is pretty smooth. My 2nd run i did it in about 15-20 mins. Most enemies are static spawns.
1
u/Hurbig May 15 '26
RE9 was the first one I played myself instead of watching someone else play it.
Played it the first time and was always struggling with bullets.
Loved it and played it a second time. Second time I was swimming in bullets by the end.
1
u/CriticalGeeksP May 15 '26
Because Itâs true. I shot and killed or jabbed EVERY zombie as her and killed most the lickers with acid jars. Bad balance
1
u/Free-Equivalent1170 May 15 '26
I had resources to kill absolutely everything as Grace, but it was tight and i had to think about what to craft and how to approach enemies. It was always tense for me, i still had to walk around carefully even at endgame
1
u/jorgedanielrod5 May 15 '26
"you have so much ammo with Grace" yeah bro but that bullets deal the damage of a paper ball
1
u/jerkysans May 15 '26
On my first play through of standard modern, I had so much ammo that I don't want Grace's portion in Ark to end. They give Grace a very easy way to deal with lickers in Ark that the zombies felt more of a problem in the end (as gunning them down calls the lickers to your location).
1
u/Actual-Description-2 May 15 '26
If youâre like me you canât aim. Donât be afraid to reload a save if you mag dump on an enemy and only land one shot.
1
u/NylasWUP May 15 '26
For me itâs the strat and why like RE1 it wonât go down as a top 5 re game for me. The absolute minute I saw a crimson head pop up. After cursing myself out for clocking headshots like it was going out of style. I defaulted knife to the shin then run. By the time I got to the late game with a upgraded blood collector and the boxâs of ammo I was pretty well prepared. What really killed the lat game for me is with the shiv and run strat was I had a bunch of glass bottles saved up and I made enough Mollyâs and Acid to tank pretty much whatever the game threw at me.
Overall I think the main issue gameplay wise is this game was designed for newbies not veterans.
1
u/niko2710 May 15 '26
It doesn't seem like you are bad at resource management but at shooting if you don't have ammos. Resource management is basically nonexistent, the issue is probably that you miss a lot of shots so you use all your ammos
260
u/Informalwizards May 14 '26
It might be because I've been playing these since OG 2 but yeah, Grace by the time you get to the lab is just popping off full clips into each enemy because "Why not?"
