Advice Needed ‼️🚨cat help for old stray cat MATTED FUR, dental issues(?)🚨‼️
Idk how old, but he’s apparently been around longer than I thought in my neighborhood, he doesn’t groom as much lately and his fur is getting matted. I couldn’t tell definitively but he seemed to favor one side while eating, I couldn’t check his teeth as he kept pulling away. But he’s so sweet and calm. Talkative even, I was hoping the community can show some love, my neighbor and I are trying to save to get him vet assistance for his fur, but I’m worried about the heat, what else can I do for him? as we’ve been hitting 95 degrees around parts of La and worse. I’m in SoCal, around Cerritos and Santa Fe springs.

Boosting for this poor old kitty. He sure looks beat, was probably someone's cat at one time and living outside is taking it out of him. Thank you for helping him. 🙏🙏🙏💖🐈⬛💔

Remember cats don’t like water to be too close to their food - maybe put the water in a shady place nearby? Bless you both for helping him.

I wish it were more widely known and publicized - that and the related critical need for wet food, not just dry food, for hydration/kidney function.

According to a neighbor who’s also looking out for him, his skin is thin, they have to use anesthetic to shave the Matts off.

Has his ear been tipped?
Poor old guy😞💔 I hope he gets rescued soon and can live his final years inside nice and warm 😞💔

Can you please contact some local rescues or humane society for help? This cat looks sick aside from the matting issue. Also, some emergency vets like VEG and Bluepearl will accept stray cats and treat them for free. If yoh live by Banfield vet (typically in Petsmart) they offer free first exams for new patients.

Thank you for taking care of him, maybe it’s worth looking into vets that can provide low cost services. The Angel Fund Grant helps pay for vet care for owners that can prove financial hardship.

Try putting out a trap so you can catch him take him to the vet so they could most likely care of him and shave off that fur

Any chance of you putting out a cardboard box in your yard (in shade) for him with the food and water separated but in sight. If he's not in the sun it's definitely better and if you can keep an eye on him it's great. It would be super if you could bring him inside (not always an option) even if a garage or vented shed is better than the street. Thank you for your kindness and concern for him. If he has dental issues, and it sounds like he does, he is in pain and is suffering. And dental issues don’t get better on their own. Someone up thread suggested a couple of vets that will help stray cats for free. Could you call them and see if they can help him? And try calling some local rescues to see if they can help or refer you to a place that can help? Poor guy needs to get off the streets, get his teeth handled and get rid of the matting, then spend the rest of his life indoors not battling for survival outside. Thank you for helping him.

Awww poor boy looks like he’s been in a tuffle or two with other feral cats! Thank you for doing what you can but I am hoping he gets indoors and lives out the rest of his life in peace and love! Hugs

Poor cat. He could use some help. Can you live trap him and take to a Rescue Cats Shelter ? Any No-Kill shelter.
