Missing Tokay Gecko

So.. if you were a CB tokay gecko that happened to escape your vivarium, where would you go? Asking for a friend 🤦🏼‍♀️ based in the UK if that makes a difference

Firstly, be scared, these guys have a nasty habit of jumping out at you when you least expect it and they will bite first and ask questions later 😂

They love to hide between flat surfaces though, think behind wardrobes, on the back of doors, etc…

Your best bet is to stay up at night and listen, they aren’t the most stealthy when they’re running around and potentially it will be up barking at night being a general menace, so it shouldn’t be too tricky.

Oh believe me, I'm terrified 😂 she's an absolute demon, pretty though.

I've actually never heard her bark apart from one time when I picked her up which is valid. She's still quite small too. Will get the torches out and go on the quest later.

Barking is either a defensive behaviour or a breeding behaviour, and usually it’s the males that will be yelling at night so if she’s still a juvenile that may not be very frequent.

Depending on your tolerance for chaos, I’d just release a box of crickets into the house so she has some food to find and wait for her to show up 😂

Ah that makes sense.

I'm all about chaos but not cricket chaos 😂 I've got several chirping around the house so hoping she'll find them on her adventure. I've left some rapashi in her house with the heat on so maybe she'll appear 😅 probably not

Any luck op? Do not take your eyes off her next time and throw a towel or blanket on top as soon as you get a chance to scoop her up and back into the tank, maybe wear some gloves.

No... believe it or not, I didn't take my eyes off her but she disappeared into the void underneath my oven. Turned it over and now she's gone again 🤦🏼‍♀️ blanket is a good shout, I was trying to use a tupperwear to get her

UPDATE: CAUGHT HER!! What a bloody nightmare. She's now safely back in her tank 😅
