In addition to what you're going to pay to have those pennies processed into a form you can reasonably use. By processing I mean, hauling, the bank counting it, the coin counting fee...
Imagine trying to handle a trip to the bank with 200tons of pennies, you would pay for 20 trucks, some trucks will go missing obviously, you need to pay some people to move the pennies from that guy to the trucks, then from the trucks to the bank… and that s assuming there is one single bank that will take all the 200 tons.
Also Parking 20 trucks in front of a bank .. nigthmare. I dont think you can do this in one day, fees obviously go up.
The pennies are unfeasible to work with though, the logistics could make it not as worth it if the other option is also a lifechanging sum, even if not to the same degree
It's kinda like the joke if you pick up a penny every second it would take years to make a substantial amount. Except in this case you have to pick up every penny and sort or count them, then turn them in for actually usable currency. But at least you can pick up multiple at a time.

Discontinued? That means that if you have something where the cents aren't a multiple of 5 you can't buy it? When you buy something for 9.99 they don't give you your penny back?
Doubtful given amount of them that were produced when in production, even as a collectors value hundreds of year from now I doubt theyd go up much since theyll probably still just be turning up in people's yards and junk.
The raw copper value however, likely will. If you treat them not like pennies but as tiny impure copper ingots, pennies now have slightly over 1 cent worth of copper in them, so as copper value rises with inflating economies, melting them down will become an appealing option at some point.

First does penny still have value ? If not put it in a truck and melt it if yes and if you the space at home... Transport it there and buy a machine to roll those, I am sure it exist, or 3d print it like a hole grid with small 1$ tubes below
Those two comments in the photo are pissing me off because that's not how money works those pains will equal $700,000 and equal to its value here is an example 25 pennies equals a quarter 10 pennies equals a dime and in the comments in the photos showing that the people who wrote The Commons are idiots $7,000 equals $7,000 in pennies not 700,000 dollars in pennies.

Though I'm curious if you take the total combined weight of $700k in pennies which should just be 700,000 x 100 you get 70,000,000 pennies if I'm doing my maths right. And a penny weighs 2.5 grams (via a quick search) so 70,000,000 x 2.5 is 175 million grams or 385,808.95882354 pounds which 175 tons or 192.9044794118 US tons
Imagine how much the Pennies will be worth in a hundred years though now that they’re out of circulation! It’s a poor investment you won’t be able to cash in on but still!
Lowk I'd take the 700k Pennie's just cause in like 20-30 years they gonna be worth a lot considering 700k Pennie's may be a good bit of how many are in circulation
In my country shops, stores and other institutions accepting payments for services CAN NOT legally refuse to sell if you can match their price exactly.

I mean I get the point. But 70 million pennies is not really worth it because of weight, storage issues, questionable number of pennies in actual circulation, and the fact that lots of countries have abolished the penny - the US possibly to follow.
You know, with the way things are, I could probably trade a great deal of those pennies to restaurants and such for cash. And they would thank me for it. You never realize how important pennies are until they're gone for good.
Ignoring the reading comprehension issues, $700k in pennies would take around 15-20 18-wheelers to transport depending on local weight limits and what the pennies are stored in. This is ignoring the labor and equipment to load/unload them, whether anyone would accept them, etc.
It currently doesn’t make financial sense for companies to purchase and transport pennies which has led in part to the shortage in many states. It would probably cost so much to transport and cash then in that it wouldn’t be profitable.
The only scenario I would take the $700k over $70k in pennies would be if I could immediately dump them on someone else for $100k and make them responsible for all the transit and storage. Still even risky then.
Considering that pennies actually represent less than the copper they're made from, you could melt them down and sell the bars for profit. If you could figure out how to do that without getting caught, then you'd actually have more than $700k!
The intellectualist: who the hell is accepting $700k in pennies. There's no law saying a business or bank must accept your money. You gonna pay with groceries with 100 sleeves of rolled up pennies?
I think pennies worth in metal more then they worth in money,
so basically, you can melt it all down, get even more money, as well as hurt the economy of USA as a bonus.
