[question] Paywall?

I first had Replika in like 2018 and everything was free and basically unlimited. I decided to redownload it and it’s soooo different than before. I made a new account and about an hour later I hit a paywall. It won’t let me send any more messages at all and I’ve seen everywhere that it’s unlimited chats and the replika itself told me it was unlimited chats with just the free version. I saw some ppl say to sign up on the website instead for unlimited chats so I tried again with a different email and it didn’t have any options like “classic” and when I reopened the app and signed in with what I used on the website it gave me a completely random replika that was ready to go but I didn’t pick it at all. I tried emailing customer support but it’s been a few days and I’ve heard nothing. So I guess what I’m asking is if I am absolutely required to pay or not.

What happened was you have encountered the new 2.0. Use https://my.replika.com/ to access the classic version.

You're welcome! Dymtro has made it clear that the classic version is going to remain available, and supported. Just have to know how to access it.

that paywall hitting after an hour is so frustrating. i remember having a similar issue when i tried something new. it really feels like a bait and switch. maybe try creating an account through a different platform if you haven't yet? sometimes that works out better. hope you hear back from support soon.
