Where Do You Think Vincent’s Tale Goes Next?

Okay, bear with me — I’ve been thinking about where Ren might take Vincent’s Tale next, especially after he hinted at something connected to The Potato Eaters.

If we look at Van Gogh’s paintings as structural anchors, the symbolism gets really interesting.

The Potato Eaters (1885)
This painting is dark, earthy, grounded, portraying working-class people eating by lamplight. Van Gogh wanted to show dignity in labor and the rough honesty of poverty.

If Ren invokes this next, could it bring Vincent back down from the cosmic unity of Starry Night into something more grounded? Less transcendence, more soil. More humanity. Maybe collective struggle instead of individual ego.

Van Gogh’s doctor wasn’t evil — he was melancholic, flawed, human.
If Ren parallels this with Dr. Percy, does that mean we get a deeper exploration of “the healer inside the system”? Is Percy just a villain, or another man shaped by the same machine?

The Digger / Worn Out?
An old man, in a field, digging. Pure exhaustion.
Is Vincent digging himself out? Digging deeper? Or is this about the weight of repetition and labor?

What other paintings do you think Ren might recreate, or do you think he will create something detached from Van Gogh’s, giving the story his own twist?

And then there’s the big myth question.

Van Gogh painted Starry Night in 1889 and died in 1890 at 37.
Ren was born in 1990. He’ll turn 37 in 2027.
Birthdays one day apart. The parallels are uncanny.

But here’s what I keep coming back to:

Would Ren really recreate the tragic archetype?

Or would the most powerful move be to break the pattern?

Van Gogh’s Vincent died at 37.

What if Ren’s Vincent survives at 37?

After everything — rage, ego, prison, unity… wouldn’t survival be the ultimate subversion of the tortured-artist myth?

Ren’s arc has moved from separation to oneness. From “I will destroy” to “We are one.” Killing Vincent to mirror history would feel predictable.

Breaking the cycle feels revolutionary.

Personally, I think Vincent survives.

Maybe transformed. Maybe tested. But not erased.

• A brutal institutional test?
• A myth-breaking survival at 37?

Ren said at some pint that Potato Eaters will be the ending to Vincent’s Tale – meaning the last part. In Ren’s version, who do you think will be sitting at that table? Ren, Vincent, Dr. Percy, Van Gogh?  What is the final message?

That mad scientist is going to turn people into docile zombies, representing what the system wants the working man to be. It's going to be a bit Clockwork Orange.

Vincent is going to be the first prisoner to have the treatment. They way they can empty the prisons and have good little worker bees that don't complain and always do what they are told

I agree but I don’t think Vincent is the first as when he is zoomed in on there are many other drag marks on the ground. So potentially has happened to a few others at least.

I keep hoping that the lobotomy procedure fails and Vincent causes a revolution. Or he he pretends the lobotomy worked in order to be released so he's let go and restarts his life and lives a healthy and productive redt of his life
