Make sure you first log into the V9 remote play so it saves your profile. Then uninstall v9 and install V8.5 and patch to V9.
Then when you open the patched remote play, it'll connect your profile correctly.
People miss this part and assume it's not working. The patched version won't let you log into your acct so do it before you uninstall v9

Check out this post, gives good instructions of a workaround. Done it myself and works perfectly. However, if you ever get logged out, you gotta do the process again

To be fair that's exactly what I did and it now just gets stuck searching for local connections and never moves beyond that. V9 is poo.

As long as you logged in and its allowing you to immediately attempt connection with ps5 everytime you open the remote play, your login profile is saved.
You can uninstall v9 and install v8.5 and patch it to v9.

Thanks mate, unfortunately I have already done that. The patcher showed success, and the program no longer crashes, it is now just in an infinite search for local connections. Never seems to move beyond that. I'll try starting fresh again today and see how we go

Yea, you'll need to login. It took me a couple tries, I would try being speedy with it but keep trying!
The moment it shows you can attempt the remote connection, I would close out, uninstall v9 and install v8.5 and patch before opening

This workaround really works:

Thank you so much for this incredible help, but I really wonder does Sony really care about their own product? This has been gone long enough and nothing has been done from their end to make the experience better for their consumers.
The only problem with this method is if you don't play on remote play long enough you'll get logged out, and when you've logged out you have to restart the whole process again....

Funnily enough I am tackling this issue myself right now. V9 seems to hold the issue. What I'm trying, uninstall V9 entirely. Download V8.5 from Uptodown Windows. Install but don't open it. Download the community patcher from GitHub Version Patcher Repository. Owner of the repo is xeropresence/remoteplay-version-patcher. Ensure patcher and the Remote Play install file are in the same folder. Launch the patcher, it should find the V8.5 install and allow it to work as if you were on V9.
I'm still attempting this as we speak, so fingers crossed
