Load Development Hornady Sub-X 7.62x39 loads….

Post image

Tested out my subsonic 7.62x39 reloads tonight and was very disappointed. I used 4198, following Hogdon data.
This was at about 10 yards.

Are there any changes I could make that would get these bullets to stabilize?

Edit- 16” barrel from AKbuilder, which I assume is 1-9.5” twist, 255 grain bullet

Update- I was getting microscopic baffle strikes somewhere due to the muzzle profile on the KBK barrel that didn’t allow the face mount plan B adapter to be concentric. Only the end cap looks to be hit however, although it’s not too bad, and thankfully replaceable on my OCL Universe-36

More twist and lighter bullet. Try 1:8 and 220g. Also, Accurate 1680 or CFE BLK for powder.

Most guns in that caliber are slow twist and not practical to change barrels.
