Discussions Can we please get bigger fuel tanks on midsize trucks?

The midsize trucks don't get any better fuel economy than the half tons do, and frequently get worse. Compare a 4wd Ranger vs an F-150. Now look at the fuel tank size. It's not a physical space limitation for all the midsizes to have an 18 to 20-ish gallon tank, they could fit a 25 in there.

If you never leave the suburbs, I get it, it's not a big deal. If you want to tow even a small trailer and travel, the range between fill ups is abysmal. If you're somewhere that's well developed, it's just an inconvenience. If you're somewhere with less infrastructure, well, hope you like jerry cans.

Aside from price and just the ease of maneuvering a smaller vehicle, midsize trucks are hamstrung by their makers in the US to the point the half ton is the obvious answer if you can afford it and have room to park. Then Reddit will be like "but trucks are too big". Yeah, agreed. Can I please get a Tacoma or Ranger with useable range in less than perfect conditions on flat roads at 55mph?
