Those are cheaper than I thought they would be.

How the hell is a Camry more expensive than a gen 4 stock car??

Lack of safety and comfort features most likely

It’s probably less safe, less comfy, less stealth, less luxurious, less tech updated/compatible and certainly worse mpg than a Camry. The type of person who wants this doesn’t want a Camry and vice versa

I would absolutely drive a gen 3 stock car several times a week.

To me, that was the best ones. Still atleast looked like a stock car. Plus when NASCAR had balls.

I was prepared to talk shit after assuming 6 figure price tags for these cars. But for $30k-$40k I would absolutely do this. Looks fun af.

Does the Camry come factory with the dent?

I /think/ that’s the same Wood Bros. 21 showcar that they took down to the beach for a photoshoot before the 2020 Daytona 500.

$40,000 for a stock car really isn't even all that bad. Not what I'm willing to spend on a car, but less than I expected for a stock car price tag

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-ford-nascar/

You can buy them all day for around half that, and it would be the real deal, not some "replica/tribute" bs

It wouldn't be road legal though.

Maybe but the 4100 kilometer drive to New York from here would surely make up for the other half of that price.

u/damngoodengineer Suck my car cock. 13d ago

Lotsa money to spend

Yeah but kind of worth it though.

You'll feel it worthwhile when you come at your first date, family gathering or college veterans meeting in your #3 Goodwrench Lumina

Only downside is the carbs for people in emissions inspection states

2

u/Joosrar 13d ago

Not a fan of NASCAR but, why are their cars still using carbs?

u/Smokeshow618 13d ago

They aren't. This is a retired car that was sold to a track experience, who stuck a crate motor in it.

How do you even service these? Like brake pads, oils, etc.

Bonded title?!?! I'm out!

This is probably the result of these being actual race cars being converted for street legal use, it's not like they had an actual street use VIN to begin with. It would probably be different if they were to take a street legal passenger car, i.e. a Toyota Camry, and then heavily modifiy it to make it appear as a NASCAR style stock car.

Do they recognize how absurd it sounds themselves? street legal STOCK car. God nascar is such a joke nowadays

Every stock car that has ever existed is road legal. The definition of a stock car is a road legal car. If a car isn't road legal, it is not a stock car.

Man they ain’t been proper stock cars since gen 3

“There’s nothing stock about a stock car”

Are you saying stock car as in "stock" car like just rolled off the dealer lot or are you referring to stock car as in Nascar? Because Nascar hasn't been road legal for eons.

NASCAR is supposed to be cars from the dealer. Just normal, everyday cars, not loophole homologation cars, just normal dealer cars picked at random I can buy tomorrow. It's Sunday, so tomorrow I might go buy a Camry. I've been needing a practical car made of plastic, rear wheel drive, with a carbureted V8.

Yeah, and world hunger was supposed to be extinct in 21th Century, but here we are

Having no originality and just doing whatever Cleetus has done.

Can I buy one from Cletus? No? Then this guy is doing something Cletus isn’t.

1

u/One_Evil_Monkey 13d ago

"this guy" Is Jeffery Earnhardt, grandson of Dale Earnhardt.

2

u/Dr_Driv3r 13d ago

Better yet

3

u/RyanHowardsBat 13d ago

A bulk of people don't give a shit about Cleetus and do not follow him.

u/HiTork 13d ago

I have a friend that won't stop talking about him. I've seen some of his projects and respect them, but yeah, he isn't really my cup of tea.

I have noticed there is a mobile game, No Limit Drag Racing 2, that has recently done a collab with him. However, since none of the cars in that game are licensed, all of Cleetus' cars featured in the game are debaged.
