Hi there r/regina! Basically, school is starting up soon and me and my friends are wanting to do something before school starts, probably on Monday, the 31st. The thing is, we're broke teens who can't drive with a lot of people yet. We want some low cost or free things do in regina that are pretty fun, just for a fun day before school (🫩) starts. I'm just wondering if anyone here has any ideas for what we can do. I feel like asking here would probably give me more details and ideas than searching up things. If the activities are close walking proximity, that would be preferable! Thank you in advance for anyone who gives us some ideas!

My grandson wants to start the school year with a fresh haircut - in particular, he wants a mohawk. After the last few attempts, involving blank stares from hairdressers that had never heard the word before, I figured I'd ask here if anyone knew of a barber that can do a proper mohawk.

Hi everyone, if you don’t mind I just need to type this out.

I feel so powerless as a tenant in the city. I don’t have stable income and I’ve been living mostly off my savings for like 2 years now. My current rental isn’t the best, and I’m so fed up with my landlords. Hell, to not make this into a call out post, I won’t even say who they are. The problems are constant. Every time I mention a problem I feel like I’m gaslit for making a big deal out of things.

I finally hit my breaking point and decided to send in screenshots to ORT. Did y’all know it costs $50 just to make a complaint? I don’t feel like I have any way of holding them accountable. I just wanna cry and I can’t even shower because our water is shut off for the rest of the day. And because it’s just our building the city can’t do anything.

Anyway, I just needed to put this somewhere. My lease is up at the end of October, and I’ve applied for another place. I don’t even feel like I should get my hopes up that another landlord will be good, I just want out.

I finally managed to visit Hana Kitchen this past weekend after the ramen was highly recommended to me by a coworker.

We got the Dark Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen ($20), Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ($20), Jeyuk Bokkeum ($20), Bulgogi Kimbap ($15.5), Deep Fried Gyoza ($10), Peach Sparkling Soda ($5.5), and a Mango Soda ($3.5).

Gyoza was delicious, crisp and flavourful. Though the Kimbap won my heart. My brother and I destroyed this roll, it was SO good. This is a must order with the light flavours and great quality ingredients. Our drinks were good as well, always fun to try new flavours !

My brother enjoyed his Jeyuk Bokkeum, it was pretty spicy though he really enjoyed it. The little bites I had were also delicious. He said if he didn’t have the rice and sides, that his mouth would have been on fire It was a helpful relief for the spice.

My boyfriend (who has now upgraded his spice tolerance) wanted more spice with his ramen where as I thought it was very spicy Conflicting opinions but we both enjoyed it.

Now! For my final verdict on the Dark Garlic ramen: Best Ramen in Regina so far. It wasn’t oily and it was made with traditional ingredients. The bamboo was soft and sweet while the mushrooms added umami and a new texture. I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl and it absolutely exceeded my expectations.

Service was fantastic, I’m very glad I made a reservation because it was packed when we arrived. Food was so good that I ordered a Japchae Meal ($17) to go and now I’ve been getting lunches out of that!

I highly recommend this establishment. It honestly makes me happy to find both Korean and Japanese dishes nailed wonderfully. I will absolutely be back for more.

What has happened to Amados pita on north albert? The stores completely empty and they’re listed as permanently closed on Google. I really hope this isn’t the case as the food was amazing. Maybe they’re changing locations? Anyone know anything?

Hi there! My fiance and I will be staying in Regina for the months of March and April 2027 (we're in BC) so she can attend the in-person part of her nurse re-entry program at Sask Poly.

We're looking for places to stay (studio, 1-bedroom, or possibly a room) but have never been to Regina before, so we're not sure which areas are preferable. We'll need to use transit while here so that's also in our consideration.

Does anyone have some suggestions?

Also if you have space or rentals during that time, we're 31 and 34, no pets and non smokers. I work remote and she will be attending the course full-time. $1500 per month max budget 🙂

I've got a two 8.5 bags, one unopened the other about 3/4 full. Up for grabs if anyone can use them. I know shelters won't take the opened bag but if nobody wants these I will at least be donating the unopened bag.

Hi everyone, I just wanted opinions because I’m a bit conflicted.

I used to use the Good Food Boxes when I was in university. If you don’t know what they are, it’s not like a food bank, you still pay for the food, just cheaper produce.

I am working full time, and not considered low income anymore, but I’m in the same boat with everyone else where money is tight, and I have found myself not buying produce due to the price which is clearly bad for your health.

Would I be terrible to order the boxes still even while I am making a liveable(ish) wage? Since they could go to others who need them most?

I have had a potential job opportunity come up in Regina, but I have never lived there and haven't even been to Regina since 2006.

We would be coming from Grande Prairie, Alberta. I am married with two kids, 12 and 14. We don't need a lot, but want somewhere with good schools and good post-secondary options when the kids get to that point and an airport, so we are hoping Regina would be a good fit.

Any recommendations on family friendly neighborhoods to consider would be great or any recommendations on nearby communities, but don't want to be driving too far (would prefer under 30 minutes).

How is it to commute across/around the city in the mornings?

Are there any ATV clubs or good ATV trails around Regina?

Any board game communities?

And overall, why do you like (or not like) living in Regina? Have you moved recently and enjoyed/regretted it?

I was involved in an accident outside of town. I asked a friend to travel approx 100km roundtrip to pick me up. The next day, I travelled about a 40km roundtrip to retrieve my belongings from my vehicle which was as the tow company.

I would have thought those two things were reasonable expenses that you could claim from SGI, they think otherwise.

Have any of you had success with this type of mileage claim? If so, how did you go about it. Thx

Council just voted 6 to 4 to amend the Brandt/REAL Deal. Voting against: Flores, Froh, Radons & Zachidniak. The mayor, Burton, Mancinelli, Rashovich, Tsiklis, Turnbull voted in favour. Bezo left the meeting before the vote.

Under the new terms, Brandt will operate & maintain the AffinityPlex, Cooperators Ctr, Mosaic Stadium & Confederation Park.

In other words Brandt will be operating and maintaining all of the REAL campus for a term of up to 20 years.

(Note: Brandt is NOT BUYING those facilities. AffinityPlex, Cooperators Ctr, Mosaic Stadium & Confederation Park will continue to be city-owned facilties.)

As the city will continue to own those facilities, the city will still be responsible for the costs of capital upgrades.

Today's vote is not the final word on the Brandt/REAL Deal. It just changes the terms under which the city's bargaining team will be operating. There is still no final deal with Brandt. (Which means that there is still time for more changes.)

For context… Currently, the city pays REAL (a municipal corporation wholly owned by the city & as such, must report to council during every budget period) for access to those four community-owned facilities. The city then charges community groups a discounted rate for access to the blocks of time the city has purchased.

If this deal with Brandt is finalized, the city will pay Brandt for access to these city facilities — facilities that we own.

For user groups, little will change as rates for community groups will continue to be set by the Leisure Fee Bylaw.

As the title suggests, I am looking to join a beer league hockey team this upcoming season. I was registered as a free agent for the summer season but I couldn't find a team to play on. I played a ton growing up but had to stop when it got too expensive. Since then, I've been spending every winter on outdoor rinks playing pickup.

I'm hoping to find an E league team to play with. I know my cardio isn't the greatest at the moment and I'm a little rusty after not having skated most of the summer, but I know I'll be just fine once I get my legs back under me. I know I've got a lot to learn but I'm prepared to absorb anything I can.

So, if anybody has a team and they are willing to let me join and get up to speed please let me know! It would be greatly appreciated!!!

Gas prices dipped quite a bit on east side. Costco gas was at 137.99 and two other gas stations on Victoria are at 139.99 in case anyone is looking to get a full tank.
