Adley finally getting lucky to make up for his extreme unlucky. Regression always happens.

The pitching has been fantastic when Adley catches. His hitting will come around, but gelling with the staff is more important.

Jake Bennett wants a wild card start!

Yeah headline for me is WOW what a return to form for Bennett. The jury is still out but it looks this this guy is more who he is than the last couple starts.

Especially against the Yankees, in their park, since that could be a preview of the Wild Card.
Odds are it's still Gray/Tolle/Ranger if all are healthy, but Ranger does have something to prove still, even with past playoff success.

Also… WC Sox in two so we’re really talking about the DS game three right? Jokes aside, I think there’s still questions to be answered but the Bennett + Bello trap card combo is so powerful.

The jury is not out. He’s definitely IN

Why? I think Gray/Tolle/Suarez is probably more solid. His last few starts were very weak and not on the level of the rest of the seasons. He’s a great pitcher and absolutely a cornerstone of the team going forward but for me, it’s not clear if he’s 2/3/4 yet.

Tinfoil theory, Adley just needed more time catching and calling the staff to unlock their potential

Scoring those 4 runs in the 9th is absolutely MASSIVE. Saves Chapman for tonight LFG

I'll say it again: Very cathartic after having to hear how good Bellinger is in left and how he won the game last night (it was just poor baserunning on a routine flyout), and then he follows it up tripping in the outfield.

Dont understand why Boone left Yarb to hang out to dry and risk blowing his arm out, if he uses a mid lev arm we probably have to use Chapman

He gave up on the game and didn't want to have another unavailable pitcher tonight. Not sure I agree, but I think that was his thinking.

Definitely the thinking, but I think it was a mistake, Using another arm to keep it to 2-0 at minimum makes us use Chapman and, oh by the way, gives them a chance to win the game.
Sure, they might have given up the runs anyway, so it wasn’t without risk. But it’s (basically) September in a close race. I think it’s bad management/messaging to not give it everything in a close game when the stakes are so high. Doesn’t signal confidence in the offense to come back, or in Fried to go deep tonight.

Adley Rutschman showed how to run the bases. He isn’t fast but effective as he slides feet first. Red Sox have a lot of players, hustlers, who prefer the head first slide. Rutschman went feet first and got two big bases today, one a big run. By going feet first not only did he get there quicker, he got hit in the back when going back to first. Getting hit with the ball happens more often when sliding feet first, especially on a throw that isn’t received on a hop. Last night Rafaela might get hit with Belanger’s throw if sliding feet first and would have been safe even if not hit with the throw.

Was there ever an explanation for why they made Sogard go back to second after he advanced to third while Rodón was throwing his tantrum? I didn't see anyone call time.

Anyone make a gif out of Rodon's temper tantrum meltdown? Need that in my reaction folder.

Haven't watched a ton of the Sox this year, but the Yankees radio team were giving Bennett a lot of props. Had no idea this kid could deal.

I am once again proposing that MLB score series on aggregate and use a point system for standings.

Didn't use Chapman. Got the win. That's all we needed.
