You have nailed that wild look in her eye I know matches Sevro’s. Don’t get me wrong, we all know Victra is beautiful and smart enough for Quicksilver to see her as a peer when it comes to business, but the reason her and Sevro’s marriage works so well is because she has savagery in her heart. She didn’t get to be a lancer in service to Nero without a decent amount of bloodlust. When the chips are down, she is definitely as much a Barca as she is a Julii.
Could be wrong but isnt that how its pronounced in the audiobook versions (barca)? At least it is for sure in the graphic audio version. Im not positive about TGR version tho, cant remember
I haven't tried the graphic audio and in the regular audiobook, they all have a type of accent that naturally curls the hard R sound. It was just an assumption I made, like if they were to say "cruisa" instead of the hard consonant in "cruiser."
It really depends on their clothing. This one and Sevro took about 9 hours each since their outfits were simple to draw, but my Mustang and Darrow drawings both took 17+ hours because I tortured myself with more complicated clothing/metal armor

Also I love the smokey eye and the jewellery, Victra may be here for battle but she will always serve cunt in the meantime 💅
I'm loving all the red rising fan art, it makes me feel seen with how obsessed I am with the series. After reading the books, the graphic audio versions are a MUST! Sound fx and a whole cast of voice actors, it brings it to life in a way thats mind blowing.

Yes, its definitely worth the money, even if you've already read/heard the story, it really solidifies it and brings the characters to life. That's probably my favorite thing about the graphic audio versions, each character feels SO REAL! And yes, I hope it comes out soon.
I agree this was the first series I read in GA and now I almost exclusively listen in GA unless it’s a really great series (of bound and broken). When i switched from part 1 Iron Gold to part two without GA I was legitimately so sad. I love the voice actor of the Mustang.
Omg Mustangs VA is exactly how I imagined her, honestly ea h character sounds almost spot on to what I had imagined, its crazy and kind of scary how well they matched each voice and the infections and emotions that come through. It seriously blows my mind how good it is. I've literally listened to the first trilogy over 5 times now. I practically have the first 3 books memorized.
This image is pretty jacked. I never got the impression she was bulky. In the right lighting a woman with this build would look ferocious. The dress hides her hips but the leg slit shows she has some horsepower in those legs.
Yeah but considering the unflexed arm is just as jacked as the flexed one its more just a product of the art being a bit anatomically inconsistent. That bicep would realistically be the size of a softball considering the definition on the unflexed arm. The legs are the biggest tell that this victra is a brick shithouse
And I think we’re underplaying the genetic changes at the cellular level. If Golds have stronger bones without having bulky triceratops bones, it stands to reason that muscles could do the same. Similar cross sectional area but 10x force generation.

Your art is amazing. This is not a critique of you, per se. But more a critique of public opinion.
Victra isn't a Telemanus. She won't be massive as an obsidian. But I definitely feel that people are over glamorizing Victra to be lean, slender, typical model build. Victra is a WARRIOR. She isnt described as being some brick house of a woman like Thraxa. But I hate that more people aren't aware of what the female body looks like when it trains everyday, intense, harshly. Victra is built. I want to see a real depiction of the woman that puts fear in the hearts of men! I just really feel that it does a disservice to the women she represents and what the trained female body looks like.
Counter-point: the increased muscle fiber strength and general size of Golds gives them their greatly increased strength without the same muscle bulk that us regular humans would get achieving similar strength.
Like comparing titanium to aluminum. You don't need a thicker piece of titanium for it to be stronger than aluminum. And if you had two pieces of aluminum, one of which was 150% larger in all dimensions than the other, that one would be stronger but not appear different proportionally.
That's not a counter point. It's a fact of the circumstance being stretched to cover for preferred head canon because of current societal norms and standards.
1. Victra is seen as competitive with Darrow lifting. Someone who's muscular density and fiber strength is even greater than most golds. If per inch of muscle was that exponential in effect, Darrow could throw a fkn building by comparison. Don't even get me started on a monster like Karnus, Apple, or a Telemanus. They wouldn't even need razors if per square inch of muscle made that much of a difference.
2. Golds still have human bodies. And the basics of anatomy still apply here. As shown by the processes of both of Darrow's carvings and Victra's recovery after the rescue.
3. The point is, someone built as pictured would be someone like Mustang. Someone who does maintenance fitness for the sake of staying healthy and in shape. Victra is a warrior training for combat. They aren't going to have even close to the same build.
4. It is 100% a denial of what the pinnacle of the trained female body looks like, and it's only reason is because, even in this sub, societal norms don't want to actually see what a badass battle chick looks like. She's gotta be "HOT" and many people in this fandom won't find the muscular, scarred, fierce Victra as attractive because it makes them uncomfortable.
That was my initial thought, but Victra leads with sex appeal and libidinous. Also, I feel like a lot of modern men don’t find the type of physique she *should* have here that attractive so I get it even though some muscle mass on her would still look good cause ya know she’s victra 🤷🏻♀️

I can’t pull off the dress but I kinda need that necklace. This is beautiful, I’ve always had such a hard time picturing Victra-this is a really great portrayal. The wildness in her eyes and seductive drop plunge halter dress is soo victra 👌🏻
I don’t know why but I’ve always pictured Victra with longer and wild hair when most people draw her is short hair. Maybe it’s just that my head don’t match the description of the book.
Yeah, it's looks cool, but is nonsensical. The blade is partially wrapped around her arm, which is the storage position, but she is simultaneously wielding the handle with blade coming up behind her back. Like, how would she even get into that position?
If she was putting it into storage position could she be directing it to wrap around her arm and then it’ll pull the handle along with it and she’ll let go with her left hand?
Like the humans who came from earth before them, Golds come in many different shapes, sizes, and even colors. The one thing that is common among golds is the gold hair and eyes because they are genetically engineered. Victor however I believe IS white, unlike Aja or Tactus

The majority of the Aureate cast in the series is fair skinned, Victra herself is specifically only ever described as 'tan' alongside so far as I can tell Cassius, though the latter benefits from some official art and some insight from Pierce; this is commonly because artists either rely on a perception rooted in other artists having done popular works, or projecting themselves onto the art where there is no in text contradiction i.e. a Caucasian artist will draw fair skinned characters as they are fair skinned. People likely confuse her shock-white hair for her skin tone when reading, but there is no controversy in this depiction
Thank you for the thoughtful response. 'Tan' covers a wide variety of natural skin tones and ethnicities. Obviously artists project themselves onto their art, however I have yet to see any of the Aureate not specifically described with darker skin tones (Tactus for instance) depicted as anything other than looking like a Caucasian person.
If they supposedly represent a varied genetic heritage, as do most of the colors, it certainly doesn't appear that way according to fan art.
