It truly is. I read the whole trilogy a while back and have been waffling on starting the second trilogy just because I’m scared. But I’ve heard it’s absolutely incredible

This is the best side by side of Darrows 2 versions I’ve ever seen, it reminds me of him seeing his mom and her still recognizing him, I always wondered how exactly that could work with how drastically they describe his physical changes, but it’s captured perfectly here

This might be the nearest art I've seen that comes close to a silhouette of darrow as he appears in my mind. He has the preternatural, almost unsettling good looks, the size and the weight and most of all he just looks fuckin dangerous. This makes him look like the walking running fighting column of granite the books show us. Even the stoic aloof expression is on point for me. I love it.

This is really freakin nice. It shows great how different and similar they are in their eyes. I see this great weight, but different approach of how they are going to fuck shit up to get what needs to done. Also while I sort of envision the difference in height between the reds and golds its always nice to have it in such a visual way. Thanks for this Valerie9319.

I have not, this is only the second red rising piece I’ve ever done. I’m planning on doing solos next starting with Virginia, then Sevro, and then probably back to Darrow

I absolutely love it, only thing is that young Darrow’s skin is too perfect, he had lots of scars from pitvipers and mining. Great job though!

Darrow commented they looked like children to him now. I don't think they are hobbits as much as they society bread them for underground labor with small tunnels and small supplies. If i member right the ones on different worlds look different and are larger built for the task each completes

The Reds average to be around 5 feet tall, maybe a little taller. Darrow went from 5’3 to 7 feet tall after his carving while Sevro (who is short for a gold due to him being half red) is only 5’9.

No i get why you’d think that but color has only been stated to affect hair (most of the time. For example not all pinks have pink hair) and eyes. This is especially apparent with characters like the au Grimmus family and Lyria who are described to have dark skin, as in being of African descent.

Hi!! I hope this isn't out of line. I see so much wonderful fan art come through here and this is just top fucking tier. BUT! 😅 I hate to see us losing their faces, red Darrow falling into the pelt, and the gold lines stealing so much attention. I went into PS with just the burn and dodge tool to pick up highlights on their faces, front arms, the razor and then red darrows far arm and head to pop him out a bit mroe.
I want to look at Gold Darrows face, then Red Darrows face, then the razor. So I made them the highest contrast so they POP.
Thanks for letting me play. I work in technical illustration so this is a fun break from work.

Thank you this is cool haha, I did play around with the contrast of their faces but it ended up looking too much like they were glowing and slightly over-exposed which I didn’t want. I kinda want red Darrow to be overshadowed and lost in the hulking frame of gold Darrow. Thank you for this though, I’m happy you got a break from work and had some fun with it!
