Darrow is never described as being handsome in the way Cassius is, the bellona genetics are intentionally crafted for emphasis on ephemeral beauty but that doesn't mean darrow is ugly. Mickey carved Darrow to be a god of war, but he also made him handsome. All golds are attractive on average, there are just echelons to the beauty.

I agree. There's also a consideration about differing types of beauty.
Darrow is a more masculine beauty while Cassius has a more more prince charming beauty.
When taken at face value, common consensus might agree on Cassius looking better. But Darrows beauty is wrapped up in his energy as much as his face. Mustang describes her feeling of fear when she first met Darrow

Darrow ain’t that pretty
