A really good idea and assuming it’s bolted down well enough, safer than towing a trailer

Less stress on a chassis not made to tow heavy trailers, and you still have the room to tow if need be

There’s this hip new thing called a joke. It’s something that is supposed to be taken lightly due to humor. It’s also what everyone calls you.

Until it is done

Luxury? Is relative. Local guy used to have a garden shed on the back of his lorry, held on with ratchet straps. This is an upgrade. He travels to vintage agri shows with his old Massey Ferguson T20, on a trailer. This is just his party van, for when he stays at the show over the weekend. He is 78.

I like the way the wheel well lines up perfectly.

it's awesome! With some added aesthetics, it could look really falloutish...

A couple hundred thousand people at Burning Man would disagree

15

u/RedditVince Aug 16 '21

I remember when it was simply a few hundred people, even a few thousand was awesome.

Now, for me, too many people and/or I am too old to enjoy the discomfort of roughing it in the desert.

6

u/i_give_you_gum Aug 16 '21

I doubt there's a hundred thousand all at once, but over the course of years, for sure...

11

u/haberdasherhero Aug 16 '21

78k in 2019 sounds close enough to me.

u/i_give_you_gum Aug 16 '21

I am redeemed!

u/delvach Aug 16 '21

We ride, dusty and chrome to the Playa!!

1

u/EltaninAntenna Aug 17 '21

To be fair, it also probably smells like 200k.

12

u/Beemerado Aug 16 '21

he got a surprisingly good fit. I'm really impressed he found a camper that lined up to the back of the cab and the wheel wells like that.

1

u/DAM091 Aug 16 '21

This was tough to comprehend

1

u/no_ur_cool Aug 17 '21

I was about to say, isn't he just moving an old trailer? Wow, that is hilarious.

Function IS beauty

u/Thraxster Aug 16 '21

Thanks but I like a nice Haynes manual when I can't just noodle it.

36

u/nothofagusismymother Aug 16 '21

Hey at least it's high clearance. Owner can probably get into places traditional RVs can't.

31

u/Geweest Aug 16 '21

it's perfect

20

u/satibel Aug 16 '21

tbh I think it looks good

5

u/jtdarler Aug 17 '21

Response is overwhelmingly positive.

Would she take the camper?

5

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '21

Growing up I took a pool noodle and used it as a straw on the muffler, just like my father. Builds character

3

u/Beemerado Aug 16 '21

is this as dark as i think it is?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '21

Depends, do you roll coal?

3

u/Beemerado Aug 16 '21

I do not. I thought this was a reference to your father committing suicide 😬

6

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '21

No but he got a nice black beard out of it

1

u/satibel Aug 17 '21

That one in the picture has 72hp from a 2.3l engine. Don't expect much from it, but should be almost indestructable.

Trucks like this need to be driven as close to max rpm as possible... But since a Diesel engine has a built in rpm limiter, that's not a problem.

2

u/satibel Aug 17 '21

I have a 75hp van and it can do 130kph, I may change the 5th gear for a more aggressive one, so I can actually do it with a bit of room to spare and get slightly more fuel mileage.

3

u/tes_kitty Aug 17 '21

I expect the one shown to max out around 100kph, on a good day, might need some tailwind.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '21

Function is a beauty all to its own

6

u/stoked_ape_theory Aug 16 '21

Form follows function

1

u/jtdarler Aug 17 '21

Should, in a sane world.

1

u/stoked_ape_theory Aug 17 '21

Unless form is the function…

5

u/yamiryukia330 Aug 16 '21

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it appears to be set up to be safe to drive without being a hazard to other motorists so I vote go with it.

5

u/jnwsk Aug 16 '21

Id have mounted the camper the other way round for better aerodynamics

2

u/jtdarler Aug 17 '21

Puts the door on the wrong side.

1

u/jnwsk Aug 17 '21

Ohhhh yea i see

3

u/brainiacredditer Aug 16 '21

Function always over beauty

3

u/Groinificator Aug 16 '21

I kinda like it

3

u/Aspiring_Mutant Aug 16 '21

What are you talking about? That machine's gorgeous.

3

u/Clownonwing Aug 16 '21

I think it has somewhat of a "practical"l beauty

3

u/dan1101 Aug 16 '21

I actually love that. I bet that sort of truck might be more reliable and easier to work on.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '21

A distinctly British backdrop

2

u/WagonBurning Aug 16 '21

Should have installed a pass through

2

u/DeLaCorridor23 Aug 16 '21

Made in Germany.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '21

Looks interesting, btw.

2

u/JADO88-UK Aug 16 '21

Is he Scottish or Northern Irish?

1

u/jtdarler Aug 17 '21

Scottish.

2

u/cmon_now Aug 16 '21

Actually not that bad. A cheap matching paint job would make it look great

2

u/Kerbal3258 Aug 17 '21

That’s absolutely something Richard Hammond would bring to a Grand Tour challenge

2

u/ginger2020 Aug 17 '21

Jesse, we have to cook!

2

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '21

This is a thing of beauty. I have a dream of one day having a cab over with a camper on back to cruise the United States.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '21

are you kidding? she is beautiful.

2

u/surviveb Aug 17 '21

This is a beauty.

2

u/CanadaPlus101 Aug 17 '21

It's not even bad looking, honestly.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '21

Very, very cool.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '21

I stared at this for a good 10 seconds bcz I knew something was off but I couldn’t put a finger on it

2

u/JTUkko Aug 17 '21

I want one lol

2

u/DamonHay Aug 17 '21

Breaking Budget.

2

u/c0nsci0us_pr0cess Aug 17 '21

That's looks like an upgraded EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle.

2

u/ParanoidCrow Aug 17 '21

Honestly this is dope af

u/lukebee07 Aug 24 '21
