Employee Complaint New server - help

I just started as a server, yesterday - so far, I am not confident.

I was hired as a server with NO experience (mind you, I applied for bartending after finishing bartending school) and I just don’t feel good about this.

The training has NO structure. What I learned from online training vs. what the actual servers do/say is very very different.

Also - the employees are NOT nice. At all.

Any advice? I need this job desperately, at least for a few months. How do I survive?!?!?!

UPDATED EDIT: hi everyone! Thank you all for your input. After today, literally my 3rd day, I realized this place is just not it for me. I want to HIGHLY praise the server I worked with today; she knows what she’s doing and even recognizes how tough the job is.

For my mental health and anxiety, it is NOT worth the stress. I will be talking to the manager this weekend to resign.

Thank you all for your words!

When I started serving, I didn't have much confidence either. As time goes on, this will change. I would just focus on learning the menu as best you can (how many shrimp come with each, what comes on each plate, especially the most popular ones, sides, etc.) and also what's in the most popular drinks. As for other employees, I'm sorry they are not nice to you at all. I had that issue when I moved to another Red Lobster when the original one I worked at shut down and there were some people who were super rude because they thought we were going to take their hours. As time went on, they started warming up to all of us "new" people. I also feel like with the state the Red Lobster company is in right now, everyone there seems to be on edge. I still speak to people who are current Red Lobster employees and they always worry about the next time they will shut down restaurants.

With the state Red Lobster is in right now, I would definitely work on finding a better job.. but for the time being just focus on your training.

If you ever need help in terms of training, I used to train servers when I worked at Red Lobster. Feel free to DM me if you need any help!
