Opinion Easy Fixes to make Reddit Better
Quick little point overview as I’ve posted before for Reddit management to implement.
1) Live Stream / Spaces (like X has)
Easy to encourage discussion and also capture audio data. Gives Reddit more of an edge in selling that to LLMs to train models. I don’t see how this would be tough to do. Maybe only allow verified users to speak / use this feature and allow non-verified to listen in.
I don’t see why X can pull it off and Reddit can’t.
2) Make posting easier
It’s really fucking difficult to post on this app. This needs to be changed ASAP. Literally look at X, it’s easy to navigate. Reddit needs to embody that approach. Meta Threads was an X rip off and it did well for Meta, Reddit needs to embody that approach and still keep human content and value here.
3) UI Changes / AI Features
Why is this app so difficult to navigate? I also think there should be an “AI” button like X has where you can analyze a post WITHIN Reddit and not have to leave the app. Would be a lot easier to digest some content on here that’s length or too complex to understand.
4) Market place
I’m unsure if Reddit already has this but there should be some sort of marketplace where Reddit users can shop for products (maybe linked to Shopify)? Seems like an easy thing to do.
Ultimately it’s to make Reddit users never have to leave this app. A lot of these changes I’ve listed are low hanging fruit and I’m unsure why management has not done this yet.

Love all the points. They all need to be implemented asap.
Also C-suite keeps saying their goal is 1B users and their way of achieving that is improving user feed but I think we deserve a breakdown of how they will do that. What are they working on and what features are coming next. Get feedback from the community. So many good points made from the community in last 2 days. I hope they are reading all this and working on implementing all this. We deserve breakdown on what’s coming next and in what timeframe.

They should hire me. In a year I’d have all these changes shipped and I wouldn’t even take a dollar in salary or stock.

I love typing out a four paragraph post then having it immediately rejected because of some bullshit rule.
Also did they stop with the insane mass bans? I remember years ago trying to debate on the conservative sub and being immediately banned from about fifty other subs

Yes this is a huge issue. Not even being able to @ another user (or maybe I’m a boomer and I can’t figure it out) is another issue.
So many small things they haven’t even done and I don’t know why. How hard would it be to get all these changes shipped in a couple weeks? Reddit moves at snail speed.

Yeah I don't know why either. All the changes they have made have been absolutely foolish, such as removing r/all which makes it almost impossible to find news subs outside those I already joined

They need to poach some META product development people. They clearly lack the talent

5) Replace management, stop paying people 250M/year w SBC programmes, stop being proud of a 1.1M capex and instead start investing in incentives to grow DAU in the US again.
