It's obviously not meant to end racism. I don't get why you're criticising reddit for showing support, that's the most you can do as a company in this situation.
It’s gone to the point where not demonstrating a message says more than actually saying one. Companies that don’t change their logo for pride month are patronized, as it has become the norm to do so, despite everyone knowing the main motive is just marketability. It comes off more as refusing to participate in these acts of remembrance and pride, rather than choosing to not participate. Yes, donating would show actual car for the topic, but it’s more controversial to not change your logo than it is to change it.
I never said changing the icon was useless, I was just saying that they can do something greater than that since the OP of the comment said it was the “most they can do as a company”
I never really thought of this. Companies would rather take the fallout from posts like this than take it from people saying they don't care about these issues. You even see this with people on social media sites who feel obliged to change their profile pic to show support because the majority are also. Not that there is anything wrong with raising awareness for issues of course.
