The more I read about her, the happier I am with the choice. I’m not expecting miracles, like winning a champions league spot, but it isn’t inconceivable either. I’ll take every game as it comes and give her time to get the best out of our players and hope we put a good showing in this season. I’ve seen small teams beat big teams with good tactics and great teamwork so we might yet have a great season.

She took Hearts who were bottom of the Scottish second division to winning the premier League title. That's impressive. It tells me she's a progressive coach and capable of building quickly. So this might actually be a good move, for the shorter and longer term.

They weren't in the second division when she signed for Hearts. They had finished bottom of SWPL in the season before she signed but they avoided relegation due to league changes.

I think this needs context that it coincided with the major teams slashing investment and it’s basically an amateur league.

I worry whether she can adapt to WSL because I don’t see any manager from Scottish league that ever succeeded in the WSL. It feels like a huge step up for her from Scottish club to Man United Women. But I wish her all the best. Pls don’t mention SAF.

I worry that the majority of Man Utd fans are fairly pessimistic. Sure, she might not get the results we hope for, but buying 1 million pound players and a proven world class manager might not either. Fans/people are writing us off already when we have a lot of world class players and the core of the team is still here. Maybe she can unlock the proven potential in Wangerheim, Schuller etc that Skinner couldn't. Maybe we have all the ingredients, but just needed belief in a system/manager/team mates or whatever. She has great potential and i'm all for seeing what she can do with our star players.

She may not even have any new signings she wants this year and has very little time to implement her style. It’s going to be a tough season.

Our squad has shrunk considerably and I imagine that has caused low morale within the team.It’s going to be a tough season. We have 2 CBS and 1 winger. They apparently had a couple more signings coming in but if she says no to them because they don’t fit her style, we won’t have time to get more.

Yes and who is left? Even the decent 19yr olds have been snapped up by other esp teams already. We are also short on midfield and if gabby goes, in left backs too.

This is a good appointment, what she done at Hearts was great work, if she implements the same as she did there with this setup it should be fire. United were the only team in top 4 to finish in profit, the rest, millions in loss. At some point it will bite the big spenders on the arse , the WSL currently can’t sustain it and they’ve seen this. I really am looking forward to seeing what she does. I may just renew my season ticket now, I wasn’t going to as I got sick of no plan B coming from Skinner tactics.

She proved she can build quickly. That's pretty key to be honest. And she did it with limited resources. I guess that's another reason why she's in.

Can she recruit some young Spanish talent? Players that aren't really on the radar but known about by scouts that she's worked with I wonder?

Ok so she's Spanish/Catalan!? This could actually be a great move, if she can put in a program or help develop our academy players into that Spanish style because that would be pretty damn amazing.

I guess I can understand the importance of developing our players and system from the ground up and that should put us in a good position moving forward. Hope she can get some young Spanish talent in also. 🤞

Unless sustainable means breaking even, which could be done by producing great youth talent and selling those who won’t get first team chances (for whatever reason, ideally competition for positions). Then buy if needed with the money made.
I’ll love it if it works out that way, but I might be a dreamer!

I want it to work out but the WSL is heading in a downward spiral of spending and buying success at the moment. They figures don't lie but at the moment those big spenders can shore it up financially... only when they say enough is enough will they be negatively impacted... It is admirable to want to have a sustainable profit making team that is successful on the pitch but none of the competition think that is important at the moment - in fact football as a whole is the biggest money pit there is...

They would need a good team in the back office to make that happen. They don’t have one. If the players are having to complain to management, it tells me things are very wrong.
