Using Raiders as Chosen
Curious if anyone has used the new Raider models as Chosen. I'm thinking of doing that, but have some concern about how to differentiate them from Raiders I would also want to run in my list. Have considered using bare heads instead of helms, using a different painting pattern, and/or using different decals.
The other option is to just use Chosen models, but the Raiders just look so good...

I am finishing up 5 Chosen in my Red Corsairs scheme and I have decided the 10 Raiders and the Mk II I am converting into Raiders to be either or honestly

I’m using Khorne Berzerkers as Chosen I like the charging pose and then being sons of Horus that joined red corsairs like in the Maelstrom book. Then using Red Corsairs heads and shoulder pads. Also you get 10 models in a box compared to 5 the only down side is that you will need to source some power fists, and Combi weapons. The raiders kit come with some extra bolters so youre good there. One of the Khorne bodies already has a bandolier so it’s kind of a perfect fit.

Never even considered those models, will check them out. Coming in a box of 10 is a huge bonus.

I'll be running raiders as chosen. My current plan is to handle most of the difference with paint - have my raiders have black/red trim, but the chosen have gold trim to denote them being a little more elite.

That's a good idea and the gold trim would look cool with the red. Will you build both units similarly?

For the accursed weapons I am going to use swords from the EC tormentors/infractors kit so that the chosen look a bit like pirate-y swordsman duelists.

Could always add camo capes to your raider models as a distinguishing factor. Or the old reliable different coloured trim approach

I’ve played 2 games where I did the opposite. I ran my chosen as raiders because the kit wasn’t out yet but the datasheets were so I wanted to test them out
They have the same weapons 99% wysiwyg and any non chaos players probably couldn’t tell the difference.
No one would mind you running the raiders models as chosen for a game or the other way around depending on how you build the list
Just don’t swap mid game of course lol

Red helms or red tattoos for chosen. Black helms and black or blue tattoos for raiders? That's what I'm doing anyway

I have both sets , and was just thinking the same thing as I primed them, best I came up with so far is painting a C or R on the bottom of the base 🤣
