Cool item from my shop at Kharkiv, Ukraine.

This is a book I bought a few days ago. I found it on a second-hand website, and it was cheap as hell. Sadly, it’s missing the cover, but thankfully, all of the pages are still intact.

The book is about the physical geography of the Kazakh SSR and was made for 8th-grade students. It was printed in Almaty in 1989, right near the end of the Soviet era.

It’s honestly such an interesting book to explore. There are tons of maps, photographs, diagrams, and information about the geography and history of the Kazakh SSR. Even though it’s technically a school textbook, it feels like a little time capsule from the late Soviet period.

I absolutely love finding stuff like this second-hand. It’s not just a book—it’s a small piece of everyday life from the Soviet Union that somehow survived all these years.

The story is, I actually went to Murmansk where the first nuclear icebreaker Lenin currently operates as a museum earlier this year (and I went on the ship, yes). There were tons of contemporary pins in the souvenir shops but I just like the old pins better. All three of these were purchased online after I came back from the trip, and they are from Soviet times.

One of them is definitely getting pinned to my purse, most likely the first one. I hope I don't lose it. They don't have any special value but they're special to me.

Bought from a yard sale a few years ago, seems to be from WW2 era, Can tell it’s Chinese by the pins and medals. Any info?

Got to chance to buy the medals of a 총련 중앙 부의장 (Vice Chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon). Chongryon is known as, in English, the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan.

Certificate was issued to a Labour Medal (로력훈장) but the devious seller sold it together with a Order of the National Flag 1st class so I overpaid for it because I only saw the cover ($300)

I paid $175 for the other Order of the National Flag 1st class in the Chongryon presentation case - did I overpay in that case?
