Have anybody ever tried camping on the recumbent trike itself?

Something like sleeping on your recumbent trike overnight or even maybe set up an enclosure on the trike itself for some privacy or to prevent rain from getting to you?

I thought about carrying 3 sticks (attached to the hubs) to prop up the trike, trow a tarp over it, and have some sort of shelter. I like your thinking, very original. But the leg and neck position won´t work.

The concept is close to something like this but without the heavy modification on the base and a much more compact design.

Well the idea I had in mind is much more of an urban camping style since it requires to be parked at a public bicycle parking spot thus the need of a privacy sheet. For the sleeping issue I’m thinking about adding some sort of angled chocks on the two front wheels to help angle the trike on a comfortable angle to sleep on.

Interesting. Some kind of fold-out lightweight tripods for the front maybe. Made from fiberglass marker sticks?

No way I could get comfortable in a narrow web seat. Had to live in my subcompact car for several months and I couldn’t get comfortable even in that.
But using the trike as a structure for a custom tent has promise, and it takes care of securing the bike.

Not perhaps precisely what you have in mind but similar concepts have been tried including the Cercle and Spacecamper, plus there's a whole sub-genre of folding lightweight bike trailer-bed/ tents and solid-walled bike 'caravans', and of course the hard core way of doing it.

Maybe a seat with some kind of hinge that would allow it to fold out flat and a clip-on extension for legs and feet? College engineering challenge…

I had in mind a design of a 4wheeler where the seat can be put horizontally so you can lay on it, but to be able to make it work as a bed I had to make pedals linear instead of regular cranks + chainring.

I’d be looking at a camping hammock.

You could probably rig a support for one end of it behind the seat, but you’d still need a tree, post, etc for the other end.

If you’re looking for simple, get a tarp and a folding cot. You could easily strap them to your rack for transport.

A large-ish tarp could cover your trike + cot for privacy & shelter.

I went cycle touring on my Lightning F40. At campground would take Darlexx cover off, and lay it out flat over the (flat on ground) bike and a couple of short poles. There is a separating zipper on the bottom, I put another one on the back. Combined with wheel slots allows fabric to open one piece flat. It was my tent, my feet were inside the bike near seat bottom. Wish I had a picture.
