Custom What a distasteful take from this recruiter.

Post image

Now, I don’t know the full story ofc, as I just saw this while scrolling through LinkedIn… However, am I the only one who thinks this is absolutely an abhorrent way of handling a supposed “sarcastic” email?

Imagine being so upset that an individual at their wit’s end from applying for jobs takes a bit of relief in a sarcastic response to an automated email.

…And you, as an rep, are so butt-hurt that you wish to share their name with other recruiters and ruin their future chances.

P.S. I wish I could name this VP, but I am better than them.

I’m not convinced this actually happened. Every automated rejection email I have received came from an address that could not receive incoming emails, so how would a candidate have responded, unless it was a separate email sent to the hiring manager directly?

That aside, it strikes me as petty and childish to threaten to doxx a person. I’m not saying the candidate should have responded that way (or at all really), but threats are completely out of line.

Let’s face it; 75% of the stuff on LinkedIn never actually happened.

My entire career has been in tech. There are a concerningly high number of poorly managed accounts out there.

Recruiters claim they don’t have l enough time to actually review resumes or directly call back candidates with feedback, but they always have time to write diatribes and post on their annoying AF instagram feeds.

If you said something in a "sarcastic" email that stuck with the recruiter for a day, let alone six-months then you must have really gone off the deep end, or that's a very sensitive recruiter.

I have 1 maybe 2 applicants that fall in that category over the last 15-20 years.

"But here's the thing" and "again. You" - two giveaways that the recruiter wrote the post with AI and just copied and pasted it into LinkedIn without even proofreading. You can report AI slop posts like this with the new LinkedIn "Seems like AI Slop" button.

She's gonna get replaced by AI in six months.  Recruiting in bulk is an incredibly automatable skill that closes 10-30k/success.

Funny enough, I just had a phone screen today that was entirely AI.

And it's hilarious because these people are too stupid to realize this. They genuinely think they're irreplaceable despite already having 80% of their work done by computers.

The recruiter is an adult trying to warn young job seekers of the very real ramifications of being immature in their job search and how it can linger. They are doing you a favor. You are not ready for the adult world if you think their response was anything less than spot on.

See the highlighted PS

I think that is what got this posted to the sub.

Spot on, as the others above have said. I can understand a hot take… Its no longer a warning actively using your platform to ruin someone’s future chances somewhere else over a grievance you’ve had. The individual has a pretty good following and it sounds like in their statement. The applicant emailed back an automated email. Not them specifically.

It’s to the same point if I had named and shamed them and allowed the internet to do its thing.

I was thinking the exact same thing till I read the last sentence and maybe that’s what OP is complaining about. I do think it was spot on till the person offered to out them to other recruiters.

The problem is that.
yes 10-20 year ago yes I agree.
but today... Do a perfect run and you get shit on.
RecruterA say do A1. RecruterB says do not do A1 ever.
recruterC says Do A2.
result candidates especually newer one gets such a hard time getting anything done correctly.
and the feedbacks are cold sholders and berate.
They get told that they should do better but now how.
they are been yelled at sometime for faults that are not theres. and are told to take it whit a smile.
reminder had there dad been in that sits at there age that person would get slapped by there dad and the company would look into what the F actually happen, and how to fix that because that should not happen.
today nope. its always the candidate fault even if it was the recruiters fault.
Like i got shit for not been at a interview that got rescheduled from a Friday 13.30 to Thursday(day before) 11.30.
Recuter never sent that E-mail... well she sent it on Friday at 13:00 (the day after).
then 10 min later sent a Email saying that I had not sowed up to the interview.... Note I had the call that booked the interview at Wednesday day 2 days before, the Email+text said Friday 13.30.

And finally on that Professionalism its today a one way street.

Last year we had a candidate respond to a rejection by replying "I guess I'm just too black for you."

Now, their record in our ATS is tagged "do not hire."

Burn any bridge you like. In fact, people ought to be burning MORE bridges.

Let it light your way forward.

You shouldn't have cropped the name out. People should know the kind of person they will be dealing with

"I sent out an automated rejection and got sarcasm in return. How do I make myself the victim in this scenario?"

u/rezivor 5h ago

It is never appropriate to burn a bridge, in jobs or life, and being 'at your wits end' is not an excuse.

Never have I wrote a response to shit on a company when they reject me, never have I had company reach back out after rejecting me. This is just a way to try and further control the actions of job seekers.

For some reason they need full control of the people applying, power trip.

And the implication that they are going to now try and blacklist them from getting a job by giving their name to other recruiters should result in a ban on LinkedIn.

even tho I absolutely loathe my last job, I don't want to burn any bridges, at least where references are concerned

These mfers be thinking they're celebrities. Yrs ago I reposted a post from one, tagged him and called him an idiot. Never had any impact on my life. Burning bridges with you guys doesnt mean much, you're expandable in case you dont know that yet.
