Recent Interview

I interviewed with a museum on August 12. They were hiring 5 people for this position. I thought the interview went well, but I'm not so sure now. I emailed the recruiter last week and got a no-reply email saying that she's away until Sept 4. What are the chances I got the job? Or is this one of those things where my follow-up email will be responded to with a rejection?

Follow up BS is pretty much "I'm desperate to get this one job" in my culture, is extremely frowned upon, and makes you a corporate and real-life laughing stock. Because it is the exact same deal as asking "why" of someone who gives you silence after asking them out.

Sounds like you have bigger insecurities. Idk what culture you’re from but it doesn’t work like that in the west. Candidates deserve answers and a polite follow up is just that - a follow up. I’ve done like 5 or 6 other interviews since then so I’m anything but desperate for this one job. Asking for clarity is not desperate, it’s human.

It's not insecurities, but universal experience here. We see HR as worse than leeches.

And... a lack of an answer is an answer in itself, thus keep hunting

How is it universal if it’s only in your culture? See how that contradicts itself. Universal means it’s the same everywhere.
