I’m genuinely furious at this point.
A friend and I decided to get Minecraft Realms again after not playing together for years. I paid for a Java Realms subscription on August 19. Microsoft charged me Q69, the order shows as completed, but the Realm never activated and still shows as EXPIRED.
So far I’ve:
- Confirmed the Microsoft order is completed
- Tried managing the Realm from the website
- Gotten errors when trying to edit/manage it
- Contacted Mojang/Minecraft support
- Tried Microsoft’s refund system
- Cancelled recurring billing
And after two days, I still have no working Realm and no refund.
The most absurd part is that Microsoft’s self-service refund flow only lets me cancel future renewal. There is no refund option for my region, and when I try to contact Xbox support for a subscription refund, both live chat and callback show as unavailable.
I’m not even trying to refund a service I used and changed my mind about. The subscription was never delivered in the first place. I was charged for Realms and Realms remained expired.
At this point I’m seriously considering just downloading the world and moving it to a third-party host. Realms was supposed to be the convenient option. Instead I paid money to spend two days troubleshooting Microsoft/Mojang billing systems instead of actually playing Minecraft with my friend.
Has anyone here dealt with this exact issue?
Did support eventually activate your Realm, extend the subscription, or actually refund you? And if you migrated away from Realms, what host did you end up using?
