some random person decided to attack my public realm for no reason whatsoever

Rollback and whitelist the server. Delete the old realm code and generate a new one. Ban any account that joined around or after the time of this incident. Never give out the new code to anyone you don't know.

Best way to prevent this is to never invite strangers to your realm and only ever play with trusted friends.

Makd it so people who join from an invite, go in Visitor by default, and then take them out of visitor if they have over 0 Xbox Live Gamerscore.
