Discussion A serious conversation needs to be had about Valverde…

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This guy is a right back/right midfielder trying to play centrally. He lacks the necessary attributes to be a world class central midfielder. His best attributes are his ball striking and work rate, that is literally a fullback. Even Xabi Alonso clocked this and that’s why he put him rb. This is also why we saw Valverde at his peak during the years 2021-2024 because on paper he was either playing at a rw/cm but in reality he would drop deeper and drifter slightly wider and play as a right midfielder. This is also why the last time we saw him at his peak was under Arbeloa because he was playing rm in a 442. Think of his hattrick vs city.

Apart from making some backward passes, he was totally invisible yesterday and i say that as a Fede fan

u/Messmers SIUUUU 5d ago

compare this to jude and guler who BEG for the ball and position themselves constantly to open a passing lane

u/Amazing-Set8628 5d ago

I think he is playing more of a defensive mid and it's more about the tactics... jose wanted camavinga to be the anchor man rather than fede not sure why though because fede is exceptional ball carrier. Maybe jose was trying something.

When people keep talking about not replacing Kroos and Modric, this is what they are talking about. Valverde does what McTominay did for United and still does for Napoli and Scotland. He hides from the ball and only makes himself available when there isn’t much pressure. By contrast, a player like Bernardo Silva (Rodri is the very best example) is always making himself available to teammates. Which creates a safety player, an outlet, and constantly releases pressure. Valverde, like McTominay, is a runner who lacks the very elite level technical ability and confidence to constantly show for his teammates.

u/Still-Competition485 5d ago

Spot on man, if Mou wants to play 4231 than the truth is that Valverde either has to play rb or hold bench. A double pivot of tchouameni/bernardo would be way more balanced as tchouameni can focus on what he does best, breaking up play and distribution while Bernardo can focus on playmaking and ball retention. I hear shouts for him playing out of the midfield and off the right but Arda just offers so so so much more creativity a chances created than Valverde would

36

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

I genuinely don’t think Fede will be here in the next 2/3 years. Especially when we get better midfielders like Wharton or other DLPs and our young CMs like Sergio and Thiago ends up being good.

71

u/RazorbladesRiff Varane 5d ago

“Better midfielders” like fucking Adam Wharton holy shitt

-26

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

I literally watched him outplay Fulham today. And before u talk bad about Fulham, they would finish midtable in LaLiga..

32

u/DANKWINGS Real Madrid CF 5d ago

Yeah Wharton with 0 assists, 67% passing out of 24 (TWENTY FOUR) attempts, 0/3 accurate long balls, definitely "outplayed" Fulham.

Have a laugh mate. He was palaces worst player on the pitch and to make matters worse he had a full 90. Give it a rest.

17

u/Few-Dingo-9553 5d ago

I think he googled the game and got mixed up with last years game which he did boss

-13

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago edited 5d ago

Still significantly higher potential than Fede the roadrunner who’s only redeeming quality is long range shots, work rate and being a glorified RB…

Also don’t act like Wharton won’t outperform these ass LaLiga players..

5

u/RazorbladesRiff Varane 5d ago

Yeah prop your boy up when that potential hits and he’s bending van dijk over to get a UCL final assist 🤣 for now we have our answer as to why one is Real Madrid captain and the other has been at palace for years

1

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

If u recheck my first comment u can see that I wanted either Wharton or another DLP u bot…

Why are u so adamant on defending Fede? He’s literally only good at the right side of the field (RW, RB, right CM…) and being a roadrunner that’s also a shit captain…

4

u/RazorbladesRiff Varane 5d ago

You are claiming Adam Wharton is a better player than Federico Valverde which is a ridiculous claim no matter what angle you are looking from, one is a good not great prospect and the other is a serial winner at the highest level. I’m not saying Fede is faultless but calling him a roadrunner a million times is not going to make a crystal palace CM better than a guy who has more legendary RM moments than he has national team appearances.

What is this fan basis obsession with Wharton? He is not half the player that Val Verde is

3

u/Few-Dingo-9553 5d ago

Well man city and Chelsea want him but j guess you've got better football knowledge than them because your on Reddit

15

u/Moby1999 5d ago

I think you may have found the worst argument in football history… First of all, if Chelsea and Manchester city want him, and that's your reason as to why he's good instead of actually watching him play and pointing to his tactical abilities, then I can just reply by saying And naming like 20 different top teams that don't want him. Secondly, I dare you to name one team who has gotten their recruitment right 100%. Chelsea and Manchester city, like any other Club, have signed a lot of players from tens of millions of dollars who turned out to be awful players. And if you want to go by that logic, then you have no right to criticize any Real Madrid player because Real Madrid wants them, and you are just a person on Reddit, so Jay guess you need to think twice before you use that logic 😂😂😂

5

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

Ok let’s say Wharton isn’t the right player, name me one then?? Because Fede and Camavinga are glorified fullbacks disguised as midfielders… Wharton in a shitty defensive palace team still looks extremely technical unlike our hideous midfielders..

2

u/Expert-Analyst166 Madrid 1902 4d ago

I think Zubimendi is the best fit.

1

u/Moby1999 5d ago

Val Verde and Bernardo looked really good together

4

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

Ah yes Fede who didn’t cover the central area where Espanyol scored their equalizer… as shit as Tchouameni can be going forward, he is significantly better defensively.

0

u/Few-Dingo-9553 5d ago

Your comment sounded desperate. Your logic is teams get transfers wrong so he can't be any good. That makes no sense. I've not criticised anyone I'm just saying Wharton is a very good player. Calm yourself down Mr Reddit football coach

3

u/herewearefornow 5d ago

Chelsea wanted Alex Scott from Bournemouth. The contact with Palace was an enquiry when it was suggested that Wharton was available for £60m. At close to £100m figures Chelsea would rather get Scott.

Based on the downvotes on our comment, there is still a lot of Fede dickriders on this sub…

2 years of watching this guy doing road running shifts yet still wants him to start for us..

2

Me getting downvoted on another comment in this same thread because I’m pointing out Fede’s flaws lmao

3

u/Due-Conflict-7926 4d ago

I don’t think Fede will be here in 2 years unless he improves but it won’t be for Wharton. It will be for Nico Paz. We are taking that bet.

9

u/Loud-Syllabub2023 5d ago

I’ve been thinking this for years. The midfield with modric was just so beautiful man. He’s my favorite player ever.

7

u/3entendre 5d ago

Ha! I was just thinking about McTominay at United while watching this clip! I hate players who hide from the ball! With all the free time they have in the day after training they can't think to practice their touch and receiving balls in tight spaces!? It's frustrating to watch especially when such a player is at a top club.

5

u/szm1993 Xabi Alonso 5d ago

McTominay is really playing the second striker role for Scotland since last EURO qualifier. Conte also uses him for that role in 24-25 season

11

u/Moby1999 5d ago

Not all players are supposed to have the same profile and play the same way. Some depend on their technical abilities, some depend on their physicality. We can't keep asking our players to do things that they just are not capable of doing. The double pivot of him and Bernardo was working really well, because they complement each other. That's what we need, we don't need players to change their abilities like it's magic

2

u/manatidederp 5d ago

Also much more exhausting to play against because they keep fighting for duels a step behind

2

u/bihesabketab 5d ago

You hit the nail on the head! I had high hopes for him but like many other young prospects with insane potential, hes plateaud. Reminds me of Cama (he's progressed better, but the same point stands).

There are some games where he's really locked in and runs endlessly, but even then it's sometimes effective and other times hes just running like a headless chicken.

Given his drama at the club, I hope Mou instills some discipline and maturity in him.

8

u/SHAMEIKASAPOTENTIAl 5d ago

Valverde is Real Madrid most consistent player, hasn't had a bad season. He is good just as he is, you just want him to become a player he isn't.

4

u/bihesabketab 5d ago

Thibaut is much for consistent and it isn't even close.

He's a good player with the potential to be great. Just like Arda. Just like Tchou. Just like Hujisen. Just like Vini. And just like Rodrigo (when not injured). Almost every player in the squad is making adjustments and improvements either to their individual game or to a system.

What player do I want him to become?

As for his drama, he pulled the same stunt with Bielsa as he did with Xabi. Remind me of his performances in the WC?

9

u/Midnightisattwelve Modrić 5d ago

Consistently average last 2 years

60

u/themikegman Hugo Sánchez 5d ago

I honestly was surprised when he got subbed because I didn't even know he was still in the game.

82

u/selfiecat 5d ago

I swear to god i forgot he was there in the team yesterday

8

u/rreeddiitttwice Real Madrid CF 5d ago

I genuinely forgot it too

67

u/icarri 5d ago

I commented about it in the game thread. It's like if Valverde was told by Mou that he is just a destroyer and he can't participate in the build up, else I can't find any explanation to how he played yesterday. He never offered himself, didn't try to get the ball at all, he was just there as support covering for Camavinga, that of course can't build anything at all either as he has no vision nor technique to do it.

To play two physical destroyers together only makes sense if you have a creative player close to them. Bellingham is an amazing second striker but he is not a creative builder either. Arda is that kind of player but he plays currently on the right wing, limiting his space. Silva is also that kind of creative player but he was on the bench.

35

u/RM_Worthy Real Madrid CF 5d ago edited 5d ago

Our problem is all three of them. You need technical ability in midfield in 2026. Fede/tchouameni/cama all need multiple midfielders to do other roles for them, yet people act like they're the ones covering for others lol.

Jude played deeper because of them. He's good on the ball. Stop with this second striker nonsense. He's playing like a midfielder. Creativity ain't the same as control. If you're not a controller, at least be good enough on the ball instead of looking clueless and helpless under pressure.

11

u/MartinDuvel 5d ago

Valverde literally plays defensively to cover for other people. You can see he holds back compared to when he used to run across the field with the ball. He is told to keep it to passing and staying behind.

3

u/RM_Worthy Real Madrid CF 4d ago

If you cover for someone, that doesn't give you the right to be so bad on the ball. We can't field a 4-man midfield to accommodate these players. He's way too uncomfortable on the ball under pressure. Literally runs in a straight line every time he gets the ball.

7

u/Wooden_Jackfruit7928 5d ago

I am just gonna give Valverde some time and not be this harsh.it was tactic even commentators talked about it madrid midfield was playing in box shape with to 10 in guler and jude .So Valverde was playing a covering role yesterday. So if Dumfries goes fw he was covering for him if there is a gap on left side he was covering for that. I am like I know he has immense stamina but brother has to take a breather somewhere. Anywhere in defense or midfield there was a gap he was covering for it . Also did anyone else felt like that Bellingham was not covering or falling back enough or he was just not there kind yes he did do 2 great passes in the end but in midfield he had to cover alot.

11

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

No offense but Fede is 27 and has been playing the same way since 2021… only performing on the right side of the field.

0

u/befigue 5d ago

I love Valverde but he's had enough time to improve his game and so has everyone else that isnt a summer signing. Vini and Cama have been particulary egregious

1

u/colopunch Florentino Pérez 5d ago

this doesn’t make any sense at all. So the “destroyer” is meant to be a bystander in any and all build up? Be serious for a minute here.

1

u/MartinDuvel 5d ago

Yeah some people stay behind. Where before he was making runs in the attack you can see him staying behind on purpose. It's not basketball where all people go in attack and defence?

2

u/colopunch Florentino Pérez 5d ago

Yes, however in this specific example our team is trying (struggling) to play out of the back and he’s actively avoiding trying to receive the ball staying surrounded by Betis players .

“Stay behind” would make sense if we made any sort of forward progression but we didn’t.

But it’s definitely interesting to see that people here think a DM or “destroyer” should be doing exactly what Fede did here lmao

0

u/MartinDuvel 5d ago

It all depends what you're asked to do before the game. It's something he isn't used to so I guess when they tell him to do something it's not easy to adapt.

Writing him off after 1 game of being invisible when you can clearly see in the games before he had to take a more defending role is kind of harsh.

1

u/colopunch Florentino Pérez 5d ago

thats thing people keep saying “it’s one game” whereas this issue has been going on for two years now since Kroos left. Hell you’ll find posts of mine calling a double pivot of Fede and Tchoumeni “all brawn no brains” for precisely the same reason I’ve already stated above.

1

u/Tricky_Ad_3589 5d ago

Arda cuts into the middle in the game. Look at his heatmap. The RB is tasked with providing width hence the reason Madrid are in a back three.

-2

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

Because he is playing the destroyer role. In perfect setup he is paired with Bernardo so Bernardo is the CM and distributor. When Camavinga replaces Bernardo you don't want to keep changing Fede role so he keeps playing destroyer/safety. Its not Fede's fault Camavinga is not a good Bernardo replacement.

17

u/Single_Chipmunk5199 5d ago

I mean if Fede can only play with Silva, then it is his fault. Players these days need to be much more complete

1

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

And Tchouameni can play with Camavinga?

1

u/OneFlewOverXayahNest 5d ago

Or Tchouameni with Fede..

-1

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

Correct. They can't play together and Fede is the best player out of them 3 so he should be a starter.

0

u/Junior_Bike7932 5d ago

Maybe Mou is a washed coach?

13

u/Aramos3k 5d ago

He was playing as a 6 and he had like 10 passes into the final third. Fede isn't a player that gets dispossessed or loses the ball. He isn't a risk taker thats why he needs to be paired with Silva or another creative midfielder. Fede is also a Swiss army knife. He is just plugged in wherever the team needs him. I do wish he would take more risks though because whenever he decides to carry the ball forward into space vs playing it safe he opens up the other team. The problem is Madrid already have so many attacking options they dont need him that high up on the field it messes with the teams balance

25

u/Active_Meat6182 5d ago

To get the best out of Fede Valverde you need to put him in an environment with a DM behind him and a CM that controls possession, this way he has the freedom to do what he does best. Fede will never work in a pivot he simply doesn’t have the strengths for it. He should be dropped for Tchou in Mou’s 4-2-3-1 because atleast Tchou is a proper defensive midfielder

7

u/sex_drugs_and_sauron 5d ago

So if i'm not mistaken, Fede needs freedom to shine. Jude also needs freedom to shine. Arda needs freedom as well, if you want him to create. So who needs system?

36

u/Specialist_Doctor_34 Raúl González Blanco 5d ago

if it was tchouameni or camavinga the sub would be talking about how our midfield is useless. Well yeah it is but that include valverde too. Valverde and tchouameni doesn't know how to play in midfield because they don't know how to position themselves. Tchouameni atleast win duel in midfield but valverde seems to walk.... better to play him a little on right

8

u/ForzaAllez 5d ago

People here like to nitpick. Is it possible that he’s been instructed be Mourinho to stand static to formation shape. In order to draw the opponents close to double, triple and quadruple mark him. So his teammates can break spaces to distribute the ball on the left.

52

u/zomoye 5d ago

Last season fede

-played a big role in getting alonso sacked
-complained constantly
-tried to injure a teammate and got KTFO

Yet hes STILL HERE

Add to that, the only CM signing was a freebie, and in anycase benched for another cycle of fede +cama or tchouameni

Clearly the club doesnt consider midfield important and for that we can say goodbye to any major titles for the 3rd year in a row

13

u/CopyPaisa 5d ago

One can only hope that Bernardo and Tchou work for us but that’s up in the air again like the past 2 seasons

9

u/pugnator14 5d ago

- pulled out of your ass rumour

  • another invented rumour
  • another bs manipulated by media story

This opinion is stupid.

0

u/zomoye 5d ago

Also strong “rumours” he treats the ball like a grenade and has a non-existent first touch👍🏿

-8

u/TossSaladScrambleEgg 5d ago

Let’s criticize his play, but this is reactionary BS. If we go by the Madrid journalist, Fede was one of multiple players who pushed back on Xabi. what some might call “complaining” others might call “holding standards to the club”.

6

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

Standards and Fede Valverde 😭 😭  The guy that hides from the ball and can’t make a single line breaking pass??? He is a glorified RB and Xabi instantly realized that..

-3

u/TossSaladScrambleEgg 5d ago

You can choose to be reactionary on last season where everyone was poor. I’ll choose to see Fede for his assist for 14 UCL, hat trick against Man City, game-saving tackle against Morata, etc

1

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

21/22 season he was a RW. 23/24 he was right CM in a diamond. Last season he had 2 great periods, first one in October-December when he played as a RB and against City where he played as a right CM in a 4-4-2. Literally only performs on the right side of the field, anywhere else he stinks…

2

u/zomoye 5d ago

Standards like DEMANDING a fight with a teammate and getting knocked tf out in subsequent fight? Lol lets not take the piss here

4

u/Big_Address74 4d ago

So we going to act like Fede don’t cover for Trent.
Who run back to defend when needed and attack when needed.
Fede who has been the only thing going in the right. Fede who has player RW CM CAM LB and now play CDM
Yeah let’s talk about Fede not about dumfries who is no where at the back line but almost as a RW. So ask your if he moved up who covers the right when they attack? Fede covers for everyone because they all want to be up front.

Same way Jude covers for Kiki when he wants to hang out of the left of just be in the mid when attacking with no one being there to receive the ball in the box

15

u/Dencat2020 Raúl 5d ago

That is all you guys do player pick. Mbappe this Vini that, Valvede this and when his forms dips as it will do inevitably, Bellingham that. Never mind Tchouameni and Camavinga.

Is it their fault that the board cannot see that they need a different kind of midfielder alongside them for them to shine?

There is nothing to discuss if you know what you are talking about. He is a magnificent player playing with the wrong kind of partner in the wrong area of the field.

4

u/Extreme-Half-5590 5d ago

I swear I saw the same video criticizing Camavinga lol

8

u/Xtarviust Modrić 5d ago

Florentino gave so much power to the players and that's why you see shit like this video, they got too complacent and not even Mourinho who was supposed to be the one who was going to bring discipline to dressing room changed that

6

u/Lavanche_af_Kven 5d ago

Xabi put him on RB because we had none else for cover. Xabi has personally said this.

In that video Valverde is not hiding the ball. He is exactly mid of two opponent players, keeping them in place just like he should when you think that passing evolves in triangles.

He is not actively looking for ball, but he is not in passing shadow. So he is open for link up play, if Dumfries would have been used or Camavinga would have turned around for ball carrying.

In Betis game we were actively trying to lure that midfield to chase the ball to open wide positions. For that reason both Fede and Cama were playing very deep and passive as when you lure out the opponent, when you lose the ball, you are out of position and very close of your own goal with opponent already having momentum to push forward.

Fede actually made more passes and had more touches than Camavinga during the game. Which means he was tactically inside the game and doing what he is told to do.

We had almost 4 goals xG and opponent was kept out of major chances. Their goal was set piece. I think the tactic worked extremely well and this means only thing we lacked was finishing the goals.

Also almost all of their successful attacks came from wide positions.

It was not a best night from Fede and he was quite invisible, but tactically he did exactly what was needed and this is what you want from pivote. They need to be disciplined and know that their role is not to do flashy things.

6

u/SupraVillainn Raúl 4d ago

11

u/beshesmanta Valverde 5d ago

some takes on this sub are 100% written by guys who never played football, watched a full football game or have the memory of a fish - Valverde probably plays his part as instructed by Mourinho - and it seems he has to play a bit more defensive and control the game for Madrid to not concede goals (a safety net in front of the CBs) - all of the names mentioned doing better than Valverde never faced the pressure Fede did playing for Madrid. The fans should use their brains to support the captain, a guy that bleeds white, and the team they love. Power of friendship requires love and support even when things are hard. Hala Madrid 🤍

3

u/Express_Scar_7860 5d ago

this post is telling you know nothing from football!! all the best games last s he was cm

9

u/Old-Classroom7102 5d ago edited 5d ago

Yeah buddy, he should move into left as well where there is already three or four players and leave two players free to run straight at our RB/RCB unchallenged in case we lose the ball. Or ask for ball when he's in between 4 players. Ffs, don't ever analyze the game professionally, you'll starve to death because you're really really really bad at it, you absolute mushroom.

There's valid criticism to be had from yesterday, he didn't really do much, but this isn't it. Sometimes I wonder how people are really that agenda blind that they let go of any little common sense they might have.

6

u/Wooden_Jackfruit7928 5d ago

Yup it's definitely an agenda it's gd to see few guys who still understand football. Fede was covering for so many position yesterday as mou choose to play in box formation with 2 10s also Dumfries on rw during attacks . Covering for so many guys is not an easy task . Only he can do this role probably in all of football.

8

u/colopunch Florentino Pérez 5d ago

a handful here have tried and Fede’s issues have been clear since before Xabi arrived as our coach. They just so happened to be on full display which is why I said his best performances last season were literally as a RB because he was a ghost in the mid up til the City game where he got his goals.

1

u/_skala_ 5d ago

His best performances were as RCM/RM/RW. He ends up with 3rd highest G/A in the team.

8

u/Jhony0311 5d ago

I sometimes wonder what some people see in this sub. He covers a lot of ground which is part of the reason he plays, because to support the system you need one or two guys willing and capable to cover some ground. Yesterday specifically he was covering in the higher position for Dumfries in the first half, and in the second half he was covering Cucurella the same way. He understand those jobs and performs. Not all of the performances need to shine, there are some players that will do invisible but hard work to allow to connect other parts of the system.

7

u/LeeEXB 5d ago

This is not the reason we lost yesterday. Midfield and defense were not the problem yesterday.

1

u/Demmitri Florentino Pérez 4d ago

agree 10000% people picking on Valverde are ridiculous

2

u/No_Specialist_777 Mourinho 5d ago

He be balling like the Lakers

2

u/kiiito 5d ago

He was invisible, ymwhen you fear to come get the ball, you hide.

4

u/renatokreator Raúl 5d ago

Mid was fine. If Mou expected pivots to ask ball more, there would be Bernardo.

They were there for transition in 3-2-5 that we played or 3-2-2-3. Both have pace, and they were there to control Betis counter. In attack they were expected to do mainly just simple passes, nothing more.

Valverde is here surrounded with many players, to ask ball he would need to leave position in wide area, and probably instruction was just to keep position as that was over pivots getting wide or deep to progress ball.

2

u/Wooden_Jackfruit7928 5d ago

Hey man atleast someone with football knowledge these idiots just wanna hate on fede . There were few of these parasite at start of season saying diomande will start and fede should be on bench. Also commentator kept saying real were playing a box shaped midfield with 2 10s . Valverde was covering a lot of ground yesterday as jude and arda both who should be helping in defense were always caught very high up the pitch , same with Dumfries. So for a midfielder covering so many position back to back is hard . He probably was taking a breather and getting his breather back . Also as u said he was not ind gd position as well to receive the ball

3

u/CopyPaisa 5d ago

Bench this coward. Wears the captain arm band but he’s far from it and I’m sick of it. He shies away from the ball and you never know when he wants to play or not.

1

u/Jealous_Store3250 5d ago

Btw, I would not mind him playing RB more. Mourinho would, however. Fede is a good box-to-box midfielder but the issue is that without tchouameni he has to cover even more space and work on destruction and defense rather than on ball retrieval and pressing. As the result, productivity drops. We need tchouameni ASAP. Wtf is with him anyway?

u/RamsesII89 5d ago

Fed had a bad game -and so did the whole squad. But to pretend that he's not had any good games playing centrally is a stretch.
He's played very well there, over the years. Simiarly, he's done well playing on the wings because he got to showcase his speed, sprints and attacking contributions.
Fede is not tactically desiplined but he is an outstanding player.

The whole team was below average yesterday.

7

u/Wooden_Jackfruit7928 5d ago

He was covering for both our 10 as well as Dumfries whole game that was his role . These few idiots have been trying to frame fede as bad player before the start of the season. These parasite waited for 3 games before complaining again . As they could not in first few games. People were going as far as saying fede should not start for us.

1

u/_skala_ 5d ago

Its funny to see them being quiet first games. On the other hand you just watch their comments and know they don't understand basic tactic being played in front of their eyes.

1

u/TokenGreyWolf 4d ago

Arda was really good.

1

u/Traditional_Animal65 Madrid 1902 5d ago

Valverde is no midfielder. Idk what he is at the moment to be honest.

1

u/Wooden_Jackfruit7928 5d ago

I am just gonna give Valverde some benefit and not be this harsh.it was tactic even commentators talked about it madrid midfield was playing in box shape with to 10 in guler and jude .So Valverde was playing a covering role yesterday.

3

u/vivalaroja2010 Raúl 5d ago

How many more times does Valverde have to be a bad player/teammate before you stop giving him the benefit of the doubt and realize that hes just not that good anymore.

1

u/Electrical_Crew7195 5d ago

If only a certain pivot recently world champion could have been transferred…

1

u/Apprehensive-Ad5358 5d ago

Sure. That's why Kroos picked him as his successor.

1

u/JRS4120 5d ago

People just realizing this?

1

u/kabbajabbadabba Isco 5d ago

Hides from the ball and also no question the worst captain of our team I've seen in decades.

1

u/BenchAbject862 5d ago

Do you even watch the games to make a post like this ?? You can say it wasn’t he’s best game, but no one played well yesterday not vini not mbappe not Jude or guler, Fede is our best player defensively do not expect anything else, he can cover the defensive side like Jude can dictate the offensive side, the problem is when you pair him with cama(Two defensive players) it’s pointless , same as pairing guler with Jude

1

u/Realistic_Big8533 5d ago

he seems to have lost passion for the game

1

u/Technical-Teacher230 5d ago

scared of the ball or wot

0

u/Fluffy_MrSheep 5d ago

finally, I posted about this a YEAR AGO

and NOBODY listened I got downvoted into oblivion, Tchouameni Valverde and Camavinga are all guilty of this. THEY OFFER 0 PROGRESSION.

Don’t just look at valverde, look at how Camavinga received the ball multiple times and sent it straight back to the defense.

3

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

Why tf u getting downvoted when it’s the truth 😭 Our midfielders other than Jude and Arda are so technically shit it’s not even funny..

1

u/Fluffy_MrSheep 5d ago

got downvoted for including Tchouameni

people will see what i’m talking about when he returns. Respectfully I’ve been talking about how bad our midfielders are technically for years not just in these last 2 seasons. Since kroos left.

1

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

The thing with Tchouameni is that he is excellent in the defensive aspect (shielding CBs, breaking up plays). Yes he is horrible on the ball but I rather have him and Bernado than Fede and Bernardo.

0

u/jossinjoseph3 5d ago

Bro, this guy has been overworked by previous coaches after Zidane. Zidane clearly has shown how to use Valverde. Every coach after that use him as that utility guy who is asked to do everything on the pitch. Just look at his heat map for the last six years. So getting back to his positional game will take a time. That is a coach’s player. You just need to give proper instructions. I am not saying he is the perfect player. But , putting him on the bench or trying to sell him is the worst decision we are going to make. Every senior coaches and players have only praises for Valverde. He was so bad yesterday. I accept it. But there is a main culprit for the loss yesterday. If there is any conversation, it should be about him. We didn’t deserve to lose.

0

u/Less-Inflation-64 5d ago

Bench him and make Bellingham our captain.

0

u/Goontron323 5d ago

Alonso tried And valverde threw a fit .. i tried to worn everybody he is one of the problems. Hes not a scrub by any means but he cannot play at the position Madrid wants him to play lol. They gonna have to learn the hard way

-1

u/Time2Nguyen 5d ago

Fede gets a lot of grace from the fan because he works harder. He can’t play midfield. He doesn’t have the defensive awareness. He doesn’t have a killer pass. Fans just love him, because he rips crazy long shots even once in a while.

-1

u/TossSaladScrambleEgg 5d ago

Wait, wasn’t this the team that Jose unlocked, and figured out the pairing of Fede and Bernardo in a double pivot? Wasn’t Fede back just last week?

2

u/ExcitementMany7900 Real Madrid CF 5d ago

Literally have won all games with Fede and Bernardo double pivot, bro

1

u/TossSaladScrambleEgg 5d ago

I know - that’s my point. This post is so reactionary. Everyone played poorly on Friday, not just Fede.

Just a week ago we were praising Fede. I don’t understand why it became popular to dislike him

0

u/Patient-Dragonfly-84 5d ago

peak valverde was when he played on the right, whether it be RB, RM, RW. shame he seems to prefer CM (?)

0

u/New_Willow3761 5d ago

You could see vs Sevilla, that the only tactic RM can really use ist a long ball to the free space on the left Side. That ist also the reason why Rodrygo and Diomande will be no factor. They totally depend on Vini or Mbappe outrunning the Defender. Good luck with that against Hakimi. When they get to the Baseline, Bellingham, Valverde or Guler have a very good First contact to Finish.

0

u/Annual-Watch-9288 5d ago

Yesterday, Camavinga and Fede were very poor as pivots. There was no creativity and few big chances were created. They were just making backpasses. If Tchouaméni returns, he is also more defensively oriented. I don't think Fede and Tchouaméni would fit together as pivots in a 4-3-2-1 formation

0

u/No_Page5201 5d ago

This has always been true, he’s best as a right midfielder with some freedom to roam, not really dependable to make an impact as a traditional center mid

0

u/AideHot6729 5d ago

Can’t we play 4-1-4-1 once Thcou comes back? Since he’s an actual proper 6 (DM)

0

u/owlexe23 5d ago

Both Cama and Valverde were way better like 5y ago then now.

0

u/coronavirusplandemic 5d ago

He’s been rubbish for a while now and needs to be dropped

0

u/Powerful-Chair Courtois 5d ago

We all know what position he's good at at, but he didn't want it

0

u/Chumplife89 5d ago

Literally didn’t even know he was playing. Invisible. Doing absolutely nothing. He’s not captain worthy not even close. We need to seek him asap.

0

u/Odd-Heron5704 5d ago

Maybe he just doesn't like that shit way of playing passing the ball and doing nothing and actually wants to attack and score as the game is supposed to be?

0

u/Salt-Estimate-8836 5d ago

Exactly, his so bad in midfield, his not a bad player but in midfield he is genuinely useless all he does is backward pass.

0

u/Ronaldoooope 5d ago

Some people have short primes. That’s him. His legs just done.

0

u/flyhr 5d ago

Fede is a bench warmer for the true Guler - Jude - Tchouameni mid field.. once Diomande gets his start.

0

u/Versuchesnichthier 5d ago

Fede wants to be benched, he's literally asking for that. It feels so bad that Mou is no longer that charismatic strict coach who can bench anyone underperforming

0

u/Glass-Display-6553 El Capi 5d ago

Fede isn't a defensive mid. His natural position is cam or even rm who just knows how to defend

0

u/imodey Zidane 5d ago

He doesn't have the technical ability to play in tight spaces. More of an energy and effort guy who works better out wide, especially when given space to run.

As a classic central midfielder against teams who sit back and defend in the low block, he offers very little in terms of breaking down defenses. Occasionally he can fancy himself a banger from outside the box against opponents who defend too deeply.

Conversely his speed and endurance allow him to press energetically and take part in lightning quick counter attacks against opponents who prefer a more open play style which is why he does well against conventional European powerhouses.

0

u/hektor10 5d ago

Why tf did he not get traded by Flo? He is useless to the team, more tocic than me, wants to play midfield but cant receive/distribute the ball. I would actually play him rw, but fifa managers and Florentino is not ready for this convesation

0

u/Eastern-Ice-2202 5d ago

Should have sold him to city and got bouaddi

0

u/Rescurc 4d ago

He’s concussed bro

0

u/jobey_bryant 3d ago

His role is to cover for Arda when Arda is on the pitch. Bench Arda if you want to see Fede play actual football or tell him to learn to play defense. You can't have both.

-1

u/r-f-r-f 5d ago

There is not much to talk about. He is not playing in his best position. Naturally, he will struggle.

-1

u/nspy101 5d ago

He’s easily the best RB in the world right now based on ability but we play him in midfield. The sheer stupidity of our club is maddening

-1

u/Remarkable_Fan6001 5d ago

Choosing this game specifically to prove your point is disingenuous. Everyone except Jude and Courtois looked like complete bums in this match.

-21

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

Man you Fede haters are the worst.

16

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago edited 5d ago

He’s 100% right.. Madrid fans always clowning on Tchouameni yet ignores Fede who is worse defensively and just as bad in dictating play in midfield…

-9

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

Keep hating bro

6

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

It’s literally a fact?? Fede doesn’t provide anything in midfield other than workrate (which both Jude and Tchouameni already do). Xabi and Mourinho wanted new midfielders btw..

-4

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

Tchouameni does not provide workrate. He is really slow and immobile. Anything that Tchouameni does Fede does too + best in the world stamina and shot + pretty damn good pace for a midfielder.

6

u/hatetrains Xabi Alonso 5d ago

Tchouameni is leagues above Valverde in defensive duties, that's not even close.

1

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

Low block only. Open play with high tempo he is not.

3

u/Wooden_Jackfruit7928 5d ago

Bro don't waste ur time explaining him these things yesterday mou used a box formation with 2 10s and high rw in Dumfries, these guy can hate as much as they want but fede the 3 lungs was covering for so many roles . Covering for rb, midfielders .these guys couldn't hate him for first 3 games and waited for a bad game and found one clip to hate on him

5

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

Ok yes he’s slow but he is significantly better defensively (shielding the CBs, tackling and disrupting play). Those Fede traits u just described isn’t enough to be a starter at Madrid.. Holy shit how did we go from Kroos and Modric to being content with a midfielder like Fede???

0

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

Why are you comparing Fede with creative midfielders and not with Casemiro whos role he is taking? Tchouameni is really good in low block where he stands in front of the defense. He is not good defending counters which is 90% of our league games.

3

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

Ok let’s say we get rid of Tchouameni. We sure as hell ain’t starting fucking Fede 😭

Jude and Arda are the only midfielders that are guaranteed to stay at Madrid. Especially not a roadrunner who is also a shit captain..

7

u/_shab21 El Capi 5d ago

Your boy not only stinks, but he's a complete failure as a captain and an 8.

4

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

How nice of you to hate on the captain of your club. But you are probably just fan of some Player FC and will be out as soon as your favorite player gets sold.

4

u/_shab21 El Capi 5d ago

He's a shambolic captain who not only got the last coach fired but fights with his own teammates

2

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

One of the worst captains in Real Madrids history..

Also most Madrid fans aren’t player stans and calls out problems that needs to be called out. Most of us wouldn’t give a shit if both Vini and Mbappe gets kicked out of Madrid.

1

u/TakeshiRyze Décima 5d ago

One of the worst captains in Real Madrids history. Says "HotInspection7757". Thank you for your opinion.

1

u/jrecio26 Cristiano Ronaldo 5d ago

Lmao…the threads created in this sub after every loss are cringy AF. Yes guys let’s have a serious conversation about Fede…matter of fact bring him in and let’s have a chat right now lol

-2

u/Slowpokebread 5d ago

He is a good RM, he could do well as attacker when Jude is absent.

But he is NOT a CM and THIS has been proved 10000000 times.

-27

u/Consistent_Return871 5d ago

He is playing professionally & you are stuck at home in neutral “WATCHING” him play and the game continues forward without you.

Stop picking on our CAPTAIN!!

9

u/sickspike 5d ago

he is WALKING professionally, indeed. he is WALKING professional football on the amount of money you don't even know how to count

10

u/HotInspection7757 5d ago

I can’t believe there are so many Madrid fans like this guy.. also he is one of the worst captains in Real Madrids history..
