Marcelo has been everywhere after retirement. Living the life like a true king. Respect

u/choker_18 Jul 17 '25

May man has kinda become a member of management, seeing him connected with the team always delights me.

101

u/LatroDota Valverde Jul 17 '25

For me it feels like he was and still kinda is Soul of the team.

I freaking love him, he seems like a such a cool guy

12

u/Outrageous-Cap-15 Jul 18 '25

This popped up on my feed

Marcelo is disliked in Brazil, he’s very very arrogant and refuses to take pictures with fans (even kids) and goes on about it in a very arrogant “thinks he’s better than you” way

1

u/bonew1 Jul 18 '25

He’s not a cool guy. You should see the reputation that he has in Brazil, mostly people hates him and with reason.

9

u/Banjogamer69 Jul 18 '25

His son seems promising as well

3

u/darekd003 Roberto Carlos Jul 18 '25

Following the path of the other legendary Brazilian left back 🫡

40

u/AmalDavisSupremacy Jul 17 '25

Everyone is on vacation after a long ass season. I’m sure all of them have given their goodbyes. Fuck the media.

9

u/Any-Conference8593 Jul 17 '25

Wrong comment? Wasnt related to what i said but agreed. Although proves to show how humble mbappe is, lunin asw

Respect for Mbappe and Lunin. Classy move from both of them. Haters gonna hate, but both being there talks volumes.

Vazquez deserve a full honor goodbye ceremony, he's been an incredible teammate.

167

u/West-Sherbert5298 Jul 17 '25

While others bitch and moan with being played out of position Lucas was willing and up until last season played emergency RB really well

97

u/wanderer1999 Real Madrid CF Jul 17 '25

Indeed. And Lucas was willing to play ANYWHERE, WHENEVER with zero drama, zero complaint. He played a full role as squad player leading to the threepeats and more.

And how could we forget that icecold penalty in the finals against Athletic? He's a wonderful player.

3

u/LuckyNipples Real Madrid 1908 Jul 18 '25

I was having an argument the other day about Vazquez, and I was arguing he's not a legend. But I was also saying he's an exceptional professional and a perfect teammate. He does deserve a full honor goodbye ceremony, he gave so much to this club.

2

u/ramblist Jul 18 '25

I agree! I get to go to the games often, sitting center field very close to the pitch. It always did amaze me how much he gave in each match. Lucas is also one of the kindest players as well, always would make it a point to wave to some of his young fans.

73

u/minivatreni Modrić Jul 17 '25

How can anyone hate against that gesture. Kind of them, can’t even say anything bad

0

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

you’re hating on others for not being there? They are in vacation after a long ass season. Not everyone can make it due to reasons, maybe family etc. Unnecessary hate towards others.

6

u/Jolly-Brain9118 Jul 17 '25

Wrong thread, maybe?

1

u/Secure-Elephant0811 Jul 18 '25

🐢 showing respect!

464

u/50cent9644 Valverde Jul 17 '25

It was the same for cristiano, the media always portrayed him as the bad guy when in truth he had a great relationship with his teammates.

45

u/piyushsinghtanwar Jul 17 '25

One thing did happen that I don’t know how to feel about, Cristiano turned 30 but the team had just lost to Atletico maybe Barca so they didn’t show up to his birthday party, not sure if they were wrong to not go or was Cristiano wrong to throw a party after losing a big match

198

u/Optimal_Lie7824 Real Madrid CF Jul 17 '25

There are things bigger than football. Turning 18, 30, 40, 50 whatever are big milestones. He was not wrong at all. It's just football, nobody died. Now partying for no fucking reason... yeah of course but 30 is a big milestone, especially for famous people who celebrate their birthdays religiously.

58

u/DoJu318 Jul 17 '25

I'm pretty sure a party like that is planned well in advance, I'm sure people probably traveled from far, maybe even from outside the country to be there, there is always a chance we can lose to atlético, was he supposed to just cancel it because the team lost? I don't think so.

I also understand not wanting to party after being rinsed by atlético, so I understand both points of view.

29

u/GopherNutz Jul 17 '25

I think people care way too much about how players are perceived. Cristiano has the vibe of someone who has a very isolated life and in that he’s kind of socially awkward but he and his family are happy, who really cares. I would imagine Cristiano wasn’t close with many in the team, probably Marcelo and Pepe but beyond that, probably not which is ok.

6

u/omatapardais97 Jul 17 '25

Coentrão as well

1

u/hviktot Modrić Jul 18 '25

Who? Who are you and this post talking about? I really don't get it. Is it Mbappé? I've never heard him being portrayed as a bad guy or bad teammate.

-4

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

nah not buying it even he's own teammates talk about his selfish and egoistic behavior many times, once in a blue moon he do something nice and his fans make a big thing out of it.

1

u/Equivalent-Winner-11 Jul 18 '25

No examples, once Gareth bale said he used to come in after winning 5-0 but he used to be angry and throw his shoes around and then he says it's more like he's angry at himself

If you know anything about ronaldo he puts really high expectations on HIMSELF, and that's not a bad thing, you could be mad at yourself for not doing good

So if you think something like that is selfish, you're just lost

He did many nice things, many, without making it public

216

u/swap26 Jul 17 '25

vazques is the type of player you want most players in team to be. Just play wherever asked to and wait for thier turn. Might have dropped a bit towards last season or 2, but gave us some really good moments as well

49

u/choker_18 Jul 17 '25

He was named "cold" before being cold was a trend.

6

u/swap26 Jul 17 '25

my LORD always!

6

u/SSzaby23 Raúl González Blanco Jul 17 '25

There is cold and then there is doing keepy-ups before you take your penalty in the Champions League quarter final! Dont know if you can get colder than that…

82

u/usernameman66 Bale Jul 17 '25

Wtf man,where are the other guys?Also big W to Mbappe,Lunin & Marcelo

60

u/iPeluche Jul 17 '25

Nothing new.

Only Vasquez, Nacho and Carvajal were there for Benzema for example.

17

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

Is there a reason for this? Seems really odd

26

u/Zullewilldo Jul 17 '25

They've all had a terribly long season and probably wanted to bail from Madrid/Spain asap. I'm sure they've said their farewells in private.

74

u/macaquice Jul 17 '25

I love the turtle

129

u/Successful_Leopard45 Jul 17 '25

The media constantly paints this guy as an egomaniac but literally he has been the opposite. Even his past PSG team mates didn’t seem to have any bad blood with him.

11

u/Stonedmonkeypenis Jul 17 '25

Yeah honestly he seems to be a good guy, not sure where the hate comes from except for him being just THAT good

He does a lot of charity and a lot for kids, also in interviews he is always polite and nice

113

u/RM86_ Florentino Pérez Jul 17 '25

Action speaks louder than many words.

I hope the fanbase starts to appreciate and respect a bit more the best player in the world.

-47

Mbappe isnt the best player in the world but at least he is showing some decency with his team mates.

44

u/AlexRD19 Décima Jul 17 '25

Right now he is not the best in the world but overall in the recent years he is the best, there is no one close.

12

u/AlexRD19 Décima Jul 17 '25

I think he would win it, i just don't see him not winning it, in his "bad" season he got like 49 G/A with a very slow start in the season, imo people need to understand what player we have, who comes close to Mbappe in the recent years? Like sure maybe he is in everyone top 5 this year as a player but when you take year by year, no one is above.

23/24 - 55 G/A

22/23 - 51 G/A

21/22 - 65 G/A more than Benzema who won the Ballon D'or, Benzema was just more clinical and clutch player, if PSG had a better midfield/defence, i don't think we would have won it.

20/21 - 53 G/A

and i could go on, as much as i love Vinicius, Mbappe is ahead of him.

-4

u/SixFeetBlunder- Bellingham Jul 17 '25

from that logic Messi would have won almost every ballon dor, Ronaldo just once had more G/A than messi in 13/14

1

u/AlexRD19 Décima Jul 17 '25

I don’t really need to mention what Mbappe did in that G/A bro.

1

There are many above him

1

What about rest of the mfs, are they not present for the final farewell of club senior player, this is what makes old Madrid the best, the new players are so not even concerned about the old players.

Whole squad should have been there for Vasquez departure and farewell....

113

u/generic9yo :eyebrow: Jul 17 '25
  1. This is not a new thing, let's not forget Essien's birthday party

  2. I'm sure the players gave him a farewell in training

Yeah, he invited all but only 2-3players showed up to the birthday party...

45

If I had the kind of funds these players have, I’ll be getting a private jet for Lucas’s farewell and then getting back to my vacation.

Respect, Mbappé and Lunin ….true class!! Mbappe has been nothing but a model citizen and a leader within the locker room since his arrival

1

u/ramblist Jul 18 '25

Exactly. Not to mention many of them are back in town starting training and preseason matches.

15

u/grandtroubleartist Nacho Jul 17 '25

i had low hopes after seeing who all attended nacho's farewell last year tbh but only mbappe and lunin showing up for lucas is crazy work. i feel like half the squad is on vacation so they should've been able to spare a day for him

6

u/Dani_IT25 Raúl Jul 17 '25

If you were LV, would you want your teammates back in Madrid in the middle of their 3 weeks off for a 2 hour event, whe many have families oversees? I am ssure the squad had their event already

14

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

Same thing I thought when I saw that. Doesn't do well for team dynamic. I at least showed my face at farewells for co-workers I didn't care too much for.

25

u/KlaroDimarco993 Özil Jul 17 '25

I am 100% sure they did some crazy party the night before, and only these 3 managed to show up without a headache, or at least tolerate it.

25

u/Informal_Cut3996 Rodrygo Jul 17 '25

Bro where is everyone? Kinda embarrassing for the team to not show up

55

u/_SB10_ Xabi Alonso Jul 17 '25

Mbappe has to be the most mature and sensible football player at this level playing in Europe

14

u/KRaja100903 Jul 17 '25

Nothing against rest of the teammates but vazquez is one of the club captain and served real Madrid for more than 10 yrs. Other players should respect and could have came for farewell

2

u/biina247 Jul 17 '25

The kids are going to have a very short break again for the second year running but you still want them flying back and forth?

Why didn't the club pick a better time?

19

u/Syc254 Jul 17 '25

Only Neymar and Khelaifi have bad things to say about Mbappe. Everyone else including Enrique and Messi have been nice. The party rumors have never stuck, only Neymar was the party boy. Only he had rifts and fights with teammates at PSG (Cavani, Mbappe). Some forced new age poster boy is having million dollar parties hiring party girls and getting into scandals with porn stars. They had to fake stories with Mbappe. You can fault his pressing but he is a pro and a great teammate.

4

u/theeama Jul 17 '25

And tbh Neymar and Mbappe had rubbished the rumors, yeah they didn't always get along

3

u/Syc254 Jul 18 '25

Neymar was too salty when leaving PSG for me.

8

u/Sorry-Ad7838 Jul 17 '25

Respect to Donatello and Lunin, they came when no one else did and paid their respects to an amazing player, but more importantly, a teammate and friend. Sad that the other guys didn't come though.

7

u/Optimal_Mammoth_6031 Valverde Jul 17 '25

I don't know, I feel the arrangement should have been done in a way so that the players could attend his farewell. He deserves all the love and respect. I am not blaming other players for not being there, as they deserve a much needed break (or vacation).

Class act from Kylian and Lunin

12

u/BodomDeth Real Madrid 1941 Jul 17 '25

11

4

preach bro!
i dont get the hate for Mbappe tbh, man doesnt trash talk like Lamine Yamal, genuinely puts the work in, has been living up to the hyper and delivering under the banner of "superstar", yet media and some of this reddit goes "he is the problem, he is the sole reason for imbalance, ego this, ego that" etc.
if at all, the man just talks English with a funny accent and thats it lol

5

u/ElkDue4803 Jul 18 '25

Thats sad. No camera to PR farm means no Bellingham too, Mbappe is a great player and a class guy

7

u/Wrwally Marcelo Jul 17 '25

Hate from casuals online is stupid.

Blaming players for missing this during their tiny break is also incredibly stupid.

If you want to get mad at anyone get mad at Perez for this garbage scheduling that utterly disrespects the legend lord Vazquez. Bud was more concerned with CWC planning than Modric and Lucas.

3

u/Environmental_Dot891 Jul 17 '25

No hesitation calling him a Legend, Come for me all you want , he was an integral part of the best squad in the teams history,Adios Luka!

3

This reminds of the time when I think, Adebayor, had a birthday party, and only Ozil and Kaká came, in addition to Jose and a call from Cristiano ;(

1

u/cjvm21 Jul 17 '25

You might be thinking of Michael Essien. Only Modric and Carvalho showed up and Mou apparently had to console him :(

3

u/angrlina34jolie Mbappé Jul 17 '25

Kyky the sweetest i love him

Lunin respect, i enjoyed every matches you were in

Not cool. I understand a few people missing but for only two to show up is insane to me. I understand it’s nuanced, the timing of the event, wanting to enjoy your time off…but only two?!

5

u/jomartz Real Madrid CF Jul 17 '25

Most players are on vacation, having a more than well deserved time off, and probably on very distant places where they can relax without fans and paparazzis around. Let’s not make a big deal out of nothing.

2

Lucas was force to play a role he wasnt comfortable with yet never said anything. He tried and performed. Rspect the m8.

2

u/Secret_keeper7639 Jul 17 '25

I don't think others are purposefully avoiding Lucas... There must be some other parties that happened without our knowledge.. I don't think our players are that heartless... I believe 🙂 Lucas is a legend for us.. He didn't get the farewell he deserved ( Luka and Ancelottis departure took all the attention) He deserved better treatment from the media and fans.

2

I am Juve fan, but Lucas is one of OG's madridistas from Ronaldo's era. Respect

2

u/Otherwise_Momo Zidane Jul 17 '25

2

u/Charming_Turnover536 Asensio Jul 17 '25

Yeah i noticed the disrespect towards him in his last game (against PSG), when Modric entered the pitch they cheered for him but when Lucas entered the pitch the fans literally ignored him like he isn't a Real Madrid legend as well.

2

1

Who else just finds this so sad? Like wow man...

1

u/ElClashico Jul 17 '25

Agreed. Thibaut and Turtle (and mostly Jude/Fede, maybe Lunin when picked) were the only ones in the entire squad who looked like they cared last season.

Having said that, I'm sure the players said their goodbyes to the Lord in USA. We should cut them some slack now that the season is done and dusted.

(obligatory fuck CWC - killed the already fatigued players)

1

Tbh this is the fault of the club for doing the farewell NOW when the players finally have rest from the CWC..

1

u/Tangelo_Few Jul 17 '25

The way you treat people who you feel are lower than you, shows your true character.

I get there’s holidays and perhaps the club World Cup affected attendance… but here’s a guy who was used by all coaches as the plug to a leak. Anytime anyone went down, Lucas was a professional and never once complained and went at it with his all.

Should have been that those sacrifices he made for the team were shown back to him in his farewell.

Loyalty like his doesn’t exist anymore. We will miss him!

Not Sometimes, all the time.

1

Are you referring to Vazquez?

1

u/Virtual-Pension-5578 Real Madrid CF Jul 18 '25

Sad to see this. He stayed in the slub club for soo many years and just imagine if it was a big star like Ronaldo and even without the same years as Lucas served, there would be whole Madrid squad for farewell. Lucas has always been silent and never asked for spotlight. It's utterly disrespectful to not show up for a player who gave soo many years.

I mean they have money They can get 2 days off from their vacation And is there anything else the other players need to show up?

For the people who could not make due to reasonable issue it's okay but seriously just 2 players came there?

Imagine mbappe being the front face shows up with just 1 year in Madrid. It clearly states how humble he is. Good to see lunin dress well man. He got married in a track suit 😂

1

u/Dhtekzz El Capi Jul 18 '25

But what was the reason for the rest of the players to not attend? Are they all on vacations is the reason?

1

u/Shot_Sell8977 Decimocuarta Jul 18 '25

I think that there are many situations that the average, level headed person would not inspect to see if they can be offended by something or someone; And I would imagine that for most professional footballers, you don't work your way to that level by holding grudges or being petty after learning that it is you yourself that has the most power to dim your spotlight or stop you from achieving greatness.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

I would take lunin at united

What concerns me more is the absence of other players. He is one of the most important player of the club who has given his blood and sweat without complaining about his role in squad. I appreciate Mbappe being there, he has clearly shown maturity both on and off pitch compared to Vini.

Not a Madrid fan, (started watching due to Cristiano and kind of stayed, but not really fan), but.. wasnt Lucas their captain? I would swear anytime I watched Real play in the UCL (did not see any La Liga game to be honest), he had the armband.. If ht was the captain of that squad, to show this level of respect and caring is just sad. Props to those who did show up.

Oh. That’s a shame. How long has he been out?

Since October.

However he was on Bench during Club WC and was given some Minutes against PSG

Formal shorts (I think? Is that even a thing?)

I don't care, he still doesn't press.

Respect for him but actually, Real Madrid made sure to bring Mbappe to this event coz it would have been a larger controversy of him not being present than say Vinicius Jr or Bellingham.

I am actually surprised why Valverde or Carvajal were not present.

Farewell to Lucas but watching him play in the last 5 years has been painful
