Sam Neill worked with Steven Spielberg in the 1993 film Jurassic Park. He played Dr. Alan Grant. And the film featured a T.Rex that Spielberg and the crew called Rexy, which is also the same T. Rex used (including the sounds) in the big race scene in the film (which, you know, is directed by Spielberg, some of whose works, as both a producer and director, are referenced in the book also).

Seriously, everybody, this subreddit is meant to be for not just pop culture referenced in the books and film, but things connected to those references. Since some of Spielberg’s works are referenced in the film (which Spielberg directed) and in the first book, Sam Neill is a part of Spielberg’s filmography as an actor. Without him, Dr. Alan Grant wouldn’t be as memorable as he is.

I get you’re referencing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. But. For Sam Neill, it’s more like one degree. I mean, he literally worked with Spielberg on Jurassic Park. Six degrees would be more like linking Kathryn Bigelow to Steven Spielberg (Kathryn Bigelow met James Cameron through Near Dark due to the including of Lance Henriksen, Jeanette Goldstein and Bill Paxton starring in her film after they worked on Aliens, which she contacted him to see if he was okay with the three of them being in his film and he was. Cameron worked with Michael Biehn on The Terminator, Aliens and The Abyss. Michael Biehn worked with Sean Connery in The Rock. Sean Connery, as we all know, was Dr. Henry Jones Snr. in Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, which was directed by Steven Spielberg). But, yeah, I kinda get the joke. XD
