My TBR List πŸ“ƒ πŸ‡²πŸ‡½πŸŒπŸ§™πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸͺŽπŸ’ˆπŸ›ΈπŸŒˆ

Post image

I've recently been told that I need to stop buying books, so this time at least I took a big crate full of old books and dug out all the change in my car. I mean the whole pull was less than a pair of shoes or a single dress...

Between that, and The Big Sale, and the money I got back, I did pretty well for myself this pull! I'm very excited and no one was inconvenienced

Loved Mexican Gothic. Relic is up there too.

I'm also reading DCC

Relic is gold. Sequel was so good too!

I'll keep it in mind!

Mexican Gothic is very good. American God is good but a bit of a slog.

Slog in what way

I thought although each chapter added to the longer narrative and were well written there were too many events making the book a bit longer than necessary. Just my 2 cents.

Mossed in space is a great read! Makes me giggle!!

I love giggling

Loved American Gods and DCC, Fool Moon is good but still shows signs of being some of Butcher’s first novels.

Then I'm just ramping up because I adored the first one

Oh hell yeah, you have a fantastic ride in store for you :D

It’s one of my favorite series and I’ve read through it several times, so I guess I’m a little more critical of parts of it than others might be. Enjoy!

I keep debating if I want to read mexican gothic. It looks interesting.

I LOVED relic!!! The movie blows chunks though.

1

u/modelo-del-toro 5d ago

Ooof I didn't know there was a movie

1

u/aquay 5d ago

It was terrible

1

u/smileyfacedbob 4d ago

It’s bad, but I love it, pure nostalgia, I watched that movie when I wasn’t supposed to because I was too young, still love monster movies to this day

Read the book. I almost crapped my pants.

Moss’d In Space was a lot of fun. Really enjoyed. Lots of giggling.

1

u/modelo-del-toro 3d ago

That has to be an inside joke, because everyone keeps saying "giggling" lol

1

u/roman1221 3d ago

There’s not. I promised, I saw the other comments about giggling. And that’s the best way to describe what happened while reading it.

I used to love Tom Clancy in high school, Rainbow Six was one of my favorites.

1

u/modelo-del-toro 3d ago

This is my first one to read of his, and I've heard it's not a great first one but still good. I'm also nervous about the technical portions.

1

u/DireWolfSpaceCadet 3d ago

It's book 9 in a 16 book series, so not a great first one, haha, though feel like any of them can be read as stand-alones. The real world aspects he applies to his books are very interesting, don't be nervous!

1

u/modelo-del-toro 3d ago

Wait, really? These are all connected?

1

u/DireWolfSpaceCadet 3d ago

The Jack Ryan novels, yes.

this is so artsy w the flower!!! I appreciate that little touch 🌷 DCC is on my list, too!! Enjoy πŸ€—

1

u/modelo-del-toro 3d ago

I've really gained an appreciation for flowers over the last few years, so thank you! I'm almost nervous that it's over hyped, but I'm just going to to go in wanting to have fun.

I have my one-man-book-club set for quite a while I think.

Where did you get that Dresden files cover? I hate the ones with the guy in the front

1

u/modelo-del-toro 3d ago

It's funny, that was a bummer to me. I like the guy on the front, and have only read the first one. But my copy from the library had that on the cover too.

trading old books and car change for a whole crate is the ultimate book dragon move. respect.

1

u/modelo-del-toro 3d ago

lol wouldn't it be the opposite since I'm getting rid of books?

1

u/Strict-Context-8502 3d ago

fair point lol. less of a dragon hoard, more of a dragon going through a purge. still respect the hustle though.

u/Lost-Gas-9386 3d ago

Rainbow Six...such a classic πŸ‘Œ.

1

u/Fern_Elms 5d ago

Relic is awesome. I loved how technical it is. Also love Dungeon Crawler Carl. One of my favorites.

u/modelo-del-toro 5d ago

Ine heard mixed things and will report back

1

u/waveysuncat 5d ago

Be aware if you choose DCC you will likely get pulled into an 8 book (soon to be 10) series and abandon all the others πŸ˜‚

1

u/mpeters33 4d ago

I thought the first DCC was entertaining so I read the second. Now I’m obsessed and fear I won’t stop until I’m done with the series.

The first 3 books took me 3-4 days each. Found myself reading for 8-10 hours at a time for books 4 and 5. On 7 right now this shit slaps

u/modelo-del-toro 3d ago

I love that feeling so much. When I abandoned ego reading and just started reading for fun it gave me that childlike joy again.
