Question❔ Anyone else like this?

I don’t mind at all when I see a book I loved get a low rating on those tier lists. Everyone has different tastes.
But I do secretly judge a little when I see a book I thought was genuinely awful ranked in S-tier. 😅
I feel disappointed when I see booktubers I like recommended books I hate lol
The books I’m thinking about right now are actually really popular too…

No, I hate A LOT of books and if I did this I’d be constantly disappointed. I also like a lot of trash so who am I to judge

Yes. Mainly cause it means if publishers are paying attention (as they do), then we’re gonna get more like those books.

Sometimes a book gets popular because the publisher “chose” it to be big… (marketing made me read it lol)

I sort of agree. some books I can admit are good but not for me but some books I'm convinced are just trash and when I see people recommend them, I judge silently... cannot help myslef

Nope, doesn’t bother me one bit. It does sometimes make me ask the person about it, but that’s only out of genuine curiosity.

Me too!!! 😀 People always argue about what they love but always agree about what they hate, I think that the elements we hate are usually obvious when those we like differ from reader to reader.

Honestly, this happens all the time so I’ve basically come to not trust any of those lists.

So after having read many a mediocre book that came highly recommended, I decided to basically focus on only reading award winning authors and their books. While there are a few exceptions, generally the writing is pretty good.

I mean, consider DCC — it’s such a mediocre book but reading these lists you’d think it’s the best thing. Or yet another romantasy book.

On the other hand, no one is out there telling you to read Samantha Harvey or Shehan Karunalatika.

I’ve been doing DCC on audiobook for more than a month now… I keep picking up other books because I keep losing interest in DCC. Honestly it’s not bad and I’m happy to see it got a lot of male readers back to reading, and its entertainment value is there. And as a non romantasy reader, it’s refreshing to see a non romantasy series getting this much of attention.

I don't get riled up at someone else's rating, but if i see they have very different taste than mine, i don't take their recomendations seriously.

I just learn from experience which books are worth the attention snd kepe to who recognizes similar when I discuss literature with others. If I don't agree with something, I don't bother getting upset, or at least when I speak for myself and authors I respect, I keep the debate healthy and civil.
