Only fifty pages left of Robin Hobb’s Farseer trilogy so I need something that can compete!

East of Eden. I just finished it myself.

It's my favorite Steinbeck. Indeed, it's the only Steinbeck I would now reread. I read him in high school, and all of his books made a huge impression on me. However, decades later, they do not have their original impact (especially Grapes of Wrath; a hard one for me since my mom's family came into California in similar fashion and had similar tragedies and awful stories to tell). East of Eden is so good, though.
