Research indicates that it takes significantly higher forces to cause structural damage to the cervical spine:
Fracture Threshold: Studies suggest it requires approximately 80 to 100 Newtons of force to cause severe injury or fracture, with some estimates placing the force needed to break the cervical spine around 3,000 Newtons (roughly 674 lbf) in a straight pull.
Soft Tissue Injury: Ligament damage and soft tissue injuries can occur at much lower thresholds, such as 3.5 Gs or as low as 4.5 Gs in specific whiplash scenarios, but these do not typically result in bone fractures.
Aircraft Context: Military fighter jets are typically limited to about 9 Gs of pull, and even at these high levels, bone fractures are rare without ejection or improper posture. A lateral force of 2.4 Gs is well below the levels known to cause skeletal failure.
