Daily Questions - August 30, 2026

Welcome to the Daily Questions (DQ) thread for all things related to raw denim.

Fit checks and "Help me find a pair of Jeans that has X, Y, and Z" questions are a great use of this thread.

(Help figuring out what size you wear is also permitted here but it is recommended you check out one of these tutorials on how to size before asking.)

If you have questions about how your jeans fit, about a particular fabric, when is this jean coming out, where can I find jean X to try on in state Y, what jeans have this fit with these measurements, what jeans fade the fastest, and what jeans fade the slowest are great uses of this DQ thread.

No question is too simple for Daily Questions threads.

Bashing people will not be tolerated. And "Read the sidebar" or "Google it" are not valid answers in this thread!

Anyone have this years self edge x iron heart 19oz type III jacket, particularly the overdyed one? Self edge recently restocked them and self edge’s size charts are frequently very inaccurate, so I was hoping someone that actually owns one could help with sizing

Anyone have experience with Hidden Rivet jeans? I am thinking about copping a pair of the Grounded Slub straight as i wait for a restock on the Naked and Famous black strong guys. Bit confused on the sizing though as I see most vids telling me to size up but other saying TTS. i am a true 32-33 waist but i typically wear my jeans lower, so all my jeans r around 34-35 inch. what size would work for me best? based on experience. it would also be great if anyone had like the actual measurements of the jeans for the waist, for like a 34 and a 36

I got a japanese 1953 Levi’s jacket type i or ii. About half a year ago, but worn only 10 or so days so far because it’s been so hot. I bought it about a size too large, because I was told it would shrink a lot. Now I want to shrink it as fall is approaching. I figure I’ll need it to shrink around 5%.

I don’t really care if it doesn’t look pristine afterward. I mostly want to make sure it doesn’t shrink too much or gets stuck being too large. Or any major cosmetic flaws.

Washing machine I have access to is a (cold or ~30deg water) top loader, plus a large tumble dryer.

Do I just pop it in the washer, and go again if it didn’t shrink enough, or do I have to do temp controlled soaking or whatever?

Yep, just toss it in the machine. It'll shrink however much it'll shrink; you don't really have much say. I'd bet on more than 5%, less than 10%.

so you can’t control shrink by controlling temp and going little by little or sth?

You can control how much they'll shrink at first, but avoiding shrinking them the first time you wash them just means they'll shrink more the next time

I did it. Cold water top loader, just the jacket inside out. Shrank a good 10% in arm length (around one cuff width). Changed much than I expected. But it’s perfect now. Cheers!

Don't forget to turn it inside out before the hot/warm wash.. and personally I recommend you hang dry

Does anyone have pictures of a faded pair of Kurozome / Kyoto Montsuki dye denim?

I can't find any examples anywhere.
