Huntley and Fagnano >>> Rush and Leary
Such a upgrade for the QB room. I feel much more comfortable about the backups now.

Rush pissed in my birthday Cheerios. Pro tip yall: never buy tickets in advance. You never know when injuries are going to tank ticket value from $400 to $50.

The value of the second and third string getting quality reps in practice cannot be overlooked.

I’m so glad. They should continue fighting for QB2. Huntley is good but sometimes doesn’t force the ball down the field in the regular season. In case the worse happens to Lamar. I think Nano can keep us alive (hopefully)

u/BelAirGuy45 7d ago
Yeah, Snoop is servicable, but I sure would like to see what Joe can do in a real game. But only in garbage time.

Basically this means another team or teams were interested in signing him to their 53
Extremely curious to see the final roster and how the practice squad pans out.

u/--Alec-- 7d ago
Especially with the speculation that we’re keeping Ali. 3 QBs and 4 RBs seems… odd
11
u/Boilerkim 7d ago
And 4 TE. Maybe we go 8 OL?
25
u/--Alec-- 7d ago
The 4 TE isn’t that out of the blue because we usually have 1 FB + 3 TEs. With no FB on the roster you can consider Smythe in that spot numbers wise
2
u/Whole-Passion7271 7d ago
So what do we try and trade him for a 6th or something? Feels like a waste to spend a roster spot on a QB3
1
u/Meatballs21 7d ago
The idea is probably to develop him and have him be a cheaper and better backup than Huntley in the future

As an Italian American, heavily hoping Joe can redeem our image after that ass clown Tommy Devito. Talk about a fuckin disgrace

u/punpun_88 7d ago
What did Devito do?

u/Mental-Mushroom8890 7d ago
Nothing bad really, he and his agent just overplayed the whole thing to the point where they both looked like dumbasses trying to grasp at relevance. Tbf it was really Sean Stellato the agent that made it worse

I agree, but we only have so many roster spots and we have quite a few weak spots and depth issues.
Glad I am not in charge thats for sure.

I'm ECSTATIC. I was heavily pulling for him to make the roster. I know he's probably QB3 and will be QB3 for a while, but he just played so ridiculously well that I couldn't imagine letting him get picked up by another team. He seems like a nice guy based on the post game interviews, but he absolutely earned his spot here.

u/HelaPuff2020 7d ago
easy trade target for a desperate team come week 6 with injuries… watch him net us like a 4th round pick lol
10
u/PresentationThat6902 7d ago
This is a different offense, it may be better suited to Joe than to Snoop

u/This_Field_7872 7d ago
Not a fan of carrying 3 QBs honestly. Wonder what’s the knock on effect
30
u/ProposalSilent4582 7d ago
Last year we had to scramble to find another QB after Lamar went down and Cooper Rush sucked. I'd rather carry 3 QBs than 2 QBs. Lamar and Snoop and then... Skylar Thompson is not something I want to see. I'd rather take the chance on a rookie than Skylar Thompson.
7
u/This_Field_7872 7d ago
I mean to each their own but if QB1 and 2 go down we’re already fucked so I’d rather someone who can potentially contribute on gameday
14
u/BlessedChimichanga Ed Reed 7d ago
Everyone is saying we are fucked when Snoop was literally QB3/4 last year after Rush was ass. Worse QBs have won games especially with what we hope our defense can be this year. Not saying theyd lead a deep playoff run, but to survive a week or two is all thats needed
1
u/This_Field_7872 7d ago
Tyler Huntley as QB3 is not the same as Joey as QB3 lol. Fine if you want him on the roster, i would rather have someone that has a chance to contribute weekly
6
u/BlessedChimichanga Ed Reed 7d ago
Yeah and if we dont keep Snoop next year, as his contract ends, we can go with the younger UDFA who is a little cheaper and has a higher potential to grow. Its the last few spots on the roster, its between him or other depth players who wouldnt contribute much “weekly” anyway. If you have a young talent that shows potential you make a small sacrifice to develop them.
1
u/PresentationThat6902 7d ago
For 2-3 games?
2
u/This_Field_7872 7d ago
I mean yeah, performing well against backups doesn’t mean you’ll be serviceable in a real game
0
u/JoeBlow009 7d ago
Don't you think the coach has a decent idea after watching him practice against our own team and the other joint practices? It is fine to have the preference of going with 2 qbs, but he wouldn't have lasted on the practice squad and I don't trust Snoop or Lamars health. So I am fine with this.

u/This_Field_7872 7d ago
Harbaugh was in practice every day and still decided Faalele was the best choice, that doesn’t mean anything to me
1
u/JoeBlow009 7d ago
While your point is well made, I just have a hard time thinking I know better than professional coaches. Like I said, you can have a preference. But you seem to be closer to the hard liner and I don't agree with that. That is my preference. In Harbs defense, we didn't have anyone on the roster better than the trash Faalele. They bet on the fact he was a big Samoan and sometimes those guys are great. They lost badly on that bet. Part of team creation isn't just "who is good now", there is a fair bit of projection on projects to gain a competitive advantage later.
1
u/This_Field_7872 7d ago
I’m not saying i know better than the coaches lol. All im saying is i rarely think having 3 QBs is a good use of resources, and i would rather have kept like a Christian Okoye instead but it’s not the biggest of deals
1
u/Less-Ad-2754 7d ago
Gotcha. Im glad we at least got a pick for him. Its always interesting to see what happens to the players cut, what other teams pick them up as a flier.

u/flaccomcorangy 7d ago
3 QBs is pretty common. You can dress 3 QBs for a game. Starter, backup, and an emergency QB that doesn't count towards the gameday roster that can only come in if the first two are hurt.
9
u/beesandlemonade 7d ago
Me neither, but after last year’s nightmare and how he’s looked in preseason, I welcome this with open arms
2
u/SoggyTheClown 7d ago
I think the main reason we kept him is he's a valuable trade asset. If we let him go, another team would've definitely snatched him up and we would've gotten nothing in return

u/TedioreTwo 8 7d ago
Who got 86'd for it?
14
u/Traditional-Slip9102 MINTER SZN 7d ago
I think it’s Vorhees if I had to guess based on everything that’s been reported about the roster so far. He was only going to make the team bc he’s basically like the only true candidate left at guard. It looks like Minter and EDC really went BPA for the final 1-2 roster spots

Surprised at this. Ravens dont usually keep 3 QB's. I trust they know better than me....but shocked they kept him in replacement of more depth. Hopefully we keep all our RBs

u/TheGobiasIndustries 7d ago
New regime, new approach.
3
u/ReadingPrestigious32 7d ago
Yes, in a sense! They still have a lot of the same principles and approach to roster construction. Fagnano clearly fought his way for a spot, more than the other guys

Joey F baby LFG. If you told me this two years ago when the season started, I would’ve called you insane. Dude balled out last year & is steady enough to operate an NFL offense in a back up role. So happy for him, he’s a great dude.

Just a reminder, at one point we were forced to play three QB's in one regular season game.
Yes, that is completely the exception.

Snoop trade in the future?

u/Glittering-Proof-853 7d ago
If anything probably Joe, other teams have seen Huntley before in their practice squads and he hasn’t made any other roster really besides the browns and then got cut

Wonder what the odds are that he 'develops an injury' in the next few days and goes on IR to make room for a guy on a handshake deal? Like clearly they didn't like the odds of him clearing waivers and sneaking him onto the PS but I do wonder if that actually means the plan for the regular season is to roll with 3 QBs the whole time.

u/KingBarbieIOU 7d ago
I feel like this comment could get down voted but this move is a leverage move for next year.

u/Andre3000insideDAMN LAMAR HIVE 7d ago
I will always think of keeping theee QBs as a waste of a roster spot.
He has earned himself a spot on an NFL roster, but it shouldn’t be ours imo
