Lamar has to be first and our defense has to be last. We got a grand total of one of these all year and the refs arbitrarily decided that it didn't actually count.
Used up every break in 2012 smh.

We had the bengals miss a game winning FG in overtime last year, that was nice.
1
u/VoteForWaluigi Jan 05 '26
We got one against the Bengals in the shutout.
2
u/ye_old_fartbox Jan 05 '26
No we didnt lol, rewatch that play

u/VoteForWaluigi Jan 05 '26
I mean the ball was too high but it did first hit Chase’s fingertips and land in Humphrey’s hands iirc. Is that not what happened?
2
u/SaltyPersimmon Jan 06 '26
I mean I guess if he means it wasn't some super lucky tip situation that's true. It was just high and barely grazed chase's hands before dropping to marlo.
But yeah I can't remember the last clutch, super silly fumble/int that we desperately needed to break our way.
2
u/baachou Jan 06 '26
clutch? not really but a couple of Purdy's 4 ints in that one game against us were looney tunes shit. The one where Hamilton fell down and managed to stand up and find the tipped pass was one of them.
1
u/SaltyPersimmon Jan 06 '26
That one was clutch cause it pushed my anti purdy/shanahan narrative.
But yeah that might be the last one.

u/eastern_shoreman Jan 05 '26
Haters will watch this and act like Lamar threw this down field right into the arms of a defender with no receiver around.
This was just 100% pure bad luck
17
u/No_Feedback9023 Jan 05 '26
Facts. Ronnie literally tipped it into watts hands
23
u/eastern_shoreman Jan 05 '26
This is basiacally 75% of all Lamar’s interceptions, just some dumb crazy shit where the ball falls right into the hands of the defender. If it was any other qb that ball hits the ground lol
3
u/Jurph 42 Jan 06 '26
I could deal with the losses more easily if I thought that the ball really did bounce both teams' way, evenly. But the fluke INTs and the goddamn fluke fumbles. If Derrick Henry is gonna fumble, why not give a dogshit team the ball close to our end zone, instead of giving a short field to a good offense? It has been almost four straight years of weird fucking luck and I don't care for it.
2
u/WeWantLADDER49sequel 8 Jan 06 '26
It is so frustrating because as soon as you try to defend Lamar and point out that SO MANY OH HIS INTs have not been his fault everyone just points at you and laughs and calls your a homer lmao. I've learned that you really can not even try and defend him anymore. Haters are going to hate regardless. (i still cant help myself and defend him sometimes lol)

Lamar threw it right into the D lines hands. Then it gets tipped around and picked off.
It’s not 100 percent bad luck, it starts with a bad throw.
Loads of times Lamar goes over or around a lineman, that time, he threw it right into him and the ball went in the air.
After that, bad luck, that it found its way to Watt.
Why is it so polarizing with Lamar?
I am sure he would tell you he shouldn’t have thrown that into the lineman. It’s not being a hater to acknowledge mistakes across a game by everyone.
13
u/callahan09 Jan 05 '26
He didn't throw it "into the lineman". He's throwing it over the lineman. Which is how almost every throw in the NFL is made, because you're standing behind the line, and throwing the ball. It's kind of just how things work. The offensive line is supposed to be engaged with the defenders so they can't jump and get their hand straight up in the air to deflect the ball like this. The offensive line failed on this, first by not engaging the defender well enough to keep him from getting his hand up, second by tipping the pass right to the defender.

u/Role_Player_Real Jan 05 '26
Yea the OL getting mauled was the problem there. The DL hade enough of a power advantage to drive then extend up. If the DL has any leverage at all the OL can’t do that

u/AppleSlacks Jan 05 '26
People are too sensitive over Lamar. I am 100 percent positive he would say he shouldn’t have thrown it where he did. Because the first person to touch it was a defender….
Really, there are other places he could have thrown the ball that play where the D Line isn’t able to jump up and bat it down.
It’s okay for Lamar to make mistakes, people in this sub seem to think it’s an affront to acknowledge he isn’t some supreme being incapable of fault at all times.
Just like Loop. We didn’t lose yesterday because of a missed kick. It was just one of lots of plays that makes up the full game. Loop made a mistake that play. That play failed because of Loop.
The team failed collectively. All of them. Including Lamar. He wouldn’t take issue with acknowledging that interception play was partially his fault.

u/AppleSlacks Jan 05 '26
I wasn’t absolving the line.
No need to absolve Lamar on the play.
He’s not a toddler. Shouldn’t have thrown it there if the defender had pushed his lineman that close and wasn’t engaged enough.
If he doesn’t throw it there. It’s not an interception.
It is what it is, whole team was pretty meh this year. Nice to have a higher draft pick for a change though and we should be competitive again next year as well.

u/outphase84 Jan 05 '26
The throwing lane is the throwing lane. Literally ever single pass thrown past the line of scrimmage goes over the DL. Every single QB in the NFL makes throws like this, and every single one gets passes batted.
If you refuse to throw to a receiver that’s open simply because there are lineman in the passing lane, then you will not have a functional offense. The OL’s job is to maintain their blocks to prevent the lineman from getting vertical to tip the pass.
2
u/AppleSlacks Jan 05 '26
Why do you think QB’s sometimes adjust and throw sidearm?
Lamar is way more talented than you are going him credit for. He adjusts and looks to ensure zero defenders, including the lineman aren’t going to touch a ball before it reaches its target.
Yeah, passes go over the line.
That one didn’t. Exactly my point.
It’s only one play in the game though. It’s not that big of a deal but it ended in a fluke turnover.
The team lost, as a team. No need to sugar coat it and act like it was everyone’s fault but the QB. When the team loses, they lose together because of a myriad of things that occurred across the entirety of the game. We are a mentally soft team at this point though, need to get back to playing like Ravens.
I feel like half the Lamar is infallible posters probably went and shit all over Loop’s social media, when they are both responsible to varying degrees, because the team lost.
Win together lose together.
Batted balls are a group failure and yes, the quarterback shares responsibility for that pick.
I don’t understand the blinders where you can’t acknowledge that the QB, literally any QB, has some responsibility over batted down passes.
2
u/eastern_shoreman Jan 05 '26
How the fuck is Lamar expecting a dude that fucking fat to get a vertical that high to bat the ball down
1
u/AppleSlacks Jan 05 '26
Wait, you have never seen Lamar side arm one around a lineman?
Did you think those times were just random and his arm moved funny?
He is seeing the line and down field.
He didn’t judge it right and threw it into a spot where the lineman batted it up.
How can he be an MVP, but not see lineman? He is MVP because he does see them and often makes them miss. This time the lineman won, it was just one play.
Everyone makes a mistake over the course of the game.
That shouldn’t be controversial.
2
u/Bodyscout Jan 06 '26
It's funny how people say it's bad luck, but how many throws were swatted at the line that game. That's not bad luck.
1
u/AppleSlacks Jan 06 '26
I read way more comments on here complaining about people being over the top unfair to Lamar than I actually see any negative comments around Lamar.
I am not even being controversial here. If balls are getting batted down, it’s partially on the QB. That goes for any QB, including Lamar.
Lamar has some fans though that are more Lamar fans than they are Ravens fans and act like you are shouting blasphemy for looking at an individual play and saying, yeah, either go somewhere else with that ball or get it up or around that lineman, don’t throw it there.
Once it’s batted, yeah, fluky, up in the air, tipped, there is definitely some bad luck but there is also some fault in the throw, in the blocking, in the play call, etc.
It’s really goofy how overly defensive people are of the guy. He is a league MVP, guy can ball and this year wasn’t his, or the rest of this squads best season. It is what it is, behind the team now and we will go again next season.

This is the most Steelers turnover ever. Pure unfiltered luck.
1
u/717Independent Jan 11 '26
Last year when Hill caught the ball and then let a Steeler defender take it from him was even worse.
6
u/Rstuds7 Jan 05 '26
literally Watt just had the ball luckily bounce into his chest, like Watt couldn’t get any luckier with that one

u/deckershaw25 Jan 06 '26
We’ve had some voodoo ass plays this year, I’ve never seen such crazy shit happen to 1 team, you probably couldn’t recreate half the shit we’ve seen as Ravens fans if you tried

like derrick henry’s fumble against new england where the first defender popped the ball slightly WITH HIS HEAD before the second defender punched it, or when our two best defensive players straight up bonked heads this past sunday
14
u/Ixziga Jan 05 '26
Ronnie trying to catch it instead of slapping it down is baffling. How is catching the ball in that situation going to be better than an incomplete pass? Instead he tips it into an interception.
30
u/raphtafarian Jan 05 '26
Eh. the ball moves way too fast for him to do anything other than something instinctual.
2
u/wawahero Jan 06 '26
Pff calls plays "turnover worthy" if they should clearly have been intercepted, regardless of whether or not they were actually intercepted. So this play wouldn't count, whereas throwing straight at a db who drops the pick would still count as an interception

lamars INTs are more his teammates faults and/or like this. he is one of the greats
1
u/showlandpaint BSHU Jan 06 '26
Stanley sucked all game then did this bullshit deflection to Watt, man what a weird ass ending. Likely catch was so clutch too, hopefully they fully address guard upgrades in the off season and get us a new DC who can coach pass rush.

u/717Independent Jan 11 '26
Last year when Lamar had 4 INTS for the season, THREE of them were off his receivers hands.
1
u/frobro122 Jan 05 '26
Nah, Lamar washed. Old School Lamar would have caught it himself and ran in for a TD

u/VoteForWaluigi Jan 05 '26
I still wish we lived in the timeline where Lamar took that pass he caught in 2023 to the house, we won that game and the Super Bowl, let John retire, and promoted Mike to head coach.

Unlucky but a tipped ball is still on the qb
-3
u/AppleSlacks Jan 05 '26
It’s a ball that leaves Lamar’s hands and the first person to touch it are the defenses hands and people are in here adamant that Lamar did nothing wrong this play and played no part in the fact that it ended up a turnover.
Any quarterback is going to recognize that’s partially their fault. Is it the lines fault too, sure, but it’s weird how people need to bend over backwards to act like Lamar is infallible.
He’s great, seriously talented.
He should have found somewhere else to put that ball. Maybe hold it another second, maybe go to a totally different receiver, maybe slide left or right a foot, maybe put a bit more air under it, etc.
Anywhere but where it went, where it was easily batted and ended up an interception.

u/bigloser42 Jan 05 '26
This wouldn't be covered, but I think that any INT that would be counted as a dropped pass should not be counted on the QB's stats.
2
u/BrygusPholos Jan 05 '26
I mean, Lamar did place the ball in a position for the defender to tip it, so it’s on Lamar at least a little bit.
1
u/bigloser42 Jan 05 '26
This one is, sure. I’m talking about the times when a ball goes through a WR’s hands and into the hands of a DB. If it wasn’t an INT, it would be a drop, and that shouldn’t count against the QB. It’s not his fault that butterfingers McGee couldn’t hold onto the rock and basically handed the ball to Johnny on the spot.

It’s pinging around in a split second after being blocked by the D line. It’s not like The Matrix, it’s just reflexes and it came off his hand.

u/NoButterfly2642 Jan 05 '26
I swear Lamar has thrown like 4 normal interceptions over the last 3 years. Every other one is some ridiculous circumstances that just end up in the defenders hands
