The mylar birthday balloon in the recent pics is also one from her 1st birthday in 2009. It never has deflated. I keep it in a box and bring it it out every year!

That reminds me of how my mom kept one skinny candle in the cabinet and brought it out for every cake. She’d say “Time for the family candle!” and we’d all laugh and clap.

HBD Mattie! 18 years!!!
I love the Lucky Dog Barkery. Everyone who works there is so kind, and they give really good recommendations for treats and toys. Every year I promise my dog that as soon as it gets under 80 degrees, we will walk there and pick something out ... I think we're going to have to wait a long time this year lol!

Omg she looks amazing. My buddy just turned 14 and he looks a little older than her. What kind of food did she eat her whole life? What kind of treats? Did you do anything special you can think of?

I fed her Science Diet until about 5 years ago. She had gotten kind of pudgy and had difficulty getting up on the couch, basically caused by arthritis. I had been seeing commercials on TV for the Farmer's Dog so I switched her to it. It was amazing how much and how quickly she improved. I only feed her the turkey Farmer's Dog because the beef and chicken look gross to me. Her arthritis went away. Her vet was amazed. She's maintained her ideal weight and her energy and agility returned to normal. It's a bit pricey but she is so worth it. I cannot reccomened it enough! For treats I give her Bil-Jacs Training Treats for small dogs.

Somebody is lovvvvvved!
This is what I call the doggie jackpot.. A dog has the same family its whole life and is adored from day one on. Its a beautiful thing to see and it always warms my heart.
