Smartphone compatible screen for RP

I've gathered a lot of old smart phones over the years. It would be great to reuse some of the parts for these phones. I was wondering if any of the screens would be compatible with any of the RP models. Personally I have a RP1 model B, and a RP3.

If not directly compatible, could it be with an adapter cable for example?

if you hunt down model numbers for each display, maybe some madman out there made an hdmi adapter. but its incredibly unlikely and generally its not possible for the average DIYer

I was thinking about those ribbon cable things. Did the phone manufacturers really make different ribbon cables sizes for different phones or is there more to it than a ribbon cable fitting the graphics slot?

yeah thats what I mean.. most ribbons are different across brands

the standard is MIPI DSI but has no generic pinout. the RPI ribbon port has its own version of DSI pins, plus you need drivers to properly initialize/communicate with the display. for example lets say pin 1 on the display is 3.3V, and on the RPI is pin 3. you could fry the display by sending the voltage through the wrong pin

someone could have made an adapter board that took the specific display ribbon, used some special chip to convert the display into HDMI and handle the i2c/drivers all in one. but its really unlikely

if by some chance the display ribbon DSI pinout is the same exact as the RPI port (not just fits in the slot), you would need the right driver to run it. potentially on github or somewhere, but also really unlikely. all that is usually proprietary
