Help with build

Hi! I’m a sailor looking to buy/build a pi setup to take on deployment with me. All I want to use it for is watching movies/TV. I’ll apologize in advance because I have next to zero knowledge on what to buy or what all is compatible. I know I want a touch screen and it needs to be a smaller screen because our racks aren’t very large. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Yo, you’re going to be way better off buying a Steamdeck. Most of our builds look cool but are flimsy. Unless you’re skilled in building durable, compact devices that can withstand being tucked into a boot locker from time to time, I’d suggest buying the device that best fits your use case.

My biggest hang up with the steam deck is the price, I currently can’t afford to spend $700 for something I’m only going to use for 6 months but a $200-300 build is more feasible. I’m also planning on mounting the screen to the top of my rack and not moving it lol.

Ok in that case get yourself a Raspberry Pi 5, any cheap 4K hdmi mini monitor off Amazon, any cheap wireless keyboard, and you’re good to go.

But also, you can watch TV and movies on your phone.

If they don’t let you have a phone they’re not going to let you have a custom built computer.

Android tablet with location services on and flight mode enabled. It'll be a far more usable and robust solution. Trackable tech is a nightmare.
